Dave Grohl is a guitarist where you can sense how he’s also a great drummer. Great sense of rhythm.

Yeah I’ve seen a video where Dave actually sees when he goes through the song writing/riff making process of making music he looks at the guitar like a drum instrument.. top string/low notes as a snare/bass drum and he looks at the bottom string/high notes as cymbals …

This is the best FF song. Dave Grohl has said that if a show is lackluster either in terms of band energy or crowd energy, when they play this song it cures all.

I feel like the foo fighters are a fairly underrated band. People seem to know them and like them but fail to be.included in there favorite bands. Even I have but there is no denying they are a great group that has almost always put out really good music

I feel the exact same way about them. They do have fans that love them though. They've been about for a long time as well.

Not remotely under-rated. Lol! Maybe opposite? And I’m saying that as someone who really enjoys them and their music. There are many numerous other hard rock bands that deserve the same attention, but are ignored by the media.
Very good band though, and I’m happy to see a guy like Dave Grohl lead the charge trying to bring the gospel of rock music to the masses!

@@Gazza100786 @Gary Campbell I'm not saying they don't have fans that don't absolutely love them. What I was getting at more or less is if you ask someone "whose your top 5 favorite bands" you rarely hear the foo fighters or at least to the people I've talked to that's been the trend. They are a great band, that makes great music, and have heard there concerts are phenomenal.

@@RB-oc7ti Part of my perception on this may come from the fact I don't get on much media. No Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, or whatever others are out there. RUclips is the only one.

The problem with Foo Fighters is that they’re a hits band. Wasting Light might be the only record they have that’s solid front to back. They have great singles on almost every single record they’ve ever made, but their deep cuts just aren’t really that good

They are an outstanding live act, as you can glean from this clip. If/when you see them, you can pretty much count on high intensity and passion throughout the entire show. Lucky enough to see them here in the Philly area in the summer of 2015 & Grohl had just broken his leg at a show in Sweden; so they designed a FF 'throne' for him to sit in during the show lol. He rocked out harder in that thing that just about any other frontman I've ever seen live. Fortunately, they've decided just recently that they'll continue as a band despite their recent devastating loss

Glad you used the live version that I rec'd. As live performances go, this was the absolute closest match to the studio album version that I've ever seen. And yes, the album version has that same energy.
Energy -- These guys are an OUTSTANDING live band! The now late drummer, Taylor Hawkins, pushed them into putting on a REAL SHOW by building set lists that allowed them to use different transitions between songs. Sometimes with some killer riffing or solos in between and other times a clean crossover.
The syncopation -- when I listen to the album, the syncopated start always throws my timing off until a few bars into the vocals. Even though I know the song, it still happens.
You should watch this song performed at Wembley in 2008. The sound and energy somehow managed to fill the entire bowl of that massive place. 80k people in there, including a 20k mosh pit! IT'S NUTS!

Oh a side note: I highly recommend Dave Grohl's book "The Storyteller", especially the audiobook version that he narrates himself. It's not a true autobiography, but more random stories from his POV over the years. Fun stuff.

I haven't listened to this song in years but I remember listening to it all the time as a kid. That intro with the almost rapping vocals and the ending repeating that but adding the scream vocals has always been my favorite part, and the most recognizable part to me, of All My Life. As usual David, I appreciate your honesty and authenticity about whether you know the song or not. I always know that you are not going to give us a reaction/analysis with a bunch of BS.

If there’s one song of theirs that gets play at sports arenas between plays, it’s this one. The Milwaukee Brewers play the “done, done, on to the next one” part after each put in the 9th inning when they’re winning.

That was when I became a fan. Didn't care too much for the radio stuff up until that point. Then, just an absolutely powerful show, and I loved it. The radio songs sounded better than I could ever appreciate before. The sheer live talent stole the thunder of the whole festival.

Loved the backing vocals! Just kidding. In all honesty, I bought the Foo Fighters' first album, the Dave Grohl solo-garage-studio album, the day it came out. I said back then, upon first listen, that this "band" would be bigger than Nirvana. That it was the drummer of Nirvana was absolutely mind-blowing. Still a big fan nearly 30 years later, though their last few albums haven't been as good as some older ones, imho.

Anyone that tried to say Dave is a shitty guitarist I challenge to post a video of them just playing that intro while "singing" those lyrics in time. Vocals don't have to sound good just keep that rhythm on one chord.
