Jonas may not be holding the WR anymore for the highest level achieved in Tetris, but this video proves he's the greatest mind in Tetris in the world. To play at this speed, to maxout, while at the same time not just talking, but creating an entire fictional story on the fly, with jokes, creative twists, requires so much brain power it's an achievement absolutely off the charts. It doesn't matter Joseph (love him BTW) is the current world champ. Jonas can access so much resources from his brain, at the same time, all at once, at tremendous speed, that he's achieving far grander feats than just playing Tetris. His brain is capable of things normal humans can't even dream of. This video alone is beyond, much, much beyond Tetris championships. It's a display of massive brain power.

hey jonas, just an update here with the classic tetris community.. i noticed this myself hebo_MAI, who has a few Grandmaster world records, started streaming nestris like 5 days ago. i think its really strange how someone who has records in grandmaster can start playing NEStris and hardly get past the 100k mark in level 19.
Modern tetris plays differently but give him a chance and he will be competitive in nes tetris. The skills transfer between both versions but don't expect him to max out in 5 days.

Regardless of prodigy hypertappers, you got me into tetris again Jonas. I used to think tetris was just a brick game. How wrong I have been! I have a question although the answer may solely be a matter of experience. How can I reduce my dependency on long pieces? My stacks rarely stay healthy even when there aren't holes anywhere. I can't avoid putting pieces in places where another piece feels at home. As a result, more long pieces are required and I lose. Anyone can answer, doesn't have to be Jonas.
I'm very much still learning myself and know exactly what you mean, the key is to learn when to setup a tuck or even to suck up leaving a hole in your stack to keep the stack flat or higher on the left than the right with no more than a two block height difference between columns. I'm also starting to try and use pieces that would give me a piece dependency hole to fill to either burn a line or setup a delayed burn. About a third to a quarter of my top outs are caused by line piece dependency though, so I've still got a lot of work to do lol
How did you get the in-game stats? Is this the real NES cartridge? I have the cartridge and a Game Genie. I'd like to try that out if it's in the original game! Thanks.

Classic Tetris is pretty different than modern Tetris. Pure RNG pieces, no hard drops, stuff locks instantly. It requires a different play style.
