    Thanks for changing my views, I haven't worked out in 4 months. I am only 20, luckily I got the info at this age. I was working out and had my head shaved for whatever reason, now I've been growing it and the longer it gets the better I look. I'll never cut it again. I eat raw liver everyday, half a pound atleast. I started following you a year ago, but my skin is clear, my hair looks great. You're also right, women do love hair, and really do not care about muscles. I've never had one tell me "oh, you have muscles now" when I was working out but they did say "oh, you have hair now". Thanks again.

      @@Aedonius lol maybe when 25 or 30 and up, but im 20, and the ones my age are having kids with guys who dont workout, they have long hair though. I see it because im friends on FB with all my classmates. You most likely workout, and have that delusion in your mind. These guys would be considered "skinny" by gymbros like yourself, but again, these delusions are in your mind, you brought up dad bod, showing that in your mind, anyone who doesn't workout must be fat. Also, keep working out to protect people bud, then when you get popped with a gun you'll realize all that working out did you no good for protection lmao.

      @@Aedonius Big muscles are not the result of being strong but the result of stressing your muscles. Once you stop, they go back to their natural state. That's why you need to keep stressing them at the gym. You're trying to keep up an unnatural physique.
      Also it's unheard of that somebody has not been able to carry an animal. That's literally what our natural bones and muscles are made for. No need for training.
      Nobody who works out actually does it for performance or ability. They train for the next gym session. then again and so on in a circle until the heart attack.

      It's had an impact on me as well. I never really got into running, but whereas I used to be indifferent towards thinking much about them besides them not looking healthy, but after the Goatis videos, I now laugh every time I see a runner and think to myself "How much that person hates themselves" especially when I hear that heavy panting as they go by me, LOL.

      @@prussiansocietyofamerica Yeah, I used to be very much into working out. Worked out 4-5 days a week even after I worked a physical labor job for 40 hours a week, for about 4 years. Got good gains, but naturally just stopped working out due to general exhaustion and wanting to take a break. Now after doing my research, listening to my body, and hearing what Goatis has to say about working out, it's like a lightbulb went off and it all made sense👍 Ik LOL the panting surely signifies theyre having fun right??

A lot of these "excesses" in life as I refer to them, are unfortunately programmed into people by our modern ratrace society. But they leave everyone unhappy and unfulfilled. When you begin to ignore popular opinion and go by what your body wants, you will completely be in a different living paradigm and will be shocked at how great and balanced you will feel in every way. If you ask me, Men are WAY WAY too obsessed with having a "purpose" in life, and it being drilled into them that they need to be on their purpose constantly, when it's actually better to have no purpose, because objectively, there is no purpose.

I've been looking at a lot of videos online and the type of clientele that go to the gym today even compared to 10 or 20 years ago, are like lowlife hoodlums and ghetto street rats. I've also been hearing this trend of Gen Z'er girls who claim the "Gym Is My Sanctuary" LOL.

      Sad my grandma told me she knew a guy at the post office who died at 50 something she said she doesn’t know why he died so young he ate lots of vegetables 🥦 🥗 salads and jogged everyday for years.

    I was involved in sports like soccer, track n field and cross country in my early years and teenager, but once I got into my mid twenties, I realized that my grandparents and other people of their generation never ran marathons or stressed the body aside from the hard work they performed on a farm when they were younger. I saw the similarities to how our bodies are like car engines and that they have as long or short of a warranty as the stress we place upon them. I don’t run or jog for any reason since coming to these realisations.

      it is the worst form of cardio for your joints. some people are naturally built for it but a lot of us arent. I love swimming instead. Anything other than a brisk jog shatters my glass ankles and gives me shin splints

      @@cyan0xide I started running because of a girl when I was around 105 KG. I was morbidly obese and wanted to lose weight to be attractive. Than I gave up because my ankle and shins were too painful. Started walking daily instead and change my diet. Sadly no one told me I can lose weigh that way without torturing myself.

      Me too and I hated gym class too. I graduated in 2010 and haven't exercised or ran since. I just found Goatis like a year ago but it's so funny how I always new instinctively that exercise is BS. I just walk to work and walk when I feel like it. I know many 40+ people who have extremely damaged knees from running and back problems from lifting. But yeah it's so healthy lol.

    I don't even walk fast.
    I am slowest person on the side walk, and I don't give a f....ak.
    Even walking fast puts your body in stress.

