- This Chainsaw man Power anime figure by Furyu was sort of trending last weekend - for all the wrong reasons. Well, I suppose scale figure collectors who don't own this figure would be celebrating if they wanted one, but the sheer extent of how figures made by FuRyu and F:NEX are crashing in market value even caught me by surprise. We discuss the reasons why this may be happening, and perhaps how you can actually consider taking advantage of this sale.

I've seen people quoting 20,000yen for shipping a single scale figure before in mfc comments section. It's just crazy
I actually started buying resins so I didn’t really mind the price on shipping, when you get shipping quotes for ¥160k I really don’t mind paying ¥20k haha. And the trick is to buy multiple figures at once, I have my preorders with AmiAmi and I combine all my orders into one shipment, instead of paying ¥5k for shipping each figure separately I can combine 4 or 5 figures and only pay ¥11k.
Yup I hate the shipping, ive had problems before in which they chage the price increase it after ive supposedly paid it all. So there always an extra charge for more shipping fee
I can’t believe the power figure went down THAT LOW. I remember it being one of the first Power, actually one of the first Chainsaw man scale figures and since I love the series so much I told myself I wanted to get a scale figure as soon as possible. But once I saw the price tag for this figure I said “hell no!” And so I waited until some prize figures were released. The second reason I didn’t pre order this Power figure is because of the face since it did look a little off. So that plus the price tag was an instant no. But now since the price fell so hard I couldn’t pass it up so I bought it. I did have to pay 5012 yen for shipping for surface mail premium

3600 yen to ship it is indeed reasonable as long you are willing to wait longer.
Everytime FuRyu drops a new Overlord figure the prize is so absurdly high that one could think the figure is made out of pure gold😭.
Picked up the Enoshima Junko bunny on a hefty discount, always wanted her but the original MSRP was too high for me to swallow. Below 30k is excellent for her unique bunny design
Furyu is trying to artificially increase price of figures and people are not falling for it. I could have got that B-Style Villetta Nu for $50 less than my pre order. That really shocked me because the other Geass 1/4 figures are still holding decent value on aftermarket.
Only thing is, it’s not just Furyu stuff that is getting binned though. Even Myethos stuff gets binned. I think it’s just a matter of the MSRP being too high and the global and even Japanese consumers being weary about spending too much money on a hobby. So the prices just end up tanking if it does not sell out.
You have a point, I think figures and figure collecting had a huge boom very quickly in a short amount of time, stuff like this thta happen this way tend to fall much harder from the high.
You make this video as I wait for Dark Paladin from Yugioh by Furyu. Shipping was high, but my choice by DHL. My only nitpick with the Kanna Kimono figure is that compared to my other 1/7 kimonos, her head is big. They didn't cheap out with Kanna, the bamboo and egg looking girl use magnets plus an alternate hand holding an Arrow instead of the fan. I think they overproduced her, it was a reissue after all. I liked Takt Op Destiny too. That second episode made me sad. Hopefully I won't be sad when I open Dark Paladin tomorrow.
Indeed, i even said Kanna is potentially a good buy because i really don't see much wrong with the figure. The one that I really took a liking on is the Takt op destiny figure
I actually ordered him too but through Hobby Genki because of the US to Yen exchange rate lol I paired him with Summer Melt by Altrr since Hobby Genki had her on discount lol
My view is just because it's discounted...even heavily, doesn't mean you should buy it. The money spend can be used towards something I really want to have.
I've been collecting for about five years now and sitting around 41 scale figures and 1 resin, and still have plenty of room to spare but I'm in no hurry to fill space. I do own seven Furyu figures and I did spend more than I should have on a few of them because I was ordering with a local store. I can only say one of them I was a little disappointed as the hair isn't as good as what it should have been. But I do love the characters and overall they are well done. I don't have anything PO'd with them and nothing announced as of yet that I'm interested in. There prices seem to be a bit better than they were though with current stuff.
17:45 I payed ¥25k for this, and I didn’t know about the support rods until after I got it. I payed ¥11k to ship her. I absolutely loved this figure when I seen it.
Dva by Blizzard was under $10 sold by Gamestop. I believe it was a pricing error because a ton of figures were at that price. I don't know if Gamestop honor the prices.
18:51 I payed full price ¥44k for this, but I was able to ship her with another figure, which I couldn’t do with the China dress version.
But this is based on an image from the anime. It was in the end credits but I can’t remember her doing it in the actual anime, and it’s not in the manga.
Actually I got the FuRyu wedding dress Rem & Shera (How Not to Summon a Demon Lord) and they’re absolutely beautiful, I love those 2 figures, they did a perfect job bringing the picture to life, looks exactly like the art.

@@GuncaFromlv Yes they did it perfectly, even getting the shape of the flowers on their headdress perfect, I absolutely love those figures, I love how the dresses are painted with a slight pink sheen to them, I couldn’t be more happy with them.
@@InfamyOrDeath-__- Another amazing detail is that Rem has her tail under the wedding dress! And they did some wonderful sculpting on their feet too, even though you literally can't see them! :D
I got the emilia Shiromuku figure at like a 40% discount, happy with it but shipping rate was very high.

17:45 I actually like this Albedo and think that with this discount, it's a good deal. I don't pay much attention to the metal pods. I'm more concerned with it being slightly too small for a 1/7th figure, compared with the Wing Vers. by Kadokawa for instance. The Kanna figure was a rerelease and i guess everybody who wanted her already got her, so that would explain the pricedrop for that one imo.

