Silver looks perfect. Main problem of the space grey is it shows scratches. Silver doesn't show scratches vividly. Apart from that silver is the classic colour for Macbooks and Apple computers. Therefore keep the silver. All the best
I switched from space grey MacBook Air, to Silver MacBook Pro 13”, to Space Grey MacBook Pro 16. And I agree. Silver just looks way cleaner, gets lest finger prints and smudges. The only reason I went with space grey for the 16 is the Silver one at Best Buy was sold between me driving from my house to the store lol. Space grey doesn’t look bad though, just needs a little more maintenance. Tossed a case on it too cause I’d be extremely irritated if the outside got scratched
Do you not keep it in a sleeve? I've never actually owned a Macbook, but I've had a spacegrey iPad for the past year and it has no scratches at all. I keep it in a case when I leave the house with it.
GalaxyNexus1 I use a full case. Made by InCase. Like plastic hard shell. And to me I liked silver more overall, I prefer the contrast of the keys. But sometimes I do look at my space grey one and think it looks really cool lol. I seen a post somewhere where they said silver looks better on the 13” because it makes it look bigger and it’s more shiny. And on the 16” space grey looks better because it makes it look smaller and more muted. (Which it needs since it’s huge lol)

I always loved classic silver. And a year ago I bought MacBook Pro 2018 in silver. Timeless, clean, beautiful and more practical. I don't even understand why people obsessed with Space Grey.
People bought Space Grey to be different, but now it’s so over saturated that silver is different now. It’s a never ending cycle, both look great either way
I far prefer the look of the space gray one for myself. I agree with your thought that the silver one looks better in your apartment. Honesty, though, the colors are so similar, I'm not sure it really matters. It's not like one is red and one is green. I'm concerned about the fact that the benchmarks are so much better with your silver one. I'll have to do some research to find out if that's consistent. If so, I would definitely get the silver one. But I still like the look of the darker one best. I would love one that was pure black, actually.
Silver has two big advantages: 1) dust is much easier to see on the darker space gray, silver always looks cleaner, space gray is a dust magnet at least visually 2) keyboard is black on both and is therefore more contrasting to the silver body, makes the keys more discernible in dim light Had a space gray MBP for 1 year and then a silver one for 2 years, will go for silver again for the reasons above!
Silver has two big catches 1) dust is easier to see on the silver since its brighter, you make a mess and it looks very dirty so you have to clean the dust and the mestt constantly. 2) Space grey has a backlit keyboard but silver looks very old and ugly therefore it doesnt need a backlit keyboard
The silver is just way to bright, with sunlight or light from above, the body is brighter than the display.. So if your are focused on the content, not on the MacBook itself, the space gray is much better..

I'm the guy who has just spent the afternoon trying different LED fixtures in my office to try out different light temperatures. So I get why you might obsess over silver versus grey. Often for me these decisions come down to wanting a change of pace. A couple years ago I went from a silver to a rose gold model just for a change of pace. I do the same with my cell phones. I like colors, a I like changing them up now and then. Good luck on which to go with. I totally get how difficult it can be sometimes to choose.
Thanks for the comparison, I was just about to order the Silver, but I have to agree the space gray looks better when it's open. The color of the keys do clash, and the separation of trackpad looks a bit jarring and tacked on on the silver. In fact I'm typing this on a soon to be replaced MacBook pro Silver 15" and now that I've seen your video the smaller track pad on this one still looks a bit tacked on (though I never noticed it before). I will now order the space gray. Thanks again.
As i've had my Macbook Pro Silver for 8 years now, i'm drawn to the Space Grey cause it looks different. But if you've had a Space Grey before, go silver, mix it up! They both look great.

@@heyits_mc I have a Macbook mid-2012 right now and it has been awesome for about 7 years. The last couple years Ive had some issues but got a new battery and small things here and there. Just now the speakers have blown and even though I can fix them I think it's time for a new one. I can even still sell this laptop for $200 locally so that will go towards the 2020.

