I have to admit i was leaning towards something with maybe better build quality and feel, but some of these features look hard to pass up. I could definitely have some good fun with that touch pad.
Hello, I have a microkorg right now and I am thinking about selling it for this. I really like the idea of a bigger keys that are semi weighted. As well as a better interface by the looks of it. I will be playing some small events a long with a band and i was curious is this would be a good fit
+Sammy Snider I have this and was looking at getting a MicroKorg. How is the sequencer on it? The keys on the Impulse are very nice as are the pads, but the endless scroll nobs are eh, and It feels limited with just the 8 of them.
Hello. Is the controler able to handle all these mapping functions plugged into an audio interface via MIdi? My usb are unusable.. I suspect it is possible, but dont know if USD add any additional functionality not available thru midi. THANKS
You mentioned you still use a Korg stage piano. Can the sounds that you manipulate THROUGH the Novation then be sent TO the Korg stage piano? (I know the Novation has a Midi out, but it does not have a Midi through.)
I sure wish my Impulse Controller worked like it does in this video, but it doesn't. I make slow progress getting the features to work. Every success is hard battle. Is it because I'm using an old pc instead of a Mac. Any thoughts on that one?
Can I program the faders and knobs from the keyboard itself or do I need to use a computer? I just want to control my synth module with it- fade in sounds, turn midi note numbers on / off. Thanks
Is it possible to use the clip launch for ONLY one instrument? I want to make drum sounds in the drumrack section and I want to fire them up individually while playing some supersaws with sylenth. How does this work? Should I make a lot of drum racks in series or is there a better way to avoid that scene control shit?
hmm still not sure if i would buy this tho. the Novation impulse 61 seems more appreciated than the AKAI MPK249. Still think im gonna buy the novation impulse 61.
Prabhdeep Singh you can align the drum pads with the active keys on a vst. Just push the “control” button and touch a drum pad, you can assign whatever note you like on the keyboard to whatever drum pad using the menu
You can't really compare them because the impulse is a MIDI controller and the Mini Nova is a synthesizer.... so basically the impulse doesn't make the sound by itself, you just control software synths that come from your computer
I'm way late, but I'll answer for posterity since I have both. 2 different beasts. Impulse is a controller and the mini nova is a hardware synth. After using software synths for years and thinking there was no difference, the mini nova single handedly changed my mind. Its a great sounding and more importantly fun little synth. It gets the creative juices flowing for sure. And the lows sound way fatter then a soft synth. I know there will be people who say there isn't a difference, and I used to be one of those people. Soft synths are great and make more possible for way less money but a good real hardware synth is something special.
Late here, but it simply means the faders control tracks 1-8 and when you bank 🔼 they now control tracks 9-16 and up again will be 17-24 and so on. Up and down 8 tracks at a time.
@@theSimonManuel hi! Someone know how to "bank" the PADS ? I mean, to select for example another octave, mantaining the sounds in the previous selection.. or any other way to do this?
Ola amigo, Comprei recentemente hum Controlador impulso 61 e nao sei USAR, gostaria Que Este Vídeo fossa editado in English parágrafo facilitar compreensão do OSU, Obrigado
Look's a bit flimsy..look at 6 mins in..When the guy press a key.. the whole keyboard goes down and bends. Looks like pretty weak stucture if it moves that much with a keypress.
why are the example songs from every company except for native instruments and image Line so shitty? xD amzing controller but not a good song for explaining everything.
I like the way his eyebrows punctuate his conversation. Pause, raising of eyebrows carry on next sentence :-) You won't be able to stop noticing it now....
It's called breathing. Unfortunately it's becoming all the rage these days to edit all of the breathing out making everyone sound like they just did a huge line of blow. ;)
automap is ridiculous shit. "easy mapping" means extremely tedious and contraintuitive mapping on a user interface that is just bad and horribly formatted. also they dont have any kind of downloadable maps, the software comes completely empty!!!??? if they boast about this crap, they should include factory maps at least fot 10-20 most popular VSTs. thats not a big deal for the manufacturer. top of that automap makes a dedicated copy of all VSTs on install which is just a joke, and doenst delete them on uninstall. it leaves your hd full of crap also there is extra pontential for options on several points in the hardware which would have been very easy to implement with a firmware update that never happened. (no pad banks???) they basically sold this harware for years on full price without a single update. its ridiculous. only upside that the hardware/keyboard is pretty good quality, much better to play than todays 2-4 octave keys in the same price range. also they discontinued the official novation forum where ppl would be able to exchange info or maybe tweaks, maps about these problems.
The impulse is nice for arpeggios on my DX7. It isn’t the easiest machine to understand, it has a lot more potential than I can grasp currently
Same here:(
I just purchased one of these and this has been really helpful, much appreciated :)
thanks for the review .ive just bought Novation impulse .Now all ineed to do is lurn the keybord :D
great review ! thanks this has been useful for helping me decide between the Novation impulse and the Akai Mpk , with impulse in the lead :D
Agreed !! browsing some forums and reviews i heard the same, thanks Bro ! I Will get the impluse :)