I do agree that FuRyu has definitely been slacking it with their quality. I recently did an unboxing video of Miku Fireworks Festival Ver and the quality of the base is almost at prize figure quality, which is disappointing for a 33k yen figure.
I got the invoice from amiami, power 1/7 scale, plus 2 of my nendoroids was 3980 yen for surface parcel shipping. It's not bad, I guess 😅
Just bought the Power fig in Amiami last week and thank god the shipping isn't that expensive 😂

Those $2,000 kimono figures Furyu collaborated with that one kimono shop (yoshitake??) are HIGH WAY robbery!! The actual dolls in Japan with a more elaborate kimono cost a fraction of the price. Shame on Furyu and their outlandish pricing. They should stick to tenitol or prize figures. Those are their best in my opinion.
I feel bad for those doll makers. Their skill and effort is disproportionally cheaper than these figures
@@rdxzero yeah I know. Its just another cash grab for Furyu. I don't understand why they charge so much for mediocre products. And the fact that they keep getting away with it is more concerning. FREEING is no better either.
91% off. Girl's frontline ots 14 reverse Studio 1/8 on Japan figure. Yesterday, thought it was an error so bought one. I've not heard anything bad about it, thought 1/8 is small.
I have that China Dress Albedo, I haven’t opened it yet, but the wings will have to sag, because I’m not using those support poles. It’s very badly designed, the wings could have easily been made to key into the base so support poles wouldn’t be needed.

Nikke is harder to predict - and i might be biased because i do like Nikke characters a lot. Nowadays it seems like nothing is spared no matter how popular it is, be it Azur Lane or FGO.
I have the Mew Ichigo 1/7 scale FNEX figure. She came out really good but she didn’t sell because the Tokyo Mew Mew New anime wasn’t popular enough.
Oh, I tried watching that anime but i didn't like it and dropped it lol. At least I can give FuRyu a thumbs up for not neglecting characters from seasonal anime though
After seeing more freeing figure on sales in amiami I was about to regret preordering from goodsmiles but then I remember the shipping cost I paid in goodsmiles was about $18 in the states compared to the estimated shipping cost from amiami that I assumed it to be around the price of another figure.
Yes, you need to always factor in the total amount. For figure with large boxes sometimes i won't even get it from Japan despite a generous discount because of the shipping costs.
Ended picking up Power after watching this video, going to pick boat to save on shipping.

Regarding Furyu, I stopped pre-ordering anything due to them and their Albedo with the massive support poles 😢
Now I just wait after release to make sure the figure looks like (or close like) the promotion pictures 😅

I couldn't remember which company's version was that, but once i saw the picture i knew it was that one, yeah the one i placed in this video. Even the Good Smile version was discounted by half back then
I got some legit Kotobukiya scale figures for $61, $35, and $47 respectively on Amazon. You would think they were bootlegs at such a good price but no!! They are from the Idolmaster series so I am guessing Amazon got too much stock and was selling them quite cheap to get rid of them. The quality on all three is AMAZING. I'm not complaining 😅 I know this isn't Furyu but it just reminded me of that lol.
Amazon Japan is among the best places to find discounts, with the only catch being you need to pay for DHL shipping. I like DHL and I prefer to get my stuff fast so i am okay with it
@@EXkurogane Well I was referring to Amazon US because I live in America and have prime shipping (which is free for a monthly fee) but I would assume it is the same for Amazon Japan? 😊 I dont know if you live in Japan or not but maybe all Amazon have a prime membership deal!

On the subject of Albedo figures, I really wish they would make figures for the other characters in the series. But I'm probably in the minority of not liking the character.
FuRyu’s scale figures tend to be hit or miss in terms of quality. Their Miku Chronicles scale is amazing and I bought her last year! I am waiting on their Dark Paladin figure to arrive! I think FuRyu is a more consistent prize figure / mid tier figure manufacturer because their prize figures and Tenitol like figures are great! FuRyu’s Tenitol Ai’s is better than that Power lol

The company behind that Agir figure, Actoys, have ceased operations. Yes, shut down. That Agir is their last release.
@@EXkurogane Weren't Actoys and Emontoys the same, though? I could swear that's who did Celestia Ludenberck for Myethos years ago, which I have and love, though it cost me quite a bit when I finally got her. If so, surprised they went under despite Agir's major packaging f-up. 😯

Is furyu a Japan brand? Finally China's figure brands are making a dent, myethos figures got dioramas while just same price with Japan brands, competition will drive Japan brands to become fair too and start making ones w dioramas or lower their price tags

It's simple economics. Low demand & high supply = bargain bin. Now you need to ask the question, why low demand for such a popular character? Because something is terribly wrong with the figure. If you saw user pictures of that figure it's not hard to figure out why. It's not worth 35,000yen. A good product and a good reputation will sell on its own. My job here as a content creator is just to share my experience with other collectors on what to watch for, so that you don't waste your hard earned money on trash.
Yes and No.
Sale does factor in does if the figure is good or bad, not 100% but it does. I think it's fair that EXkuro is pointing out the issue with Furyu scales. If the bad sales due to the characters is not very popular within the anime figures scene then it's subjective whether the figure is good or not. But if bad sales is due to the figure quality then it's objectively a bad figure
Reality is that, a studio will always think their final product is good. We need user/customer feedbacks, we can't just have the mentality of "If you not gonna buy it then don't complain". There's a difference between "ranting on and on about something you hate" VS "having genuiene critcisms in hopes of getting better products". Of course people who actually paid for it have more says in the matter that doesnt mean others who didn't can't have their own opinions.
