When the Russians first started coming to Brighton Beach I was living there with my mother. I moved away when I got married and raised a family. All these years later. I got divorced, my mother passed away and I moved into her house back in Brighton Beach. 100% Russian now and me.
I'm from Brooklyn and my parents and grandparents always bragged about Coney! I'm old enough to remember it's years of devastating blight. Gentrification is the savior of Coney today. How can suburban, artistic transplants not be moved by this place? We, as locals, have to accept that such renewal also means high prices for what were once cheap working class thrills!
@Jpsleeks I can't really remember. I Know that i got some of the footage by ripping it off youtube through the website zamzar. I think i just googled Coney island footage or something like that and used it. There was an old documentary on it and i just used the video from that. But i can't remember what it's called. Sorry!
I just learned that my paternal grandmothers side of the family used to own Coney Island but something happened and they were swindled out of it. Not sure how true the second part was but they most definitely did own it at one point.
Apologies…I meant that they had owned land on Coney Island. Not the whole island itself. I had just reread my initial post after seeing comments. Sorry They did own land there along with other families of course but from what I was told they along with others we’re basically swindled out/pushed out of their land and homes.
Trump and his family are nothing but White, dishonest, businesspeople. He should have never gotten near the presidency ! He should be in Jail but the Rednecks are in love with him. They think he's the next Jesus Christ.
I thank you much. I went to Coney Island. In 50's. 60's. Thanks
Здорово, всё-таки когда технологии идут на радость людям.

This is so like Riverview in Chicago!
Nice video. -Frm an old Steeplechaser. :-))
My critisism is that this is too short and I didn't really learn anything. Nice old footage though.
I never expect to learn anything on RUclips. When I do it's just something extra on top of the video.
Remove it from your memory if you feel you paid to much to watch a short video.
Coney lsand is still number 1

They owned Coney Island? I think you should do some research on that. You may be a little disappointed on what you find.
Someone gave you a big BullShit story.
Don't believe it. Never ONE family owned Coney Island EVER.

My great grandfather owned Staten Island.
I am in this class, where did u get the old footage that is what I was gonna do too
I see this is 12 years ago and I'm wasting my time. Why didn't you do an internet search genius ?
Brass Donald Trump buildings. I didn't know Trump owns all the brass and glass buildings in New York, lol.

I think the title is misleading. A better title might be, 'New Yorkers Remembering Coney Island.'
Ninety-eight percent of the time titles are misleading on RUclips. You should not be at all surprised.
@@Mr.Robert1 Perhaps you could suggest a better title than mine rather than comment on how I should react to content.
