What a very lovely building .I liked the sculpture of the man cupping his hands where that part of the cathedral floods at times. Really nice look around here with good info . Perfect for Sunday viewing 🙂👍💕👏

Hi Cara, Winchester Cathedral looks very beautiful. It's a place I would like to visit for sure, my great-grandmother was a ‘Beauchamp’, and her ancestors are buried in the cathedral. I think there is a Beauchamp chapel. Whether it still exists in not sure.
But I would definitely like to visit one day. Loved the video 😊😉

I have been been interested in his time
But there is so much info here that I didn’t realise - just great. Amazing that his remains could be out there somewhere!!
And the guy who saved the Cathedral how incredible was that??

I don't think I realised quite how much King Alfred did for us, I have a few more places to visit that are connected to this great king. but it was a bit sad standing at Hyde Abbey, knowing that we just don't know what happened to his remains and the Gate house is just a mess, not looked after at all. But Winchester holds a special place in my heart I was in fact brought up there. Don't remember much about it, so I had fun explore here and more places to come.

Yes I love Winchester. I have a memory that when I visited, King Arthur’s around Table was in the Cathedral but I must be mistaken.
It is a replica anyway but quite impressive. The Cathedral is special.

@@openmindedwonderer It was 🙂 Large amount of Medieval floor tiles had been replaced in the 1970's but they didn't get the firing temperature right for the new tiles and they all wore out very quickly 😮

As far as I know Alfreds` only possible resting place at this time is in a cardboard box in a local museum
