    oh man... the coil induced misfire. Every NSX owner's nemesis! Here are a few issues I can document to help others. Yes, this has all happened to me.
    1. Water - many times the rubber gasket on the coil covers don't get put back on in the correct orientation or they become brittle and old, or they disappear completely. After a good rainstorm, or car wash... you'll know what i'm talking about :)
    2. The ground wire loop on the igniter harness sometimes comes loose especially on the CTSC's
    3. Issue with the coil or plug itself like Adam had here.
    Adam - If you go with a standalone you can update to newer coils (K Series or Bosch) as a few vendors sell really nicely done harness swap kits. As you probably know Coil-on-plug technology has leapfrogged pretty dramatically over the last 20yrs. The stock NSX coils and igniter box makes it feel like a distributor cap and coil by comparison.
    Thanks for the video!!!

      Very good Amigo. Great looking out for others. Very good points, and I will move in that direction when I have time. Have a great weekend!

      Thank you Brother. Dru works wonders on all of my rides, as you know. I do love that the NSX is under 3,000 lbs. Hopefully you can meet me in Hawaii on my next trip. Have a great weekend! 😄👍

    Man these misfires suck. I am glad you found and fixed it! With all the parts you store for your exotics, I am surprised you didn't have the OEM coils in your inventory. Have a great weekend, brother!

      It never ends, as you know Brother. I am glad that everything is good for today. I ordered a full set of spare coils from Honda a long time ago, but screwed up and didn't actually open the box. Fast forward, I opened the box up to find only front coils. 🤷‍♂️. Have a great weekend!

    I remember somebody telling me that coil on plug ignition is so powerful at the gap isn't as important like back in the days when cars had distributors.

    • @AdamSaruwatariXtreme
      @AdamSaruwatariXtreme  2 года назад +1

      That is a good point my friend. I will often gap above the OE Spec. if I have more spark energy. Having the gap the same as the other plugs is what I focus on.

  • @ridewhencan
    @ridewhencan 3 года назад

    Small point but I believe those plugs are heat range 7. OEM would be 6 . . .. The 11 refers to extended reach, so the burn starts closer to the center of the combustion chamber. Really liking your NSX videos.

    Misfires can be so frustrating and I agree that RC engineering is the best when it comes to injector service. They have saved me more than once. I love that NSX service cover. I'm going to have to hunt one down for when I get a 1st gen NSX.

      You and I are on the same page my friend. I feel like I am always fighting misfires. RC Engineering has also saved me many times. They have great people over there. I sure I am glad that I have the service bra. It makes any job on the NSX less stressful for me. Have a great weekend!

    Misfires suck I deal with so many every week It can drive me nuts lol. Just felt with a 2jz that some how had the wrong plugs all together in it I'm not even sure how it ran off them they were almost 1inch shorter then what was supposed to be in it. But I got it fixed and the owner couldn't get over how much better his car ran 😂😂😂. Glad to see you and dry are doing good. As always singing my love to you three stay up ride low brother 👍💯

      @@AdamSaruwatariXtreme I noticed that you are experiencing misfires in so many of your different cars. I know you know this too.
      Have you considered it might be the gas or how often any one of the cars sit for a period of time? Fuel level in gas tank?
      I can only provide my experience and my dad’s experience.
      Dad - mainly older cars. Mustang classics. One garaged and others outside. His pattern is to have fuel level too low because he doesn’t drive them. Just starts up and idle like once every few months. All engines ruined. Bad gas.
      Myself - F430 and E46 M3. Both garaged. Fuel level always nearly full so no condensation water build up. Drive once a month or around 6 weeks the longest.
      Allow warm up. Never just start and leave idle then shut off. Always go for a drive. Once warmed up heavily. Nearly half hour driving then begin to open up.
      I’ve had my F430 for nearly 15 years. No misfire. Same for M3. Both cars run great. I use mainly Chevron gas.

    The NSX is still one of my dream cars among others that just so happen to be in your collection 🤔 both you & Dru seem to have good taste in cars & choice of partner ☺️ Great video & nice picture! Were you & Dru able to ride that roller coaster?

Dru may differ in opinion on the choice of partner. 🤣🤣🤣 Dru and I were able to ride the Velocicoaster early because we are annual pass holders. I highly recommend it, and it is a blast.