    My father bought his book in the 70's, stopped smoking and took up running. He still drank heavily and was a sugar addict. I am amazed he made it to 84.

      @@frederico-d3l 95 is an achievement in today's society. My great grandma is 86 and I'm hoping for her to be a centenarian. But if she doesn't get there, then hopefully she makes it to at least 95 before passing.

    The older I get the more I realize how much I actually listen to my body and my instincts. My anorexic mom would shame me for not going jogging with her. So glad I didnt care.

    I read his books in high school. I remember reading one passage where he described eating M&Ms throughout the day, saying, "It's no problem, I'll just burn them off when I run." His beliefs about carbs were popular at the time: you should eat lots and lots of carbs, especially pasta, the day before a marathon, and always "keep your fuel tank full". Seems like he was a sugar addict. I remember when he died. Everyone was in shock. They did an autopsy and found that his aorta was 80% blocked. Not his coronary arteries, mind you, but his aorta. The coroner said something like "To think this man ran marathons staggers the mind." Today, doctors know that long-term runners, especially marathon runners, have abnormally low heart rates, and usually need pacemakers when they are old.

    It really is amazing to me how much I was brainwashed to seek out pain. I was told that painful things are good my whole life, seek out what you hate. I think it is part of why my health is so fucked. Now I realize how completely ridiculous this mentality is. I enjoy light exercise, but now if I ever start to feel discomfort I stop… cuz my body is telling me it is time to rest.

    As a 10-22 year old I loved to sprint and I was faster than almost everyone I raced. I loved to ice skate and was the fastest skater ever and no one could catch me on the ice. In gym, they had us race and I beat even the track members! The coaches said they wanted me for the track program but at that time they wanted you to jog for miles in 1968-72. No, I said: I love to sprint not jog forever in plastic "sweat suits" they used at that time. The running craze was instituted by cultural social planners and I remember when Fix died when I was in college. I liked the speed of sprinting but not jogging for hours.

      I love to sprint for the sheer thrill and fun, I like jogging if it's to travel from point A to point B in short time if necessary, idgaf about people in the streets seeing me as a weirdo, some get intimidated lmao. I hate jogging in rounds, I don't like it, I would rather walk in rounds than doing that.

    Pheidippides the messenger and professional long distance runner ran from Marathon, Greece to Athens in 490BC to spread a message that Greece had won the battle of Marathon over the Persians. Upon crying, ‘Hail, we are the winners’ he then collapsed and died soon after. He ran a total of 240kms in two days.

    I'd like to also add, that Men who work 40-80 or more hours per week at their job, is equivalent of stress and damage to the heart and body as running, jogging and/or the gym. This is why more Men are dying early from heart attacks and getting Alzheimer's from overworking, especially in America. I've done extensive research on what level of work is consider optimal for the Human Body and how our ancestors lives prior to industrialization, and throughout most of human history, people only would labor about 15-20 hours per week. Anything above 40 hours is a danger zone, yet people act like 14 hour workdays should be "normal". Only in this sick twisted, conditioned world we live in, do Men think it's normal to not spend 80% of your waking hours actually ENJOYING LIFE and being around family and friends.

      @droppeddogs Indeed. The Dalai Lama also made a statement about this as well, it might have been inspired by Plato's original statement and philosophy on it. I believe Men who innately understand their self-value (if they have any) and are fully aware at an early age, know better than to work like slaves. When I turned 18, I had absolutely no ambition to become "part of the workforce" LOL, and it created extreme concern from the school principal that I never wanted a summer job throughout my entire time in High School. Yet I have become a Grown Man to see all the Men around me who don't know what purpose they would have or would be "bored to tears" if they didn't work less than 60 hours a week, LOL. All of them have major health and stress issues, but they consider that "freedom" or "normal" for their age. It's unreal how Men can be conditioned. As if I, as a teenager, should want to be "working a summer job like a slave" while girls my age were out on the beach hanging with friends. Uh yeah, sure!

      Agreed, at one point in work a few years back we were doing 6x12 hour shifts. One day off. Talk about burn out. Even now 4x 12hr shifts is too much. You never feel as though you get enough sleep.