I used to have a silver MacBook Pro and now I have a space grey MacBook. the silver makes the laptop feels bigger? the space grey makes the laptop feels slicker and kind of smaller. I feel that I can concentrate better with space grey colour. I mean I find the silver super retro cool and clean and it now stands out in a sea of space grey you see outside. but genuinely, space grey is easier to use and works easier for me. its a hard choice man. to summarise I like silver for the look for space grey for the use.
the silver definitely integrates better into your apartment! however, if we were to look at them on their own, both look stunning! the silver is very classy and elegant while the space gray is sophisticated and modern
I personally like silver better but space grey isn’t bad but it just shows more scratches and scuffs easier than silver... same goes for fingerprints but besides that space grey looks great!
kinda late but for anyone currently looking to get a macbook pro, the space grey is miles more attractive but the silver stays intact far longer. stickers on the space grey version leave a mark that doesnt come off, where that isnt a problem on the silver model. plus general wear is a lot more noticable on the space grey model. if you want a durable macbook that'll look more intact in the long run, go for silver, but if you really want a modern and cleaner look, even if youre willing to deal with more scuffs, then definitely go for the space grey hope i helped :)

The silver looks amazing in the apartment. I love the space grey color and favor it over the lighter silver color. But the silver wins the color scheme and benchmark Test.
Surprised nobody has added how easy it is to see grime from your palms that build up over time on the space gray. I have the space gray 13" and have had it since 2018. Loved the space gray at first but now I enjoy how the screen and keys contrast with the silver. 16" i have on order is silver.

I think the only problem of the silver model is that there is so much difference betwwen the color of body and the color of trackpad . Such a issue does not appear on space grey .
i ordered the space gray, then switched to the silver. gray is nice, but everything is now is dark, my 10 year old laptop i am on now is dark, my old PC was dark, the computers at work are dark... that is why i switched. i also have an iMac coming soon. so they will match. The silver is a nice color and the dark keys give it a good contrast and will match with any surface, room, or table... Great video
honestly i think the space grey looks sleeker but there’s something about the silver that i like which i can’t quite put my finger on? i’m so torn between these two, i literally couldn’t care less about scratches or whatever because i’m always careful with my technology, so i guess for now it comes down to the aesthetic of the laptop

I have been using Silver since 2015 and I just ordered the new 16 inch silver color again few days ago. I think it looks much better than the overrated space gray. Thanks for the performance test part, it's very important as I use my mac for heavy coding tasks.

Was on the fence about the colour and honestly - in your apartment, the Silver one looks better. That said, I can't stop feeling that the Space Grey one is calling to me. It feels a bit more unique, like a dark horse of some sorts. Definitely still an eye catcher and like you said, the keyboard deck of the Silver one looks dated and not as sexy as the SG one to me.

omg! I’m torn with the same dilemma. I was thinking about getting a 2020 macbook air. I definitely love the rose gold, besides the fact that I love rose gold, it goes with my phone and things that I carry around BUT I want to be able to resell it in any case so I decided not to get it. Now I’m in between space gray and silver. I love both, I love that silver is a classic and scratches may not be able to be noticeable BUT I don’t like how the apple doesn’t light up anymore and it kind of is a plain silver. The space gray is stunning (my first choice was, actually, going to buy a Macbook pro on that color) BUT I kind of have a hard time deciding if its going to look good with my other things, of course I could just put some cute case on it. Anyway, I do want the color to at least look good with my things and to go with any kind of situation. As much as I like the rose gold, I think a more classic is better if I’m thinking to resell it. Also I want the fact that it’ll still look like a laptop not just another aesthetic accessory. Either if I choose the space gray or silver, I could be able to put a cute case BUT there comes my other dilemma, I am not quite sure how it will look like. I agree with the keyboard color..i chose the space grey coz it looks more uniformed with the black keys...had they changed the keyboard color on the silver to a lighter one i might have gotten the silver