in the impulse 25, can the knobs be assigned to volume different instruments. say, knob1 = piano; knob2 = strings; knob3 = organ; and so on..
Marlo Concepcion I’m not sure about this, but could u help me with how to live loop on the impulse ?

Does the midi/plugin/mixer button options suggest that you can only have 1 mapping available for your soft synths?
Amazing
thanks Rob,

Hi, does it work well with OS Yosemite 10.10?
how do i change the polarity from the sustain pedal?
hmm still not sure if i would buy this tho. the Novation impulse 61 seems more appreciated than the AKAI MPK249. Still think im gonna buy the novation impulse 61.
how can you change the speed on the roll mode? i have logic pro x and can't seem to figure it out with my 25
Did you figure it out?
Can we launch scenes in ableton live through the impulse ?
Is this keyboard able to play a live gig, without having to plug it through a computer?
+Casper Tonnisen i believe the 5 pin MIDI outputs allow you to connect to your favourite synth or module.
When does automap work for FL studio???
Ye, I havent found a midi yet that auto works fully with fl studio... its a shame:/
Hello there, is there anyway we can change octave of drum pads in novation Impulse please help.
Prabhdeep Singh you can align the drum pads with the active keys on a vst. Just push the “control” button and touch a drum pad, you can assign whatever note you like on the keyboard to whatever drum pad using the menu
What are the parameters of the computer in the movie?
You can't really compare them because the impulse is a MIDI controller and the Mini Nova is a synthesizer.... so basically the impulse doesn't make the sound by itself, you just control software synths that come from your computer
Shame that most Midi's don't work with automap with FL studio.. Its freaking 2020 already, fix it pls:P
word, 2 years later
What do you think is better- novation impulse or mini nova? why?
I'm way late, but I'll answer for posterity since I have both. 2 different beasts. Impulse is a controller and the mini nova is a hardware synth. Does this work well with Cubase 7?
What does it mean when you say the faders are “bankable”?

@@_ataims could use a couple of different approaches.. What DAW are you running?
what daw do you use?
Would like more of a guide. You dip into but assume high level of knowledge.
what monitor is that in the background?
KRK VXT6 or mb VXT8
WideOpenChange true.... but honestly how often do you play the extremes? I would love an 88, but that's my logic for being ok with 61. 😊
Apparently the AutoSpell function doesn't work with AutoMap.
is it better than akai mpk249

anyone using it with logic pro without automap ?
I’m trying to do this now. I’m using midi mode only. Did you find success?

Does it work's with Ableton live?
Gustavo Vega it comes with Ableton Lite download
sickkk
thanks
of course, glad you enjoyed it :)
Oh, ok thanks :D

:)
the drum pads and keys are shockingly bad on the akai! i bought a mpk49 and sent it back. get the impulse its so much better!
You look like an english version of Seth Green.

Don't ever use automap - if it still exists - it's utter sheit
