- Scene of the Fremen arguing whether Paul is Lisan Al Gaib + Stilgar saying "the Mahdi is too humble to say he is the Mahdi"

"The mahdi is too humble to say he is the mahdi"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stilgar: The Mahdi.
Paul: I'm not the Mahdi.
Stilgar: I say you are Lord and I should know I've followed a few.
(Life of Brian)
Favorite scene of both movies 🙂
Stilgar: "Listen, folks. I saw the Mahdi tie his shoelaces this morning. By himself. The prophecy truly is as written. Lisan Al-Gaib!"
I saw him once pick up a pencil. A pencil. Lisan Al Gaib!!!
"He shit himself in his stillsuit and didn't fart. AS IT WAS WRITTEN!"
Life of Brian comes to my mind...

"is that His GOURD!!!!"
he will know your ways as if he was born to them
You notice that the Fundamentalists are made up of Stilgar and middle aged to old fremen while the Skeptics are Chani with women and the younger Fremen.
That just means they are old and jaded and all that youthfull hope and energy is gone, eroded away by the brutal sands of Arrakis, they aren't as young or fit anymore, the passion of youth has been suffocated by the sands
So now that signs of a better tomorrow finally appear, they cling to them the hardest because they have nothing lose and everything to gain
Chani and the younger fremen haven't been crushed by the brutality of life yet and still have optimism in the future and see the dangers of blindly devoting themselves to a religious cause.
The women are naturally more risk adverse, preferring to keep the current status quo rather than shake the boat without any clear benefit
Chakhobsa language sounds amazing... I would hear hours of argument in this voice
"only the messiah denies his divinity"
What?
Well, what sort of chance does that give me ?
All right, I am the Messiah
Life of Brian homage 😂
Listen, dear friends, once I saw Mahdi taking the shower AND cleaning his tooths at the SAME time! Lisan al Gaib!
PAUL: DRIP SPLASH WATER DRIP SPLASH WATER DRIP SPLASH WATER!
Stilgar: AS WRITTEN
_Paul opens the door for Stilgar first_
“Lisan al-Gaib!”
The Mahdi is indeed very humble, he opens the door for the elderly first.
As written!
Paul: *farts*
Stilgar: *sniffs* '...stings the nostrils like spice...as written"
Stilgar goes from proud leader to blind follower, while Chani goes from loyal lover to reluctant supporter, and then apparently becomes some sort of parasite in Messiah. I don't know who is the more tragic character.
Amazing acting all around.
What becomes of her in messiah?

Stilgar' s name is really Simpgar. Simp bromamce is hot and heavy here.
Stilgar to Jessica: "Are you a virgin?"
Never underestimate religious fanatic's ability and motivation to twist any words to mean whatever he or she desires.
"Only the true Messiah denies his divinity!" *loud cheers from the crowd*
I once had a tarot reading, a lot of stuff came true unexpectedly (whether or not that was predicted is not the point) my friend at the time once said to me “that doesn’t mean it was predicted”, fair enough, but I asserted, and still assert, that there’s no such thing as magic, but the right place at the right time, for the right reason.
She may have been trained to transmute poison, but the fact that she could do it and was there to do it in the first place was no accident. Same with Paul, they say he’s not the Lisan Al Gaib, yet everything that happens up to this scene is completely outside of Paul’s control and creates the pre-requisite for the events that follow after, which is exactly what was predicted would happen, was it not fate?
Bro, I would love to be an extra in the movies just to scream Lisan Al Gaib like a true zealot 😂
So, why is Chani pissed off all the time? If the Fremen should be freed by their own people. Why haven't they done it yet? What are they waiting for?
They've been waiting for Paul. He is the one, whether prophesized or not, whether he is the Lisan Al-Gaib or not. Is he using them? Or are they using him?
The horrible thing is it's both, Paul is using the fremen to dispence justice against what happened to his family AND the fremen, but afterward it is HIM being used to justify whatever horrors the fremen will wrought against the anyone else.
He followed his father’s footsteps by forming an alliance with the Fremen, protected the Fremen from being wiped out by House Harkonnen, and he avenged his father, who was a good man that deserved all luxury he had. The great houses didn’t have to go to war with Paul, and they didn’t have to refuse his ascendancy. They were just power hungry, like the emperor.
If Paul isn’t the chosen one, he wouldn’t be on Arrakis in the first place. Nothing happens by accident.
@@Commuter6753the prophecy was manufactured. In other words, the prophecy was “true” in the sense that it would happen eventually, but it was all under the control of the people who taught it. Paul basically exploited the prophecy. He had the abilities required, but he did it all for ulterior motive.
@@Stitchman3875 I think he did it for what he considered justice, and the Freman followed him because they believed him to be a vehicle of justice. Everyone thought what they were doing was right, and given how they were all treated by the Harkonnen, they were all at least partially correct. That's the tragic and scary part for me.
@@ER1CwC you can definitely say that. It can be said in the beginning that there was desire for Justice. As the time progressed, it became a revenge conquest. Dune Messiah will expose a lot of the conflicting interests and the consequences of Paul’s actions. Hopefully they’ll give us Children Of Dune too, that’s pretty much close Paul’s story arc.

Seriously one of the reasons I hated this film so much is the way they twisted Stilgars character...and Jessica's...and the lack of water discipline...and don't get me started on the deleting of the spacing guild and that planet of bald people, the truncated timeline and apparently the BG wanted House Atriedes destroyed even though the Revend Mother turns up in part one on Geidi Prime to plead for Paul and Jessicas life. DV should be ashamed of himself rather than looking so fucking smug all the time.
Hate it!!!!!
You hâte it because it doesnt follow the book perfectly but its still fucking good films. I hâte the halo série on paramount because its nothing like the games and books AND its also fucking trash. You are lucky.

Glad you enjoyed the film. I'm not so easily pleased. But that's not really Herbert's book you're watching. Very disappointing, could have been so much better.
