I got to see Jeff and Isaacs planes together in the hangar when I flew with Jeff last year. They have a system of ramps that let the wings overlap slightly. So two Sonex in one 40 ft Tee hangar, with room to walk around both of them.
Sorry - Asked from my wrong account. What was the build cost and how do you think it flys anything you would compare it to? I have been thinking of selling my plane and picking up one of these.
Hi, I love how it flies. It is very light and responsive on the controls. There is a growing market of used Sonex where the original builder is done flying them and sells it. If you're up for it, I would recommend building it yourself though. You will become much more confident and familiar with the airframe that way and if you power it with a kit Aerovee, you'll build your engine as well. My kit was a series of purchases from other builders who had bought the components but didn't end up using them. If you get a new B model kit from the factory the airframe will run you 33k. Firewall forward is perhaps 13k, and instruments vary but if you want a basic glass panel I'd estimate 3 grand. It took me 4 years to build during high school but many others have completed it in 18 months. My only major complain would be the tailwheel training process. I was worried for the first 10 hours of my TW training that it would prove too difficult and stressful to enjoy flying. Now though, I have acquired good tailwheel proficiency and love to fly around or do touch and go landings or wheel landings. Very cool, I've been thinking about building a Sonerai II. Sonex has some really cool designs. Congrats!!
Congrats! That has to be one of the most euphoric feelings you could ever experience!
Nice job!!! Congratulations man!! Real nice build
Congrats Issac, very cool. My son Adam and I were discussing how we could fit another Sonex in the hangar if we got rid of a sailboat or two!
Sounds like a great idea! It was and is a really fun way to spend time with my dad

That is quite an accomplishment... You should be proud...
Congratulations! I keep going back and forth on the rent or buy decision and I'm interested in learning more about the Sonex.

I have been thinking of getting one of these. What was your total build cost are they stable, any major complaints?
Shebang! What a wonderful feeling. Yowzer! Nailed that landing. So proud of you.
Thank you! I'll upload the full raw video and you can see my later landings. This one was rough by comparison.