      @@gabigochev7703 It's still slavery and detrimental. No person should be working 12 hours per day. After 4 hours of regular work, the body begins to break down and cognitive impairment begins to set in. Ironically, that is where the employer decision to permit 15-30 minute "breaks" or "lunch" came in, with the idea in mind that this will rejuvenate you to do "more work". Also, most modern workplaces expect you to be doing redundant work even when it's quiet, which means sweeping floors or tending to unnecessary tasks. Prior to the industrial revolution, most employment or even those who worked in agriculture, if working throughout the day, only did so at intervals rather than it being a constant of repetitive tasks and motions. Take the case of a Cafe Barista. They actually make between 400 - 800 coffee drinks for customers per day, when it may be more realistically feasible from a normal labor standpoint to make between 50-80 coffee drinks per day. We live everything in excesses, and you wonder why people are so ill and also have no passion or soul left from this life-sucking type of work!

    I think the root of this issue goes much deeper, the whole ''stress your body/exercise'' idea comes out of the idea that suffering and being stressed are good things and you should be shamed for not wanting to experience stress or suffering. (no pain no gain, literally, in all areas of life. Also self-imposed pain if possible)
    If the world was to accept the idea that stress (of ANY kind, since every kind of stress ultimately translates into physical stress which is basically stress on the heart. For an example, psychological stress IS also physical stress/coronary stress) -> heart damage -> death/shortened lifespan, many realities of our modern world would need to be put under intense scrutiny, which would bring modern civilization crashing down.
    If the media, politics, economy, work environment, etc, are stressing someone out, they aren't just experiencing a ''bad day'' they're actually getting their lifespan cut. And for what? This type of thinking opens up pandora's box xD That's why I think the ''grind culture'' and the exerciseMaxxing will never be acknowledged as being stupid/unhealthy.

    This makes total sence.
    In nature and in modern society women live longer because men were out hunting, building ect.
    Even in today standards - bricklayers, labourers ect, all the phisical jobs that are taxing on the body are 90% male.
    Whilst women stayed at home lived a slow and steady life.
    Doesn't take a sciencetist to work this out.
    This applies in historic times & modern times

      No we can tell it's not man's labour because we see the same thing in animals and in fact the female advantage effect is less large in humans. Pregnancy and lactation take a huge amount of energy and nutrition from the woman's body and usually women are the ones waking up in the night to feed the baby - that means being sleep deprived for a lot of years if the woman has multiple children.@@gigas302

    We were forced to run in grade school, junior high and high school. I remember the pain in my chest, a burning feeling. At some point I also developed asthma, and that made it even harder to run. I remember that the Physical Education teachers had no mercy, and did not care if a student was in pain, throwing up, or having trouble breathing. The student would need to make up whatever running assignment that they had missed.

    Strenuous cardio is incredibly damaging, having your heart rate go crazy for dozens of minutes or even hours a day is insane.

      Primates rarely run except in case of danger... They use body weight and walking as exercise. There is an instinctual reason as to why children are so attracted to the monkey bars and climbing trees.

    I stopped exercising at 12 when I found out that I could tell my PE teacher I had got my period and had cramps. I have not looked back since. I am never running unless there is a tiger after me.

    Look up anyone who runs ultra marathon and tell me If they look healthy. Look up courtney dauwalter shes 38 and looks 78. Exercise is good for human body but only a low level stress exercise like bodyweight training etc.

    Even nowadays in the coutryside of Romania you never see someone jogging. The elders think that if you run on the streets for no reason at all it means that you are crazy and they start gossiping or worrying about you thinking that you have serious mental problems. 😊

    Thanks for posting this, Goatis. I remember hearing about Jim Fixx during this time. EVERYBODY did. "The Complete Book of Running" was a best-seller and what everybody was talking about. I ran cross-country and the mile back in HS because my dad told me to. I wouldn't say I liked it at all. I felt that unhealthy stress like you talk about. I bought into the idea that exercise was "healthy," but the stress kept telling me to stop. I'd see fellow students balm up before (and ice up their knees and hips after) a long run, and think, " How is this healthy"?" Fortunately, I learned that running, especially on hard surfaces, breaks down the cartilage in your knees and hips, and stopped running altogether in my early 20s. Many of my friends and coworkers have had hip and knee replacements that continued to run for exercise. You are right - DIET is the crucial element to focus on when it comes to healthful living. I now only "exercise" (walking and disc golf) for the fresh air and sunshine, and to properly stimulate my lymphatic system (for waste removal.)     There was a young wealthy family man who would run for hrs daily where I used to live, everyone knew his family. He dropped dead at 40 on one of those runs from a heart attack 🤯

    Wow, this is really interesting... I would've never knew this is the guy, never even heard of him. But I remember many decades ago, when running became such a big thing, and then yet we would "literally" hear about our 40 year old neighbor who suddenly had a heart attack, and yet "nobody knew why". Yet all he ever did was jog every day, and was constantly on-the-go in life. It's amazing how many people STILL refuse to accept how bad running / jogging is. Also, I don't know how to explain it, but I find that Women's legs who jog, end up looking very strangely "weathered" with bad skin and the knees end up looking too "knobby" after a while of them doing it, they lose the sleek and feminine texture, to speak nothing about their torso and other features.

