    Big key is when u go out and practice stuff try and ride at least one day a week,if u don't ur muscles and your brain,the control center,will not remember what your practice d if it was too long ago,at least when you start out,try to practice before forget what u learned,I used to ride,when I was 15 years old I practiced on average 3 to 4 hours a day,when I got better ivstepped that up to 5 to 6 hours a day during school and when school was out 10 to 11 hours a day,hey most of y'all probably would be able to do that.I was lucky my Honda could take that much if I would have had race bike I would have needed factory support and 20 bikes back in the 1978,I did that for 15 months till I got a car.Have fun.one of the biggest things that helped me was a pro instructional video...they really helped after watching. It...I started looking at the way my friends ride and thinking dorks are so clueless...and so was I.

    No you got it good,I just listen to u and think of what I've done and learned,to add stuff to this but I like that drill,about braking and carrying moment without using the gas at all that really the trick,I see so many riders so hard on the rears and there moms second cousin sister husband the second one told them never to touch the front brake,he neglected to tell u once u get a little better u can start using it a little at a time,its important to have good even firm pressure on both hand grips while using the front brake and be ready to counter steer a slide keeping ur weight back is so true dirtbikes have a lot of suspension travel and u really have to exaggerate moving your weight back to over the rear because much weight goes forward on its own,being smooth on the brakes is the safestvthinh u can practice it takes time...I remember the first national I watched Binghamton N Y,BROOME TIOGA super fast down hills these guys were amazing seem less and I was so jealous of how good pros were on the brakes,I grew up and started on a four stroke,in 1978 ish,and a four stroke engine braking is like ABS in your car its such a good natural brake if u learn to brake as good as the downshift you will on your way,practice is key and patience a little at a time starting out on a flat piece of ground and learning how to get your bike to turn and then using the brakes at the same time is something that should be auto magic,so practice and repetition is key,timing is what u need to develope,when u are new your sense of timimg will be rough,so practice...I was lucky I got a old Honda four stroke and my parent had an acre and half and I was allowed to use half of it for my own motocross track it wasn't to fancy just a good 40 feet wide by 187 feet long oval that allowed me to almost get to 5 gear as I got better and I had a real good variety if six or so different size berms or turns that I made by riding that kept it changing so u don't get lazy sitting in the seat,one of the things I did early in my riding career was practicing flipping the track and turning the other direction to the right with ur foot up which really put pressure and makes u focus on balance,a lot of riders as fearful of this as using the front brake,what wimps...why would they put a front brake lever right there next to the throttle if it was important,hello MCFLY,keep your elbows up,just secret watch the pros when ever u can notice what they do different and try to notice their body's position in certain places and you will find it will help,start slow and learn to master the bikes controls before u think about going faster...it a gradule process,don't get hurt and ride for life.

    • @nestserau

      No, this technique is not used on dirt bikes. You usually down-shift on hard deceleration without using the clutch or in the air. So, it doesn't make any sense to blip the throttle.

    Hey one big safety tip I will suggest,if u are going out for you first time on a motocross one thing I will share with you for safety is two things to watch out for:number one is:it will be wet if u are out in the first session so be careful because it will be extra slippery if its your first practice ride.number 2:if there are a lot of riders and u have a soft track it will be really rough as the day gets later a ton of riders all brake in the same spot in every turn so be ready for level of roughness to increase and the bumps to be twice as big as the first session or bigger,so watch for really bad holes,and if its muddy try to stay in the rut or take a differentvline before u get to the bad holes. Because if your in deep ruts you are not going to get out easy before get to a hole u trying to avoid....God for bid your at one of those tracks that loves to over water the track,just be careful,one thing I learned very quickly racing on soft dirt,a real motocross track get way rougher than a trail or your woods track,because ofcthevnumber if riders and the skill of PROS tearing it up,fortunately I like it super rough,but it a surprise be ready for...dang ride a line on the track don't change line like a drunk driver,if u ride on the right side if the track and have a problem pull off the track to the right,don't go shooting across to the left,and especially don't change your line before a jump get away from the jump before or after it a ways before. U pull off,be aware of where u are on the track and remember there are fast riders coming up from behind u and they are expectant u to be in one spot when they come by so just take it slow and steady u are not the only one on the track....just mainly be aware if how rough it will get and get your body position ready for bumpy stuff stand. Get ur legs ready to soak up hard hits....don't slam the brakes on either steady gas,believe it or not learning to use the gas smooth out the rough stuff when u learn how...plus body position...another thing too is if your local track go-ahead and get a good set of racing tire s for that soil, a 990 for soft,752 for mixed,if its hard pack get two good front and rear s,that will make a big difference in controlling your bike,biggest tip don't ride your new tire on the pave ment u just wasted a 100 dollars,because u ruined your new soft terrain tire for use in the mud,that hadda hurt...piece out.

    • @waris6755
      @waris6755 5 лет назад +1

      Well... If you let it coast from high rpms without clutch its hurting the engine (not getting enough lubrication) i would just pull the clutch in because 2 strokes have almost zero engine braking compared to 4 strokes and you are not gonna stall it if you pull it in

    • @nestserau
      @nestserau 5 лет назад

      It depends on the turn. If you're going to brake slide, you need to pull the clutch in at the apex to not stall it. In other situations don't pull in the clutch, or pull it in half way, but keep controlling your brakes at all times, otherwise your bike will be riding you.

    I'm a shit dirt rider so I'm really curious about this. Why would you want to give up 10 feet of braking before the turn? Is trail braking not a thing on dirt? Seems like if you have 10 feet of coasting, you could gain time every corner by moving your brake marker closer and not using any time coasting.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 года назад

      10 feet is just a simple guideline but holds true in most corners. It takes a split second to cover 10 feet on a dirt bike, even when slowing down. In most cases, if you tried to brake later than this, you'll end up braking too far into the turn and not setting up properly. You want to have your braking done as you enter so you can focus on technique and carry momentum through. - Chase

      @@Strasky_96 It's actually the fastest way. Look at Ken Roczen or any other fast guy with good style out there, they always control their brakes till the apex. It gives you way more traction and control, because applying a little bit of brake settles down the suspension and allows you to make your radius smaller / wider at an instant which is crucial for taking over. What is explained in the video is a mid-pack C rider style. Good riders transition smoothly from braking into acceleration with nothing in between. And it's especially important on a 2 stroke due to little engine braking.

    maybe it should be mentioned for 2stroke noobies that its dangerous to engine brake a 2 stroke.

      k&w video's wrong. Engine braking a two stroke is not dangerous. It’s even been tested that in fact, it does not cause the engine to seize. There is still gas and oil coming through the engine when you don’t give it gas so the cylinder is still getting plenty of lubrication keeping it from getting too hot and seizing up.

    Take your brakes off your bike. You don't need them
