Good question. The scales with electronic parts are covered by a water resistance film, but it is not recommended to submerge them in water, as is the LED flashlight. That is the way I do it with knives. The only difference is when I'm putting new scales on I soak the new scales and the bare knife in warm water again. Also, I don't have a vise so I use some channel lock pliers with cardboard.
I didn't need to reheat the scales because I replaced them in a very short period of time. If they have cooled, it is a very good idea to reheat the scales, thanks.

The stay in glow scales made by nylons.The max usable temperature for nylon is 90 degrees Celsius ,so yes it work.
