    Home inspector before I purchased the house couldn't find it, plumber couldn't find it, pool guy couldn't find it and drained my pool into the street 🤪, painters couldn't find it, handyman couldn't find it. Had a landscaper come over and give me a quote and when I told him no one could locate it he said, "OH! IT'S RIGHT HERE!"..... And there it was😒😒

    I trust you gentleman with my life after your company resolved a raccoon invasion that 3 other companies could not! With thst said, My states utility company offered a deal where they'd insure water & sewer line & I paid for it by have an additional fee tacked onto both utility bills. Only to have their plumber come out & tell me I dont qualify because I sont have a clean out located in the front of my home! Then I was told the opening in the front lawn was for the city's sewer line. I never asked where the clean out was, or if I needed to install one seeing as my house is an older home. Thanks you guys are doing God's work for us homeowners! ❤

    Hi Guy's! I was told a while back by a long time plumber when looking for the sewer main cleanout always start by looking in front of the main or picture window of the house. It was good advice for my house. Thanks for all your hard work!

    I have a question and can not find an answer anywhere... my house does NOT have a main clean out. it was built in 1950 and and there is no known cleanout on the property. The main stack is located in the basement but has NO y connector to enter through. in the 40 years that we have lived here we have never had a single plumbing problem and now I have roots in my main line and need to snake them out and I don't know the best way to get in there. the main stack splits at the toliet on the first floor so I thought perhaps I could go through there? or I can enter in through the street side by the sidewalk. any advisement would be greatly appreciated.

    I had water backing up in my sink a month or so ago and called the plumbers. They came out and said that my cleanout, which is located in the crawl space, was not usable because the machine that they use to actually clean out the sewer lines was too big to get into the crawl space. Besides, the cleanout was at the end of the sewer pipe coming in horizontally into the house, and if we removed the plug at the end, the crawlspace would be flooded with whatever was in the sewer. Really stupid to put the only cleanout there in the crawlspace. I opted to have a new one installed outside between the driveway and the house, and it set me back about $2200. Turns out the sewer was clear and the temporary backup was most likely caused by the village doing some work on the drains at the end of the block. I hated spending the money for no reason, but the peace of mind knowing the sewer lines are clear is worth every penny.

    • @TwinHomeExperts
      @TwinHomeExperts  3 года назад

      They could have just extended that clean from under the crawl space and terminate to the side of the house. That may have been a option anyway.

      All that is true but Why they not put the auger down a toilet flange ? ,is at least 3” any auger or jetter will go down. After is clean and lines empty you could extend the clean out like the twin said. Still close to the $1000 tho

      Usually, the one closer to the building is the one that leads to the sewer line; the one a bit farther usually leads back towards the building to clean the drain lines under the building. A plumber put a clean out on my sewer line and showed me the clean out before installing it.

    My house was built in 1910, originally with a septic system.
    Years ago I thought I found and marked the clean out but now that I need it I can’t relocate it.
    Also, based on what I’m now learning I’m unsure if that was what I found ( too far from the house) but it looked like a cast iron clean out.
    I really need to find it. I guess I’ll be out digging and using my metal detector this afternoon. Wish me luck or send suggestions.

      That's probably the main water shut off valve to your house.

    • @katmandudawn8417
      @katmandudawn8417 Год назад +1

      @@TheFluidArt No, the main shut off is in the sidewalk.
      The clean out was about where I thought( we saw it on the sewer camera) but never located it in the ground. I was right despite what the “experts” said. I ended up replacing a damaged section line. I put a new clean out in then. It’s closer to the property line. Sometimes, the town will snake out the line for free if they don’t have to really come on to your property.
      I don’t expect to need it done but I’m ready if need be.
      Only problem is a couple of weeks after my new clean out was installed, I came home to find a hose coming from my neighbor’s backyard and into my sewer line.
      Turns out the guy he had hired to empty his pool was using my sewer to get rid of the water. I still can’t figure out why he would think he could use the sewer line on another property.

    My house is 20 years old. Some of my neighbors have cleanouts at the edge of their front yard next to the sidewalk. I don't see one in my small front yard. There is a cleanout in my basement bedroom. Will that be the only one or should there be one outside in my front yard as well.

    • @SunandSurf
      @SunandSurf 2 месяца назад +1

      There should be one in your front yard as well. Look for an S stamped in the curb. If your neighbors is located say 2' in from the sidewalk yours should be close to that same distance. My house had an S stamped in the curb near the edge of the driveway but I finally found it 3" away under the driveway. I saw cut the driveway, dug down 4" and found a broken pipe with roots. I fixed it myself for about 20 dollars in parts. My neighbor paid a plumber 8 thousand dollars to fix his. He got gouged. Check out the other houses on your street to see if they are similar in location. Buy or make a 2 handle 3' long metal probing bar and carefully look for it. Don't be afraid to fix it yourself.

      If your system is draining fine the only thing I would do is measure the clean out it’s probably between 2-4 inches across the pipe is, and I would buy a cap or also called a outside plug for the clean out and put it on there. The store can show you what wrench to buy to put these on. Hope this helps somewhat if that’s what you were wondering!

    • @TwinHomeExperts
      @TwinHomeExperts  5 лет назад +3

      it's preferably better to have the main line cleanout outside. I will take a garage clean out any day. The downside is potential sewer backing up in the garage VS outside in the yard. Just maintain and you will never have a backup issue.

    • @TwinHomeExperts
      @TwinHomeExperts  6 лет назад +2

      2 way clean out allows you to go in reverse towards the house to remove a future clog or maintain the line VS going into the house to remove a toilet to snake the line,then it also allows you to snake towards the street to clean or maintain .
      If you dont install a 2 way clean out ,then you will ONLY be able to clean towards the street.
      Call in or email support@twinhomeexperts.com for further support.

    If you are in a subdivision look and see if you or any neighbors have a black pipe (ABS) about 10' -12' from the curb face. It will be just barely visible to prevent breakage from lawn mowers etc. Some water districts require an S stamped in the curb. S meaning sewer. The main cleanout near the street will be on your property so it is your responsibility not the city. If your property line is 10" from the curb face it will be 10"-12' from curb face and may be below the surface. This is not always the case but is worth looking into before spending money on a plumber. Some water districts require a clean out run to the surface and some don't. If they don't require the cleanout at the property line to extend to the surface it may be up to 5' deep below the surface level. Most newer homes also have a cleanout in front where the sewer pipe enters the house. It can also be in the garage floor and will have a slot to unscrew for access.
