An aerial photograph would have been helpful here, because the estate is in one of the best situations in Bel Air. It's basically on a raised "island" that sits alone above a sprawling golf & country club.
This would have to be my favourite mansion every. I just love art deco and art nouveau... You can easily tell it was built for a women. So many romantic, beautiful, lavish touches ...
Had no idea this place existed. Definitely worthy of your attentions, Ken. Absolute time capsule of 1930s top dollar taste, though it does end up resembling a very high class mortuary.
Most of the spectacular houses in Bel Air , Holmby Hills and Beverly Hills have been torn down and replaced by vile Persian palaces or ultra midern cold as ice concrete and glass houses. 87% of the homeowners voted in favor of a historic preservation zone but some people hired a Century City law firm and blocked it.
The furnishings come to auction now and then, they command high prices and are very much sought after. Every piece was custom and of the highest in materials and craftsmanship.
What a beautiful house! typical of that era, it reminds of the movie sets in films like "Easy Living" (1937) with Jean Arthur, screwball comedy about socioeconomics disparities during the great depression is available in RUclips for free.
Did she kill her husband? I have no idea. That's between her and God. It's a lovely house! Even though my mind can't even wrap itself around a 165mm home. Thank you for your videos, i enjoy them a great deal:)
Truly a fabulous home - those gorgeous interiors & furnishings! - but can't even fathom living as a single person (with some staff) in a vast 40,000 square foot mansion...kinda depressing to think about. I hope to learn more about Hilda Boldt.
Update: Hilda Boldt remarried, so was not single when she lived in this incredible house. She committed suicide in 1951 after selling the house to Conrad Hilton.
I liked the house, but it was quite over the top. Your description of how her husband passed reminds me of the movie “Black Widow”. Thanks, Ken for another fun episode!
This house was built in the 1930s and the background is as fascinating as the house. Talk about inflated prices! Shows how much the dollar has degraded in the past 50 years.
The "tastes" of the times in those days seems very pretentious to me. Some people might like neo-classical, but I prefer a Frank Lloyd Wright design or a Green and Green bungalow. I wonder if I can use it for filming was my first thought as a Hollywood location scout. It looks like something tRump would feel at home in..
The Zillo pictures are beautiful. Perhaps Conrad Hilton punished this women for possibly murdering her husband. Hope the house has a long beautiful future. 😊
Well unfortunately there is no explanation of the $165,000,000 title and the death of Mr. Bolt sounds questionable but from what is shown the mansion and estate are very beautiful. I guess her downfall was sort of inevitable.
Sudden heart attacks were normal in those days - pre angioplasty, pre bypass. No statins. Guy probably ate steak twice a week and smoked like a chimney. Beautiful house. My cousins lived in Beverly Glen back in our 50s/60s childhood. There's really almost no there there - almost all the pretty old houses destroyed for ugly nouveau riche garbage.
It's too bad that today all the newer houses in Bel Air look the same. Cookie cutter glass walls every for the view. Glass boxes with no ornament and flat roofs. You can't tell them apart.
It strikes me that many of the opulent houses featured don't make it any farther than one more generation... They had no family they had no children so she just ran down the finances and sold it off. Instead of focusing on others she thought building something to highlight her extravagance would ingrain her into Los Angeles society at the time. Even into the 1920s La was a bit of a rough and tumble western town. It didn't seem like she'd fit their no matter what kind of life she led. Personal I think she killed him.
Ive never said this , " I wouldn't change a thing about this house " it is (my spirt home ) , ok gonna save this and play it on loop ➿, everyone needs goals Thank you Ken 😊**walks off drooling over those curved couches, and OMG that staircase ,all the lil details
Stunning,Alot of Deco aubiance.Amd could have a Southern Impression.Kinda like Zsa Zsa Gabor house, but I like Zas Zsa better because I love Fench Rococo style.💐☕️🧁🥒😁👑🐩💅✍️👠👛💍🎻
This house is so early 20th century. The interiors remind me of the lavish film sets from early 1930's films.
Some of the interiors are full-fledged Regency Deco. A favorite of Hollywood set decorators when evoking the ultimate in luxurious living.
its a miracle it survived and wasnt torn down and rebuilt thanks to Hilton for preserving it
I think this house is exquisite. Can you imagine the windows being open to the (then) fragrant warm California breezes? I love it.
You're EXACTLY right! I could live in it today, just as it was built. Drop dead GORGEOUS.
This house might be the most beautiful I've seen on your site. Very happy it still stands.
An aerial photograph would have been helpful here, because the estate is in one of the best situations in Bel Air. It's basically on a raised "island" that sits alone above a sprawling golf & country club.
Wonder if google earth would help a bit.
The pride of craftsmanship shows, it's amazing how some people can waste away so much money so fast.... Great watch.............
A very interesting estate. The interior details and furnishings were exquisite.
Another great episode ❤🎉😊
Reminds me of cruise ships of that era , and still looks timeless
A lot of art deco was used at that time as well as on ships
Love this house! Unfortunately, it's a tad over my budget. 😊
This would have to be my favourite mansion every. I just love art deco and art nouveau... You can easily tell it was built for a women. So many romantic, beautiful, lavish touches ...

