Many thanks for the post>>> It could only be Chet and nobody else >>> the contemporary rhythm section sound of Gadd - Carter - James lay down a cool but deep groove that inspires Baker to blow a powefully lyrical solo. Bob James plays the fender piano with beautiful control and feel as Carter and Gadd create a wonderfully vibrant background.
Hi sevildrib. I agree with you that Chet Baker takes an inspired solo. Also, just to clarify, that's Jack DeJohnette on drums. I know this for two reasons...the style of DeJohnete and the CD liner notes says so. Thanks.
for anyone hoping to transcribe this solo/recording, this specific recording is pretty sharp compared to the actual recording. I would recommend anyone trying to transcribe/play along to seek a more accurate recording. Incredible piece tho
His (Chet's) phrasing is perfect. He definitely pulled out all the stops. This whole album is amazing.

Great selections -- thank you for posting -- we enjoy Chet Baker's music so much!
3:00 - 3:31
The best 31 seconds of my life, without question.
The drummer is Jack Dejohnette

Of course, if you asked Steve Gadd to “play this like Jack DeJohnette,” he probably could have. Two of the best ever….

is this in a different key from the original?
Is it me or is that cymbal way to splashy in the start it takes away from the ensemble
It's the mp3 compression. This isn't a very high quality conversion
