This trip is particularly exciting as it takes place during the development of the Mumbai-Goa Expressway, a massive infrastructure project designed to enhance connectivity and travel convenience. The expressway will span 471 km and is set to connect various key locations, including Panvel, Pen, and Margao, while boosting property prices in the area by 10-15%
The route runs from Panvel to Pen, Mangaon, Mahad, Poladpur, Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Lanja, Rajapur, Kankavli, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Panaji, Canacona, and Margao. The highway, running parallel to the Western Ghats, continues to the country's southern coastal districts, connecting other important states such as Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu until terminating at Kanyakumari.
Originally proposed in 2016, the expressway is designed to mirror the stunning coastal routes of California and is expected to be completed by December 2024. We highlight its route that traverses through charming towns and lush landscapes, running parallel to the majestic Western Ghats, and connecting major southern states including Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

Just for everyone who is planning for Pune to Goa. I recently drove to GOA from Pune and came back. (24th Dec'24 to 2nd Jan'25.)
Timing is the Key while choosing the Nipani - Amboli Ghat or Karad-Anushkura Ghat route.
If you are leaving Pune around 4am to 6am. Then without any doubt go via Kolhapur- Nipani- Amboli Ghat. only 2-3 places you will find 5 minutes congestion due to Road work. Straight roads till Amboli, so if you have Kids or Elderly people then they will enjoy the drive as there are few Ghat roads..
If you are choosing any time later to leave from Pune then Anushkura ghat is the only option as the Kolhapur to Nipani will have many diversions due to road works which will cause 1 hr delay.
On your return from GOA, always choose Karad - Anushkura Ghat road. As the Nipani to Kolhapur road has a lot of construction work which get started after 9am..

To avoid high toll rate of mumbai - pune express highway, you should take old mumbai pune road upto khalapur, which is also in very good condition.

I will be travelling from Mumbao to Goa in couple of days. Is NH66 preferred over pune Kolhapur route? Have always taken that route and never tried NH 66 hence apprehensive.
Hello, brother. This time, I recommend taking NH66 instead of NH48. NH66 is the better option due to ongoing construction and diversions on NH48.

If you are planning to stay overnight just 3 to 4 hrs before Goa, I would recommend Rajapur, Kankavli or even Kharepatan.
I would highly recommend to stay near Rajapur because the road from Rajapur to Goa is SUPERB 👌👌👌❤️❤️
Other well known places to consider - Sangameshwar, Sawarde, Devrukh…

The road is almost 85 to 90% done. And there are small bad patches but overall the NH66 highway is best and you will easily reach goa in 10 or 11 hours (panvel to goa)

Hello brother. We took NH-66 so no Amboli ghat. Amboli ghat you will encounter when you take Kolhapur Nipani Route.
There was one big ghat named as Kashedi ghat but that was bypassed using Kashedi Tunnel.
There were small small ghats like Bhoste ghat etc on the route ❤️❤️❤️😄

We first took Mumbai Pune Expressway till Khopoli. Then took Khopoli Pali road and merged at NH66. Then we took NH-66 (Mumbai - Goa Highway) for the entire remaining trip 😃😃😃

There are multiple good places on the way like Rajapur, Chiplun, Khed, Sangameshwar.
If you are planning a stay near beach then check Devgad or Dapoli etc.
Coming back from goato mumbai from this nh 66 a 50km road is not good so take an exit towards karad and then from there go towards pune expressway. Thats the best way. Otherwise you will regret

To visit Ganpatipule, take NH-66. The road is superb and also there are CNG stops too. Even though I have petrol car, i observed multiple cng stops on the way.
One tip - Start your journey early in the morning .

Hello brother. Sure. The mileage that was shown in car's MID was ~17KMPL
(It includes ideal condition too during puncture repair, tyre inflating break etc)
Hi nice video. I used nh48 and via Amboli ghat for Goa. The ghat patch is very narrow and evening time it’s very risky I found. How about the ghat section roads in video I don’t see much ghat roads . Is this mostly ghat free or tunnel including roads ? Also is this the Mumbai Goa express way being under construction ?

There was one dangerous ghat named as Kashedi Ghat. But now, due the Kashedi Tunnel (shown in video) bypasses it.
There are small small ghats like Bhoste ghat etc but mostly the road to goa is now flat.
About construction work, there are very few patches but overall the quality is superb 👌

Mere hisab se traffic nahi milna chahiye because Diwali pe log apne hi ghar mein rehna pasand karte hai especially Kokani log.
Kokan ki taraf Ganpati Bappa aur dusre festivals mein jyada traffic milega. Diwali mein traffic ke chances bahut kamm hai.❤️❤️❤️
Phir bhi I would recommend you to start your journey early in the morning.

Hello brother. You might need to take NH-48 first and then NH-66 from Panvel. There are few CNG stops which I observed from Panvel to Goa on NH-66 highway.

Hello brother. It is safe to travel at anytime as our Maharashtra is safe. Especially Kokan is super safe.

Yes it is safe to travel but in my opinion Anuskura is not for beginner drivers. Roads are narrow and very frequent turns. If you are pro then go for Anuskura else go with Amba Ghat or Via Nipaani aajra road via Amboli Ghat

Hello bhava. Sedan car tar best ch ahe. NH-66 Mumbai to Goa madhe sedan ch best. Jeh pan rough patches ahet teh normal ahet. No big pothole or speed breaker. Not an issue for any car. Anyday I would prefer sedans over SUVs.
Where ever u see grass grown on divider so drive on left side don't drive at right as suddenly animal like dog or cow jumps or run from divider and give suprise ... my native is kamkvali i've xuv 700 i cover 490 kms from kanvali to mumbai andheri just 6.5 hrs by 130 to 140 km including 1 break that too samgeshwar drive thru hotel then nonstop ... makan hai road till lanja to kankavali in 1 hr 10 mins and mubai

Currently the best and fastest route is via NH66 from Mumbai to reach Goa.
The second route is via NH48 via Kolhapur Nipanni but the issue is NH48 is under construction and there are lots of diversions causing traffic jams

Hello recently on 21st dec I went through NH66 from Mumbai to goa by my car the road here is only 60% good rest 40% is bad 20% diversions as this highway is under construction & rest 20% is totally bad road.. I suggest not to take this route it took me almost 12 hours to reach goa same condition while coming back from goa to mumbai... Isse acha via pune se jana hai..

@@metabolichealthcoach Absolutely! Automatic cars are super convenient and make driving a breeze. If you can, definitely go for a proper automatic, like a Torque Converter or DCT/DSG/CVT. They offer a smoother experience. If you're on a tight budget, then AMT can be a decent option. 😃
I drove my Alto 800 for five years and totally understand the appeal-especially with heavy traffic. When I decided to switch to an automatic, it was mostly because the waiting time for the manual variant of the Suzuki Brezza LXI was so long! 🙏
I really do recommend going automatic, but I’ll be honest: I still miss the fun of driving my Alto 800. It had its charm! ❤
