Thernal imaging your engine's exhaust manifold is also useful diagnostics for seeing which cylinder is cold, i.e. not working (injector, spark plug if you have those, etc.)
I use security cameras that are Wifi connected to my house's Wifi. The ones I use are Anran off of Amazon. They work good, I had to replace on after about a year and a half, but at $80 not to upset. Two other cameras have been running for around 3 years, in Florida weather, with no problems.
The most valuable thing I ever had was an anchor drag alarm app. There is nothing more stressful than trying to get some sleep when on anchor while windy and wondering if you’re dragging to the rocks. There are numerous apps available. Mine is no longer available, probably because of the name “Drag Queen” (Really?). They typically work by setting an alarm range from your current location or learn a swing pattern to set a range. One thing to note, since they use satellite navigation, the phone will need to have access to the sky so metal won’t work but wood or fiberglass isn’t usually a problem. While using the app, the phone is using a lot of power like phone navigation so you MUST have the phone connected to an external power source so it’s internal battery isn’t exhausted in a few hours.
Interesting toys Clark. Of course the one I' m most interested in is the most expensive so probably not in the budget for a few months. Keep the good stuff coming.
@Clarks-Adventure Sorry Clark, I only asked because another channel used Temptress as a marker in explaining where they were anchored in Luperon. And I know you've been in a house for awhile so I wasn't sure what was happening there. Hopefully you can heal and move forward. Wishing you the best.
The cellular security camera is really just a way of selling you a cellular subscription for life otherwise why would it not be both Wi-Fi and cellular. The infrared camera could be a lifesaver if someone tripped, banged their head and got knocked out then went over the side in the dark, if you could grab the camera quickly enough you'd probably more easily pick them up in the dark than a flashlight(unless it was like the sun). I've wanted a decent infrared camera for a while but can never justify the price, this one looks good for the money.
A man on a show today basically said I am stupid if I don't get a $20 or so dollar a month subscription to one or more of the AIs. He uses his to do stock analysis and uses three different once to get a consensus. He uses the stock charts as the data used. And he has the AI save ongoing data. You thermal camera reminded me of those charts. Can the image of you running engine be used for ongoing analysis of its performance by and AI. Can the prompts be made to do so? Maybe there could be the creation of an AI for that type of image analysis?
I have an old mobile phone down below working as a hot spot for the boat (should change it as it has a battery of the wrong kind but), and in the mast I have a camera with a WLAN antenna and a small solar panel, I think they're from ReoLink, been there for years and is still working, and I'm in the Scandinavian climate, I don't cruise however. ........ Affordable night vision (to avoid colision or find person overboard) would be on my wish list, but would have to be low cost.
Thanks for never shilling dried up vegetable water for health!

Loved my Drag Queen

When I get back to the boat I'll take it out in the dark over the water.
It might be well worth having as a navigation device
I like that thermal camera. Have you moved ashore? What's going on with Temptress?
Just sad after the divorce. I'm now waiting for my European friend to get well so I can take care of things there.
Then back to the boat.

The thermal camera meter would be useful. We have a thermal reader but it just give a temp read out.

When I get to the boat I'm going to test that very thing.
Happy Christmas Clark 🎉
Thanks.
Same to you
