Great comparison. I think I'll be going with Prime Ark Freedom... thornless, two crops, and you say they're nice and sweet. Very helpful. God bless you.
Hello from Arizona zone 9b! we will be planting 18 different varieties of blackberries including freedom and traveler this fall! thank you for this information, we appreciate the tips!
I grow both and I picked a 1 3/4" inch Prime Ark Freedom in my picking this morning, September 5th. The plants are still blooming and covered with green berries. My Triple Crowns finished bearing over a month ago. They had a very productive season. I planted 4 varieties of thornless berries for a long harvest season. Chester comes in first very early, then Osage takes over until the Triple Crown ripens, and lastly Prime Ark Freedom.
I grow triplecrown here in zone 5 indiana but our winters kill my canes often even when they are covered looking for a variety I can still get berries off of the same year they produce the canes , looking like prime ark freedom is a great choice thanks for sharing
Thanks for your comment!! Next year I’m going to get some of the Ponca variety. I’m waiting to make jelly, and maybe some wine. Thanks for watching our videos!!!
Growing the Prime Ark in full morning sun here in Metro Phx & did great in the first yr, tolerating the sun just fine. But it does mostly get afternoon shade
Try another wonderful blackberry Ponca. Another creation of the Arkansas berry program , supposedly the ultimate blackberry for taste. We are so lucky to have these improved berries.
Love your channel. I just ordered 10 prime ark freedom and 5 ponca blackberry. Do you prune back all the Prime ark freedom in the fall winter or just the floricanes?
I’m sorry I haven’t responded to your question. I’m still learning how to do these domesticated blackberries. But if I understand correctly, the canes will die after the second year, do that’s the time I plan on doing a big pruning of my plants. Now if you can understand when the canes have produced their last berries, you could prune them at that time. I’m nowhere near knowledgeable about these blackberries to be able to share with you how to make that decision. Thanks for watching our videos and your comments.
I have 4 varieties including prime ark freedom and triple crown. No other varieties beat triple crown with disease and pest resistance. I think it has to do with their leaves being thicker and more hairy. It’s a late variety. Prime ark freedom ripens early.
I planted 3 triple crown bare roots 20 years ago. I have only had one for the past many years. Mt black raspberries are the ones that are invasive in my yard. 😢

What a useful video! Thank you very much. I bought 6 Prime Ark Freedom from Nourse Farms. They are now growing in my Southern California garden.

How many bushes for 2 people.
good job mate, well done, good info !
Did you ship your canes in or did you buy local? I’m in Boise too. I have triple crown but thinking maybe I should add primeark freedom
Would love to know the answer to this too
Question: Are patentable berries healthy? Or do you like alien foods?
Yay I found them at Edwards nursery in Boise!
thanks
Share can I buy the prime ark freedoms berries ? Thanks jim80
Do you have any additional comparison/preference by now? Which is more disease resistant? Are they equally hardy?

@@shake_shells11 I got triple crown in the meantime, thanks though.
Thank you!!!
Are they invasive? Do they spread by runners?
