To clarify, it's not that they've never seen that move before, it's just that it's a move normally only used in the middle of combos, and here it somehow hit cammy out of her really fast level 3 super. The pros watching were surprised that Botan's move won and she didn't get hit instead.
She hit that 0.1 seconds weakness point of Cammy super with that uppercut. Typical of anime fights.
And botan thought of using it because she seen cammy jumps alot lol, something a fighting game player wouldn't even think about
So basically botan manage to dodge the bullet of cammy lv3
Is it because that is categorized as an anti air starting move? Since anti air are usually will have high priority in the activation for any ground starting moves.

I tested this out and it seems like the Cammy super is an aerial move. Most moves that have Invulnerability frames to air moves such as Ken's Heavy DP AND EX DP will work. However, it has to be timed right when Cammy is on you. If you do it too early or too late, then Cammy's super will go through and beat out the move since invincibility frames would have expired. So what she did right here was BIG BRAIN BIG BIG BRAIN!

Botan is so humble that she labled that move as a fluke. Sasuga lioness, truely the best gamer there is
She's probably labelling it a fluke as she didn't know if it would work, but was testing a theory/idea/timing. That it worked means others will probably test out the parameters to find its limits/viability. Yeah, she's being humble, but she's also just not taking credit for something she isn't really sure on yet. Botan is a big brained gamer, but she's not a toxic gamer looking to ride any accolades coming her way(just look at her meta-brain whenever she's breaking down game mechanics. She generally tries to look for any weird/unexpected interactions and if she finds some, she'll leverage them. She just happens to also have enough gaming skill to pull most of it off on top of thinking them up).
@maqywhaq She got lucky. There is literally no reason to do this if you know camy is going to CA, your punish on block is way easier and safer. She thought camy was going to jump and won a framedata coin flip on the CA invulnerability timing out.

To clarify. It was a fluke hit, like Botan said, simply because she already input the move before the Pro did Cammy's lvl 3 super (You can tell because the character model jerks to standing position in order to start the upper cut animation). Reason why its never been seen before or discovered as a new counter hit, is because you can't actually do this reliably. Its pure luck that it happened, because you need to do Marisa's uppercut BEFORE cammy does her super, before the animation starts, like literally a split second before it happens. Well you might have some time if the super is done far away, but pro's usually would never do a super that far away as you could just simply jump over or block instead of risking a counter.
I mean the daigo parry was pretty impossible until it made its history debut back in evo 37 so who knows

Yeah, I'm sure that only worked because Botan had entered the move command some number of frames before the super was executed. Could be useful with a character that has a fireball and you could bait the super, but I think Marissa would have a hard time doing that.
You get a better and safer punish on block though? I think She threw out OD guessing on a dash and got lucky that Camy has one of the few level 3s that get beat by that.

She just happened to be standing just far enough away that the I-frames on Camy's CA timed out. Alternatively, she knew the CA was coming and made the absolute worst most slot machine choice of counter play. Either way, this comment section is giving her way too much credit when even she knows she got insanely lucky. .

The only thing I can think of a similar scenario like that is that of a guy countering a tornado kick by using a forward kick during a sparring session.

this Lioness become more invincible both in long-range and close-range
yup, and Marisa is also one of the most close-range-oriented character in SF6. In long-range Marisa needs to figure out how to close in to the close range (fortunately she has some skills for that), but she is also very weak in anti-air (the move Botan showed here, "Dimachaerus", is one of the worst anti-air options throughout the game. Its initiation is too slow, and both the range and the damage are mediocre so they cannot compensate that.)
I credit Botan's composure for pulling that off. Botan the ever-chill.
That was quite literally the opposite of composure, actually. LOL
for a fluke it hit the jackpot.
- the hit Botan did is an anti air. She did that as Cammy put up some distance and expected to get hit my a spinning air kick to continue pressure and combo.
- although Cammy is in the air during super, her attack has mid to low profile and doesn't get much out of the ground.
- Botan did the start up in the same instant as the lvl3 super during a combo, the lvl3 was used to punish her for possible spamming.
- usually lvl3 is unstopabble on start up, so the move should have passed over Botan. Botan had perfect positioning for the OD attack to skip the invincibility frames and also hit it just in time for a good counter.
No wonder the pros were surprised. Normally you would try defending or dodging, but she went for a hit instead, one which usually doesn't hit that well from that distance. Botan's lion instincts hit hard.

It seems like Botan's natural talent is targeting things with very accurate timing. just like shooting, even punching, there must be a gap where the opponent will open an unprotected place. Too Amazing, Botan!!!.🤪🤪👍👏👏
That Cammy was super sus, but I kinda was like that too with my Juri. I hadn't played a lot since launch and when I picked the game up again and learning a bunch of stuff by watching, I ended up with a 19 game winstreak and lost it to a laggy Honda.
I played Tekken 5 in amateur leagues and then (for real life reasons) dropped fighting games entirely. After picking it back up years later in tekken 7, I had the same thing happen with just tearing through ranks and being called a smurf player / rank resetter. Kinda weird how that happens sometimes.

It's 100% more useful to just block the super because you can get a full punish counter combo afterwards

You can't armor thru supers in this game. I'm pretty sure that OD Anti-Air may actually have an incredibly low hurtbox that actualy went under Cammy's lv3 super's hitbox, usually how anti-air moves work against jump-ins.

@@Thienthan That was 1 in a thousand, if not in a million chance. Especially at that range, Botan lucked out with that frame-perfect timing. Sure it was a fluke, but it's a guaranteed pop-off moment.

As a veteran fgplayer. The reason why dogura and his buddy's a bit sus is because cammy is playing way above her rank of silver. Low level player usually dont even know how to driverush and react to drive impact. And after they pointed that out the next round cammy began playing like a normal silver rank player and botan is now winning as if the opponent is listening on the stream lol.
They were also shock because cammy lvl 3 super has a lot of invincibility frames meaning if you do ANY normal attack or special and the opponent uses her super, 99% of the time the one that did super wins that interaction. 1% is botan doing anti air lol i guess cammy is on air technically which is a new knowledge to them.
Strictly speaking, there was no reason for either of them to swing there. Botan wasn't in burnout so the critical art wouldn't have chipped her out, and Botan did the OD Dimachaerus in expectation of a jump (instead of on reaction to one). The invulnerability on Cammy's CA ran out before the air invulnerability on Dimachaerus did. She has the right mindset; if you win by luck it's best to admit it to yourself so you don't think you know more than you do.
Very true. But it's through lucky events like these that new possibilities are found. The next question for the pros would be if this has any strategic use in a match. But it's cool that Botan found it out.

Yeah those Cammy moves is kinda sus, there's probably a lot of smurfing in JPN to get matches with streamer/vtuber, it's probably done just for fun tho.
but in SF6, if you already reach Diamond with one character, you'll at least got gold in the next character placement match, Capcom put that as a countermeasure against smurfing.