What an incredible house. Glad it still stands.
Beautiful, and an architectural style that we don’t see much of.
Another fine job! Thanks so much!!
T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings was a fabulous designer who wrote books on furniture, art, and architecture. He did a great job on this place.
I would have loved to see Jean-Michel Frank’s or Andre Arbus’s vision for the place.
What a stunning beautiful, yet comfortable house! Inside and out one of my favourite ones yet!
Love this house!

At least Greenacres is still preserved, so far, that is.
Absolutely stunning!
Beautiful!
Always fun to see what you find.
Thank you for all your hard work. Thank you to your work force as well.
Very elegant decor.
A happy ending for the house!

I think this is my most fave so far (interiors--- WOW!!!!!).
Did she kill her husband? I have no idea. That's between her and God. It's a lovely house! Even though my mind can't even wrap itself around a 165mm home. Thank you for your videos, i enjoy them a great deal:)

I could be a fresh prince in that Bel Air shack
I liked the house, but it was quite over the top. Your description of how her husband passed reminds me of the movie “Black Widow”. Thanks, Ken for another fun episode!
Love it
Amazing
The all white music room is beautiful
That is some serious post Gilded Age extravagance.
Luxury beyond belief.
This house was owned by Baron Hilton up until about 2020 when it was sold by his son.Rick hilton realty for sixty five million.
I think the padded walls in the master bedroom are very creepy, and the entire room reminds me of a giant coffin. 🤷♀️
Padded bedroom walls were popular during the Art Deco period. There is style today, too.
My favorite room is the library
Gorgeous…but silly to build a house so large it bankrupts one.
Kind of a mysterious conclusion. I'll have to look her up.
Was that house in movies? It looks similar to the house in the Big Lebowski!!😅
beautiful mansion to have tours like Hearst Castle but, very high maintenace .
She was very good at design. I really like this house. I wouldn’t change anything about it. If I had 165,000,000 I would buy it.
The Hilton's stole it from her in the 50's.
Can't even imagine having to clean all that.

fairfield mansion video plz
I wonder why it hasn’t sold!
It's a teeny bit Hearst Castle.
I want to see the basement
so now i have to google to find out whatever happened to the lady of the house. nice vid tho, interesting backstory of the property indeed.
Other than one or two rooms I would never use 90% of the house if I lived there.
Was he related to Tupper Ware?
Sealed her fate... how?
I think this house is exquisite, a very interesting estate!!!!
Such a beautiful grand house. Too bad she couldn't keep it.
40,000 sq foot- yikes. I would need the promise of a nearby window or some such thing to escape in case of a fire.
She didn’t grow her fortune, she wasted it.
A spiritual treadmill is much, much, more healthy than a worldly treadmill.
Isn't Casa Encantada the "official" name of the Hearst Castle or maybe I'm thinking of some other famous mansion?
More details needed on why she was suspect.
$2 million? So the pool cost $24.00 ?

I actually prefer the look of their Cincinnati home, large but not imposing. WKRZ in Cincinnati 😂🤣
A house with one's life of selfish indulgence
God is Awesome
More architecturally interesting historic homes in the Beverly Hills region than this one.
It's too bad that today all the newer houses in Bel Air look the same. Cookie cutter glass walls every for the view. Glass boxes with no ornament and flat roofs. You can't tell them apart.
my money is on ‘Hilda did it’… too much low-hanging fruit to ignore, i would imagine.
Too bad it’s now owned by the Hiltons. Ugh

…her life so empty so sad! Could have helped others during those depressed years and then she might have truly been rich!
Zelenskiy will buy it
🤣🤣🤣
Far too big for me! But a nice design.
Women and money!!!
Too small lol ver understated good for a start up home, haha, She managed to get 20 years there, Like the devil and Daniel Webster ahahaha
Beverly hillbillies
My house is better, it has a television.
Ive never said this , " I wouldn't change a thing about this house " it is (my spirt home ) , ok gonna save this and play it on loop ➿, everyone needs goals Thank you Ken 😊**walks off drooling over those curved couches, and OMG that staircase ,all the lil details
I'm officially obsessed - i will have it one day soon. Fantastique ✨️🇺🇲✨️- *[ for the record - I think she did the husband in ]...🪷🪷