Germany had experienced one of the largest ethnic cleansings but which had taken quietly and has largely become disregarded by most, in modern times. Some new information and interest has come out in recent years, but is is largely a taboo subject. There are some Prussian descendants in the US and parts of Canada, but most are in the Midwest States.

    This is why i like the dr ray peat. He spoke on the fact that our pulse should never be super low but rather up in the 80s and 90s. But most doctors will tell you thats too high. He also spoke on excercising and how ot is too stressful on the body.

    Historically, humans needed to run down prey, but doing so at high speeds would have created noise and potentially alerted the prey, making it easier to evade us. Therefore, our ancestors mostly walked or jogged at a slow pace, which aligns more with our natural capabilities. Additionally, running at high speeds would have caused them to become tired quickly and dehydrated faster, further diminishing their hunting efficiency.

    I took up running about once a week a few years back. Started out just doing random 5ks where the proceeds went to a good cause and eventually ended up with a group that would run on the weekends. I never looked forward to the running, it was more the socializing. But these people were probably the least healthy skinny people I knew. Cramming down carbs and those glycogen packs like candy, and afterward everyone was looking for the beer.
    And funny in the video he mentioned running on hills being healthy. One of the reasons I stopped going is because I ran straight up a hill and had problems with my right hip flexor ever since. It's better now, but if for some reason I decide to exert myself it can act up again.

    16:20 lol I love it when you comment on the facial expressions, its crazy cause I never thought about this until first hearing you comment on it. It's very interesting, because I've also seen people with massive smiles running, but when I try to recall WHERE I've seen such scenes I remember that the people running where almost always running for a reason (i dont mean training for a marathon or losing weight, I mean a reason in the present. So running away or to something)
    For an example I have childhood memories of running around with my friends, all of us laughing, but we weren't running for the sake of running, we were running as a result of the games we were playing. I think one of the core reasons for the facial expression found on ''exercise'' folk is the lack of purpose. Literally exercising, for the sake of exercise, that feels bleak asf.
    I'll add this, sometimes the ''purpose'' can just be an abundance of energy. I remember feeling like a ball of energy when I was a kid and being drawn to physical activity, but this type of physical activity is very different than any kind of ''discipline exercise', there are no schedules or plans or anything. Pure flow and joy, very different experience.

    The best exercise is walking. There's a reason pro golfers outlive general population by several years. Non strenuous, outside all the time in nature, lots of walking.
    One of my exes mothers used to run all the half marathons for charity and by age 50 she had to switch to riding a bike because her joints were knackered.

    My grandfather- great man and I love him very much. But he was also one of the first people to follow the running trend, and he also was a body builder (old school, nothing like body builders now) and sadly he passed away at an early age too- 54 I think? From a heart attack. He also was a smoker so im sure that didnt help :/ wish he was still around.

      Yes, it was after the battle of Marathon in Grece, thats why the name for the olimpics. it was around 40-42 km from the battle back to Athens to deliver the news of the victory. and Died at the spot...

    Running is far worse than lifting in my opinion, you're pushing your heart way more, you're running on hard terrain in shoes that change how you move so you really wear your joints

    I never understand the enjoyment, satisfaction and addiction people experienced when running. I'd rather walk, dance, talk or eat than run. My husband always say: Runners are dead runners. Why run if you don't have to? Why fight if you can hide? Why jump over something if you can simply pass by?

      It's better because at least you use your own body weight whereas in the gym you try to adapt to lifting much heavier weights, which is more stressful and has no use in everyday life.

    Running is okay .... for kids. Kids have the energy to run and play and expend energy. The older you get the less you should run (unless of course, for absolute emergency). I think the ability to run is total contingent on your body's ability to repair itself quickly. Kids bodies can repair itself very fast, adults ... not so much.

