Nice video man! The commentary is great. Its interesting to hear other operators preferences and the mill specs. Im surprised with the amount of waste in your slash piles. Im in ontario and our utilization is way more strict. BTW, try using a bit hydraulic oil at operating temp to remove the sap. Let it sit for a few mins then clean with normal window cleaner. I run a 870c feller and discovered that after blowing a hose ontop the boom lol. Ive been doing this since then and my window still looks good
Jay hey there. You know what I found that works well is just cleaning my window frequently enough as so the pitch doesn't have time to harden. Then any window cleaner works well. Ya the waste up there was absolutely terrible. This was before the beetle kill invasion where the specs changed and loosened up. Now it's much better but still bad. It's just to costly to figure a way to truck the waste out to a place that could use it. There are co-gen plants here but they are so far away and the logs are floated there so you can't transport a slash like yet lol.
Man I so want to get on board with the TimberRite and the Sure Grips. LogRite 7.0 system with Danfoss grips seems archaic but it is what I know. That was awesome how you explained about the milliamp difference per diameter change. I know exactly what you mean about checking your spiral checks. I am scared to climb around inside the computer program and fuck over the factory specs. Talking to professionals like Ron Kelly at Vanderhoof field service Finning helps me learn so much when he is out
NHsk8r74 I appreciate the compliment. But you should see me now lol. This may have been recorded about 10 years ago and since then I have realized how limiting short logging is on the skill set needed. I've since been long logging with upwards of 8 different species on much more technical ground. The work space is so limited most of the time that we hot log and a log loader has to take the wood away from me and deck it else where. I have to process with the head backwards so often that it has become almost as natural as forwards. Anyhow I just wanted to elaborate on that if you cared. Shameen
totally depends on the size of the wood and the terrain how well its decked and how many sorts and how much rot. tough question. small wood under 200m3 a day and big wood well I hit 995 m3 in a 10 hr day once cutting really nice long log spruce.

use WD-40 for sap on the window, like you say, if you leave it too long even WD-40 won't take it off. Good operator tho, good video. I'm running a 500 SouthStar on an 855 TigerCat, Lil faster but, not tons faster....usually just under 20ftps on my 20 footers and around 17fps on my 16 footers. I favor the SouthStar overall but, Waratah does some things better. Both are good heads.

Do you prefer the super cut over the 3/4 pitch? Love the video by the way. I'm running a new 623 on a 830 Tigercat.
I havent ran the 3/4 more than a few weeks so Im not too sure but I like not having to change the big chain very often but it is slow.
Outstanding operator