I had the 2016 top of the line 15” in silver and sold it last week, ordered the new top of the line 16” in space grey. The space grey is pretty subtle anyway and I always regretted getting the silver. Part of the reason for upgrading was the keyboard but also I have to confess the colour was part of the decision!
Yep! Made the decision after a lot of consideration... the butterfly keyboard, throttling issues... I was so fed up having so much power and not being able to use it properly. As for the colour - if I was going for a 13” MBP I would go silver, but in the larger form factor the silver just always seemed a bit too bright. Comparing the two in the store the space grey just looks a little more subtle on the larger 16”. I did have to keep checking the space grey under the bright lights of the Apple store so for me it’s just a subtle change between the two.
This video did help me get started on the thought process. No doubt silver works better in your apartment with the lighter tones but honestly silver works anywhere. My home had a darker pallet And I like the space grey there but the real deciding factor was I had the silver for 7 years already. Looking at the same color laptop for 14 years seems really dull. You must be horrible in bed if you sign up for the SAME thing for that long hahaha. Decided to try something New with the space grey and LOVE it.
My 2020 MacBook Pro 13" space grey started fading around the palm rest. Tried searching various forums and found that the natural oils in the hand tends to "erode" and discolour the area around the palm rest. If you are buying, you might want to consider this fact.
I personally really liked how the silver looked compared to the space gray in store, and whilst watching this video and when you were showing the beauty shots, the silver just looks wayyyy better! I think I shall stick with buying silver, although this video is quite old i noticed haha, I am thinking of getting the M2 Pro 14in Silver over the M2 Pro Space Gray...
Update on this, I bought both the space grey and silver and the space grey looks so much nicer in person and therefore going with the space grey and actually going to get 16in instead of 14in as well.

Funny video. You "broke away from societal norms" in 2016/17 and got the silver. Even though silver has been the iconic color since forever. I'm typing on a 2012 right now! (Time to upgrade, which is why I'm here.) In your beauty shots, the silver struck me as being classic and less modern looking than the grey. On a basic level we all could agree that silver is objectively a more elegant and beautiful color than grey. After all, grey is derived from mixing black and white paint. The silver body and black keys are a high contrast design. While the grey model allows only the content on the screen to pop out, which would be great for watching movies or presenting a slideshow -- your eyes wouldn't be distracted by a contrasty silver body against a black keyboard. If you were to walk into a room, cafe, or library, the silver MacBook would pop out and the grey would be less conspicuous. The darker laptop would warm up more under the sun. In a low light room, perhaps your fingers would need a little extra effort to find the right key pads because they're almost the same color as the grey body. Like cars, dust stands out more on a dark paint job, especially with black cars. So, the grey Mac will quickly show dust. Have a soft rag handy! Lastly, the silver tells everyone it's a Mac. Do you want that? It could get stolen! Better that it looks like a Dell. :) There. I've laid out everything I could think of. Do as you wish!
I've always had silver and now I wanted to change and bought the macbook pro m2 pro space grey. Probably because I've been used to silver for so many years, but I like space gray much better. More professional and elegant
I have the silver 16" MacBook Pro. I also got silver when I purchased the, then new, 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar in 2016. Space Grey is nice, but I just think that the silver MacBooks look cleaner and it just feels like the classic colour, as that was the colour when the Aluminium MacBooks were first launched all of those years ago. Don't get me wrong, I also have a Space Grey 13" MacBook Pro, and love it, but definitely think you should keep the silver and send the Space Grey back.

I'm the guy who has just spent the afternoon trying different LED fixtures in my office to try out different light temperatures. So I get why you might obsess over silver versus grey. Often for me these decisions come down to wanting a change of pace. A couple years ago I went from a silver to a rose gold model just for a change of pace. I do the same with my cell phones. I like colors, a I like changing them up now and then. Good luck on which to go with. I totally get how difficult it can be sometimes to choose.
Thanks for the comparison, I was just about to order the Silver, but I have to agree the space gray looks better when it's open. The color of the keys do clash, and the separation of trackpad looks a bit jarring and tacked on on the silver. In fact I'm typing this on a soon to be replaced MacBook pro Silver 15" and now that I've seen your video the smaller track pad on this one still looks a bit tacked on (though I never noticed it before). I will now order the space gray. Thanks again.

