A massive benefit with Fidelity is when you deposit money to be invested. Your money earns 4.99% interest until you buy shares. So if you're doing cash secured puts your still earning interest on your money.
Yeah! That’s why I like to keep cash there, if I don’t spend that money buying shares! At least that money is still working! I have a question! I’ve been using the FXAIX and I notice that if I bought a share on price market, and then when the purchase is settle, the price cost is lowered than the actual purchased! I’m curious about it! What does mean?
The market's direction can swiftly change, with indexes frequently transitioning from a bear market to a bull market precisely when the news is most negative and investor sentiment reaches its lowest point.
How many people are able to invest for 40+ years? This should be required education for high school students, although, I would think young people would be trying to save for a car and a home first.
I’m currently putting 10% of my check with 4% coming from my employer. Come out to around 250-300 a week going into my 401k. Currently investing into the fxaix. Short term it isn’t doing much.
Hi! I’m pretty new to investing but I opened up a fidelity account and had a few questions. If I want to invest my money into the s&p 500 do I have to put my money into a Roth IRA first? Also when I try and buy some of the s&p 500 the only way I am able to is if I buy it as a mutual fund. Idk if that makes sense, but if anyone could help me out that would be great! Thanks!
Hey, you can’t directly buy the S&P 500 through Fidelity, but you can buy their Fidelity 500 index fund FXAIX which is their version. It would be wise to invest through a Roth IRA.
I want to know if it's a good idea to add all my savings into a long term ETF, set and forget Come back in 20-30 years, instead of 250-300 DCA every month. Which ETF would you recommend.?
More than 90% of my investments are in the S&P in the extended market index fund I'm okay with this even getting close to retirement it'll be a long time before I move into bonds probably, my money needs to last a long time
Love your content. I am sort of wondering though... I invested quite a bit more than $100 a month starting around 24. But now, almost 2 decades later, my numbers aren't matching up with your chart. I'm guessing I didn't pick the best investments in my 401K for the first few years(not as much good info back then), but overall I think they're pretty standard aggressive growth. And I know I was part of that "Lost Decade" of growth and all the financial crisis stuff. I'm glad to be doing ok, but sometimes I get discouraged thinking I should be doing better for how much Ive hustled to save. Any thoughts?
Hey Ryan. Great to still see you out there! I did take the plunge! I implanted my former employer's 401K into my first IRA. I also funded it via index funds but, I feel I made a huge mistake. I decided to stay with the Merrill Lynch Edge platform. I don't know how costly it will be to move everything into Fidelity. ML has no automating DCA investing because I chose to self direct! There are no fractional shares with ML either. How costly can this be tax wise? Thank you Ryan!
If you are able to do an "in kind" transfer you can switch without selling off any of your assets, I would look into the steps for transferring from Merrill to Fidelity
@@RyanScribner Would Merrill help me with this? Who would help me do this transaction? I had settings for dividend reinvesting. My % amounts in my three ETFs will not change? QQQM, VOO & SCHD & AMZN? But as you say in your video, I pay less or nothing in fees if I choose my ETFs on the Fidelity platform? Just worried about the costs. Thank you Ryan.
If you’re talking about a 401k that is invested into pre taxes off of your paycheck, you will need to pay income taxes on anything taken out. And if you take out before 60, you pay a 10% penalty fee. Just remember, if you plan on taking any of the money out you will need to report it to your income for that year you take it out.
Ryan- this is an amazing video. More people of the younger generations need to watch this. I’m 35 and trying to learn all this and this is the first video that’s actually helped me.
Then america will no longer be a world power or a country. If the market crashes life as we know it is over anyway, might as well stop worrying about what ifs and get in on it
I'm new to investing. Opened a Fidelity Roth IRA recently and invested 3k. Few weeks later I invested $400 more but it hasn't shown up on my profile or added to my balance. There was something about a settlement date that has past three days ago. Anyone here have any idea what has happened?
I have set up my fidelity brokerage account and I want to know how I can start buying stocks and EFT s I have also set up Roth IRA too but I have no idea to buy stocks
I am doing this exact thing right now. That's why I looked up information. My FA fees are high but I have a good FA too, but still, I am 64 and drawing money so I need a good boost. I am looking for good advice.
Watch out bro! The security settle system of the fucking fidelity will make your account to be loss. When you meet the chance to invest, the fucking delay system will delay your golden time either.

Can the stock market really keep going up long term at the same pace? Market caps would have to be in the quadrillions
Yes. New companies will overtake
Great explanation, Your videos are clear and concise. It is appreciated.
Thanks for letting me know!
If I invest in FXAIX should I also invest in a mid cap fund and a small cap fund? Thanks.
Question, IM guessing i have the change imvestments closer to retirement to ensure it does not lose/much funds?

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for letting me know
Is it okay to invest in both FXAIX and FITLX at the same time? they have a lot of overlap so idk if it makes sense to invest in both?
You’re correct. It definitely has much overlap. You’ll be saving A lower expense ratio w/ FXAIX

Personal opinion, bonds are only for billionaires/countries/organizations and not the common man..... everyone should be in equities/stocks imo.
Curious what some effective strategies might be for someone starting in their 50s.

can $300/month be distributed in all those stocks you just mentioned and would i be penalized if decided to withdraw before age 59.5yrs

You did not account for inflation. The real value of 1,000,000 is not the same now as it will be in 30 years.
True, but the calculation was based on a monthly investment of $100. Change that to $500/mo for 47 years and you end up with over $5M.