    If the body goes beyond a certain stress threshold im pretty sure it often creates insentive in the body to hold onto more fat for a number of reasons.
    Good on Jim for quitting smoking and trying what he thought was good, but ofcourse you dont need to be evil to do harm.
    I never read his book but after his attempt to turn his life around it sounds like he also cut down on meat and even started eating tofu, going by what i heard the comedian Bill Hicks say

    Both of his parents died of heart disease while young and he had a genetic predisposition to it. In addition, he was a heavy smoker and overweight before running. He may have died sooner if he hadn't started running. This video is pointless.

      That makes much more sense. Should have mentioned the family history, genes play a big role. Some people are not built for too extreme movement and the problem is they can't admit it, wanting to feel more capable by appearing "strong". My father was the most hardworking athlete in his group and a cycling champion and even if he abuses his health with smoking, drinking alcohol and eating a lot of sugary food, also was fed terribly by his coach, given bad medicine, he must have some good genes since after all this, even after a hangover, he has a lot of energy to get up to work 9-5 and ride a bicycle to work, sing at musical concerts and do other activities. Some of my family members from mother's side lived up to 100 years, lean, very VERY hardworking, endured a lot of stress and hardships. Genes are key. You either won the lottery or not.

    Why don't runners just do hikes instead? At least you get to experience nature. And you can get stronger without tearing up your joints and starving your body. The only reason I exercise is so that I can go backpacking without pain or stress.

      That’s what I realized after a time. I used to think I liked running, cause the only time I could get to pretty areas that were fairly remote was when I ran there.     just like in the case of 'vegan' / 'carnivore' or 'right wing' / 'left wing' or any other duality there is a over simplification ... not all exercise is unhealthy, although anything extreme is. but no exercise/movement would also be unhealthy as our muscles would atrophy and weaken. the real danger is polarization and extremism.

      We don't actually have any examples of humans or any animals for that matter losing their natural muscle mass when not exercising. It's fear mongering. Running is actually catabolic.
      Exercise and movement are also two completely different things. One is very stressful and the other is anti-stress.

    The other thing ... if young people (like young kids) have high heart rates, and if heart rate slows down as people age ..... then shouldnt you want to maintain a high heart rate as you get older (so you mimic the heart rate of youth? Because if toddlers have super high resting heart rates and seniors have super low heart rates .... then we should all want to RAISE our resting heart rate .... not lower it.

    What we know now also is that the body conserved energy. Studies have shown that when you do some intense cardio, the rest of the day you subconsciously move less. You even blink slower and stop twitching etc. When they compare groups of people just living normal lives without doing extreme cardio and those who do, they burn almost an equivalent amount of calories.

    From what I read before Fix took up running he was an over weight 2 pack a day smoker. So, he probably had the makings of a heart attack long before he took up running. Furthermore, I believe we as humans especially prehistoric, were designed to run for at least relatively short distances. I could imagine, when the time came, trying to hunt big, fast, dangerous animals took a great deal running ability...Espically without modern advanced weapons.

      Our bodies regenerate cell’s every 30 days. So this isn’t true. If he was healthy has he thought the smoking in past wouldn’t affect him. His running was over done amd took a toll on his heart.

      @@ngp150 Nobody knows for sure, but it's possible that years of heavy smoking and poor diet could have caused unstable plaques in his arteries. 1 out of 5 smoking related deaths are heart attacks. On the other hand, the chances of having a heart attack while running a marathon is maybe 1 in 57 thousand. So money is on the years of smoking and poor diet that ultimately caused his death

    I've been running three times in my life, last time was 4 years ago.
    I distinctly remember how unpleasant I felt. I was ill, I was fatigued, I spent the entire day feeling like shit afterwards. I decided at that point that running just wasn't for me so I stopped.
    The only exercise I ever get now is brisk walking, and my health is just fine.

      @@GoatisReviews Thanks for the reply. I've taken a quick look at the conclusions of the studies and they seem to only indicate that aerobic exercise is bad. I haven't seen anything indicating anearobic exercise is bad for you.
      One of the studies even indicates that "muscle-strengthening activities were inversely associated with the risk of all-cause mortality and major non-communicable diseases".

    Another part of the marketing of JF was that he was a MENSA member, and had a high IQ. It was implied that the smarter you were, the more running/exercise you should do. Also, it would make you smarter if you exercised more. None of which is true.

    I ran once and I hated it so much because it made my whole body sore. Since then, I havent run ever and would never do so coz it can be harmful to our bones.

    Dude, I never thought about this. A quick Google search showed me several runners having heart attacks and this was before COVID and the myocarditis issue these people are suffering.
