one of my favorite features in this game for burning aura, is that if you give someone burning aura and they are already standing it when their turn starts, that they can move with that aura, its been good for manipulation to use a weakling 4 spaces away to let jeanne or giles get it, and move straigt to the boss to deal excess damage.
Such a great game i remember getting this as a kid. Grinding is life my friend especially in tactical games can’t wait for FFT remake or some of the older NIS stuff.
I played the game without grinding and got my butt handed to me quicker than I expected. Between that and not knowing about binding skills until after I sold my excess skills, I ended up restarting. Now I’m back to where I started and only use gold I’ve earned to buy new equipment and therefore was force to grind to acquire gold level up at the same time and it’s been a much better experience.
The affinities can become very strong later. I could be misremembering from the PSP, but I want to say if something has affinity and you have none, it has advantage over you rather than being neutral. So knowing what enemy affinities are on a map and changing yours head of time can really help out.
I still have the UMD. I should get a used PSP and finally beat the final boss. I was in between "don't grind" and my current "I love grinding" phases and never beat it.
Im struggling getting past an early stage where not a single character can die. The last, strong guy always goes for one of my weaker guys and smashes him/her to the ground. Ugh. (the stage at 3:08 in your video lol). I'm gonna try some more ranged attacks next time. It is however my favorite 'new' game. ;)

This game set the stage for a great sequel. I really hope that this port leads to that because Gilles de Rais, after the war, becomes the first recorded and worst serial killers in history along with his friend... *cough* cough* Roger. Historians are actually split on Gilles trial. Some believe he pleaded guilty to save Roger... his "friend" whom was initially implicated of the act. Others say he was fully guilty. A sequel could follow this story and make Gilles the villain, and since they went with the "Someone died in Jeanne's place" which is also debated, we can have a return of Jeanne. Further, after Gilles desth, France adopted, for a time, a ritual involving whipping their children because thry beleived that gilles being burned and hung was not enough repentance for the evil he committed. It was also to scare children into good behavior so as not to end up like Gilles.
I mean, the ending is... well it's full of false hope for the exact reasons you're saying. And frankly, I don't think that following through on that particular story would be very fulfilling. On the other hand, if Lv5 wanted to do a spiritual sequel, I'd be so down for it. I'm not sure exactly what the inspiration would be, but there's plenty of people who had mysterious or conspiracy laden deaths who might be a great place to start!
I made the MASSIVE mistake of not buying enough healing items for the final stage 😭😭😭!!!! I didnt know it was the final stage & that there was layers & levels to it and I was on the STRUGGLE BUS, especially since I didnt bother using rufus/la hire/rodger that much in the game so they never had any weapons & their levels were really low so they were just monster bait in the final 🤣😂
I saved game on tough (free) battle. Might be under leveled (dragon fight) and Jeanne left party. When I die it loads rights before battle, from homescreen the same thing happens. Anyway to return to map?
@@TitaniumLegman rarely if think, it's all about patience, which people don't have. With some effort this game can be finished grind free; the battle system is rock/paper/scissors and you can assign whatever one you want to each character and switch it up when needed. You can scout maps to see what enemies are before battles as well. Other tips are good tho
This has been one of my favorite RPGs since it came out on PSP. Im so happy to see it now on PS5.

The most unfortunate is that this game didn't get any sequel to it. I find the game play and story is quite interesting back in the days.

What I truly hope is they’re kinda testing the waters as far as following this title up.. Level 5 really has the formula down

No you remembered it correct. Best to use no affinity at the start to most map. Affinity is best to use verse bosses map.

Grinding actually is very fun in this game when messing around with character builds
Holy this used to be my favourite game in psp. I wonder if they add any new stuff cuz I already 100% my psp version.
From what I'm hearing it's pretty much a straight port with some graphics tweaks for HD screens.

Credibility lost after tip 1. If anything, that should be tip 8 or not on the list altogether.
You would be amazed how often people need to be reminded that grinding is sometimes not just okay, but needed.

No, the game isn't hard, and some units like Rufus, Collete and Marcel are OP
The game will get only pretty hard near end of the game as I remembered but by then you should be quite familiar with the game.
Not too hard but I've found myself having to grind a bit very early on because the enemies have quite a lot of health compared to the party members.