Czar Anne yeah, A friend spilt coffee in it 5 years ago and it’s still working. It’s very sturdy. I’m thinking about upgrading now but it’s been a reliable computer.

@@heyits_mc I have a Macbook mid-2012 right now and it has been awesome for about 7 years. The last couple years Ive had some issues but got a new battery and small things here and there. Just now the speakers have blown and even though I can fix them I think it's time for a new one. I can even still sell this laptop for $200 locally so that will go towards the 2020.

I like the silver BECAUSE it looks older honestly. Reminds me of the good old days when MacBooks had 2 USB A ports, 2 thunderbolt ports, an SD card reader, a headphone jack and a full HDMI out

I’ve never owned a MacBook before I’ve just saved enough to buy my first one, I’m torn between the colours but think I’m going to go with silver as it’s the classic colour and everyone has space grey

I used to have a silver MacBook Pro and now I have a space grey MacBook. the silver makes the laptop feels bigger? the space grey makes the laptop feels slicker and kind of smaller. I feel that I can concentrate better with space grey colour. I mean I find the silver super retro cool and clean and it now stands out in a sea of space grey you see outside. but genuinely, space grey is easier to use and works easier for me. its a hard choice man. to summarise I like silver for the look for space grey for the use.

the silver definitely integrates better into your apartment! however, if we were to look at them on their own, both look stunning! the silver is very classy and elegant while the space gray is sophisticated and modern

I personally like silver better but space grey isn’t bad but it just shows more scratches and scuffs easier than silver... same goes for fingerprints but besides that space grey looks great!

i love how it looks with the silver, but on the space grey it doesn't match at all imo
kinda late but for anyone currently looking to get a macbook pro, the space grey is miles more attractive but the silver stays intact far longer. stickers on the space grey version leave a mark that doesnt come off, where that isnt a problem on the silver model. plus general wear is a lot more noticable on the space grey model. if you want a durable macbook that'll look more intact in the long run, go for silver, but if you really want a modern and cleaner look, even if youre willing to deal with more scuffs, then definitely go for the space grey

The silver looks amazing in the apartment. I love the space grey color and favor it over the lighter silver color. But the silver wins the color scheme and benchmark Test.
Surprised nobody has added how easy it is to see grime from your palms that build up over time on the space gray. I have the space gray 13" and have had it since 2018. Loved the space gray at first but now I enjoy how the screen and keys contrast with the silver. 16" i have on order is silver.

I think the only problem of the silver model is that there is so much difference betwwen the color of body and the color of trackpad . Such a issue does not appear on space grey .
i ordered the space gray, then switched to the silver.
gray is nice, but everything is now is dark, my 10 year old laptop i am on now is dark, my old PC was dark, the computers at work are dark... that is why i switched. i also have an iMac coming soon. so they will match. The silver is a nice color and the dark keys give it a good contrast and will match with any surface, room, or table...

For some reason space grey is kinda depressing to look at. Great in a phone, but I think silver is much better for a laptop.

I have been using Silver since 2015 and I just ordered the new 16 inch silver color again few days ago. I think it looks much better than the overrated space gray. Thanks for the performance test part, it's very important as I use my mac for heavy coding tasks.

