This dude played for NSW and the Roosters, two teams I can't stand. He is however a legend and I'm glad he was the captain of Australia. Not a grub, never had an off-field incident. Just a tough and consistent second-rower.

great lad that Boyd I hate roosters and qld as well but I can't hate any player in that Australian jersey mate. I'm glad we finally have some decent international competition like Tonga

@@garybaltiejus7248 you're hilarious so if there is a forward pass in a game is it the teams fault or the referees for not making the right call on the play? Further more when a call doesn't go your way like a penalty isn't your team's responsibility to defend? Come on mate you're better than this

Damn man, that’s probably one of the best interviews I’ve seen Matty do! Very emotional you can tell he’s happy with his choice, but he still didn’t want to go. A true warrior of the NRL respect cordner! I hope your future is as bright as your spirit!

Really raw and emotional interview. Great to see a strong leader speak so freely about what he has been through and where he is now. I am a Roosters tragic and was devastated when he retired but totally understand the decision he had to make for his own health.
Fantastic interview Matty and really appreciate the way you didn't cut in with more questions as Boyd was answering, you just let him speak.

Onya Boyd! 3/3 premierships for the mighty Chooks, you just couldn't ask for a better club stalwart. So many great memories of Boyd, perhaps my favourite was being in the crowd during Drongos v Roosters at Brisbane in 2014, where he dove over the line to score the match winner with about 2 mins on the clock. Legend indeed

  • @peterpiper7951

I don't think I've ever heard a bad word said about this guy, and watching this video it's not hard to see why. QLDers (I'm one) always spoke well of Boyd too, and they had a tremendous amount of respect for him as both player, person and captain. Hope his health is doing well, and in truth he made the right decision. It doesn't matter his career was cut short somewhat, he has one that most players dream of. Congratulations mate.

What an interview...Matty's funny side was a huge part of my attraction to the NRL...But this side of the game and Matty's compassion and understanding is what really draws me... most pro player's in whatever sport are extremely overpaid.....not these NRL boys....very much underpaid considering the risks 🇮🇪🇦🇺

In this era of players chasing the biggest pay check, it's so refreshing to see someone so passionate about his club.
