Considering how rare it is for Botan to cry, you can really tell that this tournament meant a lot to her. Sasuga La Lion

She hasn’t won any matches in the previous or current CR Cups, and no wins in practice matches with other teams either. Considering her responsible nature, I think she really wanted to win this one for the teammates, her coaches, and everyone who has supported her in practice.

i dont think she cried entirely because she loses, i think she cried because she was so tense and so nervous on the match, and when that's over, her emotions just overwhelmed her and she breaks. good job, botan!

@@weissshizuru3687 She gave up competitive not because she doesn't like the mentality of competitive arena but rather she took it far too seriously and ruined her health hence she's distancing herself to it.
The overcompetitiveness is what drives you to be someone competitive.. I think she cried here is because she felt like she would win the match but got disappointed with herself.. I felt that before
Shishiron gets super overcompetitive and she absolutely HATES losing (which is something I share, tbh). So it was a bit of both. Botan is the kind of person who drives herself to be the best in competition like this, and when she doesn't think she is, the emotions get all fumbled up and show heavily.
This really hit hard almost as hard as when she cried during her last minecraft game with kaichou... It really shows how our cool confident lion truly really cares about her friends and really invests her emotion with everyone she connects..... this shit can really make a grown man cry outta nowhere...

The thing about someone like Botan crying is that it feels like there's actually weight to it. When you've got someone who's known for being cheerful having their emotions pour out like that, it really hits different compared to people who just have crocodile tears. You can tell she really invested herself into this tournament.

We've heard from various Holomem that Botan isn't really the "no-nonsense FPS predator" that she sometimes seems like. And shoot, even Korone cried because of the intense emotions that this fighting game can create in a tournament setting.
We can only say what her teammates said: "Nice try, Botan, you did great! So glad you got to participate and learn so much!"

This clip is hard to watch. And yet, I still come back to it from time to time. As that's the nature of competition, there's inevitably a winner and a loser. As much as we want to see her win, we instead get to see her vulnerable side. We should never conflate vulnerability with weakness, and this moment serves to remind us that we all can be vulnerable at times and there's no shame in showing others that we are.
When you invest a lot time, feelings and concentration into a new game, you always break at your first high tier competition if you don't get the goal you wanted.

Oh god! oh sweet mother of god! Life didn't prepare me for the sound of Botan crying, I felt my heart tearing apart as she shocked herself with tears. This is the most parasocial I've felt so far for a vtuber and nothing prepared me for that. We'll know the taste of disgrace and loss to our pride but I hope she knows she did good and just take the experience for better.
reminds me of a clip 2-3 years ago where she tried being strong infront of coco who was graduating but once she started talking she just broke down. Coco's graduation hurts even more after hearing and seeing botan just break down like it was the final nail in the coffin

Botan rarely show this side of her emotion. Heck we mostly know her for her giggles, she also has that tough lady personality so seeing or hearing her cries was a surprise. Funny how behind that tough personality of hers, she has baby-like sneeze and cries

The last time i heard Botan cry was when she hit 1 million as well as when Coco graduated. Competition really takes a lot out of you. You cant help but feel happy for Botan, she deserves all the hugs imaginable.

My favorite part is that Dogura high fives the Botan cutout specifically where her hands are, so he's on point.
I think that’s what really got her. She was obviously really happy that he won, but then to see that he didn’t hold her losing against her at all(despite knowing he obviously wouldn’t), paired with the knowledge that her team still won despite her not performing up to her standards.
It was just a lot of feelings all at once.

This tournament was a very unusual situation for Botan and the other newer players on the team. There's almost no other way that a player who is so new to the game would ever have to suddenly compete in front of thousands or even tens of thousands of people. Pro players like Dogura have been up on stages like that dozens of times, so while they're of course all gonna be nervous, Botan has this huge pressure with the least experience being in this position.
And to make it even more stressful, it's not just a solo event where you lose and can move on, it's a team event where you feel like your losses "let down" your team mates even though everyone else will be supportive of course. I've seen pro players who have been competing for more than 10 years who said in interviews that doing team events is more stressful than anything solo.
So yeah, it's not surprising that Botan felt a major amount of pressure with how this event is structured. Hopefully she can overcome these painful feelings quickly and doesn't feel guilty about anything.
She's never been good under pressure that's why she retired and never really was able to perform under pressure.

The frustration from giving all you've got and still falling short, especially in a competitive scene like this is just so high. It shows how passionate she is and this for sure will make her a better player in the future~

There's a huge difference between crying cause a friend graduated and crying cause you tried your hardest but fell short
The only two times ive seen botan cry is for coco kaichou and this. You could really tell how important this was for her! It genuinely hurts hearing her cry, no matter tears of frustration or joy. Botan is genuinely someone who easily shows her honest feelings despite how easygoing she is
During Botan's match, Botan hits an attack, and at the start of the match, the commentator shows the silver lion dancing, and it's the beginning of predation time! And Shishirobotan believes in Tsukumo! It was great to hear the lyrics of Lioness Pride!
Hearing botan cry legit made my eyes leak like a pavlovs dog reaction. Its one of the rarest things to see botan cry and im really glad for her
I cant blame her man. When you're in a tournament, the nerves, the emotions, your senses, everything is on overdrive. From start to finish. That's why if you actually know how it feels and you watch these pros competing with an ice cold demeanor, you can tell how freaking amazing they really are. A win is gonna be the biggest dopamine you'll experience, but if you lose, the slump will be one of the worse things ever. Especially in fighting games, there's so much at stake and you got no team to back you up. Its all on you. It wasn't her fault. She did well, but if she thought it was her fault (which most likely what happened), its gonna crash down on you like a mfer. I can't blame her.

Finally I understood why.
I know it's taboo to say that there are true athletes, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say a lot of people here, including Botan, have an athlete's mentality. And I have seen grown adults cry after playing a game where they tried their hardest but then lost. Or bauled their eyes out after the managed to get that win. So I can see where she's coming from.

Botan is someone who feels a high sense of responsibility with whatever she does. She puts her all in, and does not want to disappoint her teammates, in this tournament. I felt it was a mix of the tension she had going into the match, and that she may have felt she failed those who taught her so much going into this.