Thanks a lot for the comparison - I am going to buy my very first own MacBook ever next month and it will be a 16" beastie. Was on the fence about the colour and honestly - in your apartment, the Silver one looks better. That said, I can't stop feeling that the Space Grey one is calling to me. It feels a bit more unique, like a dark horse of some sorts. Definitely still an eye catcher and like you said, the keyboard deck of the Silver one looks dated and not as sexy as the SG one to me.

omg! I’m torn with the same dilemma. I was thinking about getting a 2020 macbook air. I definitely love the rose gold, besides the fact that I love rose gold, it goes with my phone and things that I carry around BUT I want to be able to resell it in any case so I decided not to get it. Now I’m in between space gray and silver. I love both, I love that silver is a classic and scratches may not be able to be noticeable BUT I don’t like how the apple doesn’t light up anymore and it kind of is a plain silver. The space gray is stunning (my first choice was, actually, going to buy a Macbook pro on that color) BUT I kind of have a hard time deciding if its going to look good with my other things, of course I could just put some cute case on it. Anyway, I do want the color to at least look good with my things and to go with any kind of situation. As much as I like the rose gold, I think a more classic is better if I’m thinking to resell it. Also I want the fact that it’ll still look like a laptop not just another aesthetic accessory. Either if I choose the space gray or silver, I could be able to put a cute case BUT there comes my other dilemma, I am not quite sure how it will look like. I had the 2016 top of the line 15” in silver and sold it last week, ordered the new top of the line 16” in space grey. The space grey is pretty subtle anyway and I always regretted getting the silver. Part of the reason for upgrading was the keyboard but also I have to confess the colour was part of the decision!

Yep! Made the decision after a lot of consideration... the butterfly keyboard, throttling issues... I was so fed up having so much power and not being able to use it properly. As for the colour - if I was going for a 13” MBP I would go silver, but in the larger form factor the silver just always seemed a bit too bright. Comparing the two in the store the space grey just looks a little more subtle on the larger 16”. I did have to keep checking the space grey under the bright lights of the Apple store so for me it’s just a subtle change between the two.

This video did help me get started on the thought process. No doubt silver works better in your apartment with the lighter tones but honestly silver works anywhere. My home had a darker pallet And I like the space grey there but the real deciding factor was I had the silver for 7 years already. Looking at the same color laptop for 14 years seems really dull. You must be horrible in bed if you sign up for the SAME thing for that long hahaha. Decided to try something New with the space grey and LOVE it.
My 2020 MacBook Pro 13" space grey started fading around the palm rest. Tried searching various forums and found that the natural oils in the hand tends to "erode" and discolour the area around the palm rest. If you are buying, you might want to consider this fact.

Update on this, I bought both the space grey and silver and the space grey looks so much nicer in person and therefore going with the space grey and actually going to get 16in instead of 14in as well.

Funny video. You "broke away from societal norms" in 2016/17 and got the silver. Even though silver has been the iconic color since forever. I'm typing on a 2012 right now! (Time to upgrade, which is why I'm here.) In your beauty shots, the silver struck me as being classic and less modern looking than the grey. On a basic level we all could agree that silver is objectively a more elegant and beautiful color than grey. After all, grey is derived from mixing black and white paint.
The silver body and black keys are a high contrast design. While the grey model allows only the content on the screen to pop out, which would be great for watching movies or presenting a slideshow -- your eyes wouldn't be distracted by a contrasty silver body against a black keyboard. If you were to walk into a room, cafe, or library, the silver MacBook would pop out and the grey would be less conspicuous.
The darker laptop would warm up more under the sun.
In a low light room, perhaps your fingers would need a little extra effort to find the right key pads because they're almost the same color as the grey body.
Like cars, dust stands out more on a dark paint job, especially with black cars. So, the grey Mac will quickly show dust. Have a soft rag handy!
Lastly, the silver tells everyone it's a Mac. Do you want that? It could get stolen! Better that it looks like a Dell. :)

I've always had silver and now I wanted to change and bought the macbook pro m2 pro space grey. Probably because I've been used to silver for so many years, but I like space gray much better. More professional and elegant
I have the silver 16" MacBook Pro. I also got silver when I purchased the, then new, 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar in 2016. Space Grey is nice, but I just think that the silver MacBooks look cleaner and it just feels like the classic colour, as that was the colour when the Aluminium MacBooks were first launched all of those years ago. Don't get me wrong, I also have a Space Grey 13" MacBook Pro, and love it, but definitely think you should keep the silver and send the Space Grey back.
