In the last trailer people were theorizing that Homura replaced Kyubey and it’s now her giving out magical girl contracts (literal deal with the Devil now). So following that theory people are now theorizing that the shot with the salamander in this trailer is of a contract being formed. Also the headband that Homura is wearing in many of the trailers shots matches with one of her Clara Dolls, so might have to keep an eye on that.
The green-haired girl's hairstyle is similar to a girl in the concept movie who had a cage-like costume similar to the witch (a pair of legs in a cage) who very briefly appeared in the anime. Given that Nagisa took up time in a couple of scenes in Rebellion, I hope they won't dwell on the two extra side characters too much when we already have Mami, a sidelined character with lots of potential
And now that I think about it the bear girl from the end of the original show was also in the concept trailer, maybe they reworked her design to the girl we see next to Nagisa.
Post watching the trailer I went to the Madoka reddit and saw someone put out a theory of who the new girls are. The person compared them to a similar situation to Nagisa being former series witches who are appearing due to Homucifer's actions. Personally I think it could be cool if they are the cause against her trying to get Madokami back to her position.
With the extra Homura’s in the trailers (assuming they might be Walpurgisnacht or the Clara Dolls) but I think that we may be getting different versions of the Holy Quintet as well It seems like Kyoko is wearing 2 different outfits in both of these trailers that differ from her original outfit. I wonder why that is and how it ties into the word Homura created. Hoping we get some connections to the Concept Movie what what they where planning with “golden hero mami”
I'm definitely sold on green hair being Quitterie from Portable If this girl is doing mending with the teacup, and is Quitterie (Needle Witch) maybe she is mending the Clara Dolls (who I think is the reason there are multiple Homura copies). Great observations as always, can't wait to see the film.
My read on the shot of 29:00 is that this statue in the centre of the shot is representing Homucifer and the telephone wires within the statue reflect how homura is trying to contain the truth of all of the other timelines (homucifer's connection with communication in promo material thus far), but she is doing it very poorly, she's tired and can't keep up the charade, hence why it's made of glass. This is reinforced with the last shot of the first trailer where homura sits on a tower of books (protecting the truth from the others) and she is portrayed as exhausted. So interested to see how this will play out!
29:50 the coils look almost like vintage telephone wires which tie in with the 'lizard phone' on the earlier trailer and poster I think! Also a thing I noticed is that the new girls also have black collars like Homucifer- it's hard to see with the twintail girl but it's there! I wonder if there's going to be an in-universe explanation to it (like, the school allowing for that specific deviation in the attire)... regardless seeing the OG Quintet (even the 'other' Homura) having white collars, I have to wonder if the black ones are a visual metaphor for magical girls in league with Homucifer or at least associated with her somehow???
The girl with the green hair has a ring in her middle finger. In the part where Homura is dancing with Madoka, she has a similar ring in the same finger.
The appearance stuff was so weird i dont think homura would ever care about her looks in that way its so out of the ordinary it seems more like she wants to know if she is real yk since there is a second homura or maybe even more thats seems more plausible to me
27:00 I'm going to save this frame somewhere to look at it later - with statue and the epoxy incased books: while books weren’t prevelant in the series, stories definitely were. I'm reading the whole shot as a callback/refrain (the poetic term) to kyouko's 'let me tell you a story' to Sayaka. makes me think Sayaka will have to come to terms with herself, and no matter the conclusion she'll remove the bandages after this arc. Also the coils as you call them look like Homura's feathers from earlier in the trailer
I was thinking in something more like the "Puella Magi Diarium" from magiarecord game, like maybe those books are the records that the LoC has from the Puella Magi (and their witches from)from other universes or timelines. Also there is a Book Of witches that is seen in one scene with the names Of witches from Even magia record
lots of interesting stuff going on in this trailer as well! few observations: Tarot symbolisms! the books are all in black and gold, and so are the witch / minion cards. that colour combination is also there in some other scenes of the trailer. of course, the original trailer also had that moon tarot, so i'm hoping it becomes a more continued theme. this seems to be a very vertical film? there is a lot of going up and falling down in this trailer, and even the previous one. maybe i'm tunnel visioning here. anyway, there is at least some parallelism between madoka and homura's falls in the previous trailer and this one. while madoka falls from bright light into a dark storm, homura falls from a dark storm (the eye of walpurgisnacht perhaps? the colours do match) into light. the fan(s). the AC one is pretty obvious, but there are also fans in the first shot of the trailer. while the fans (which remind me a bit of pinwheel fans, i don't remember if they were used as a symbol in rebellion) in the opening shot spin counterclockwise, the AC fans spin clockwise. also reminds me of windmills, which were used as a symbol in both the original series and rebellion. the pastries in the background while mami is eating are arranged like lamps and candles. don't think it means anything but it's cute. the scene of homucifer falling seems to be from a fight. there's bits of concrete and brass (gold?) flying over the screen. the ribbons are also reminiscent of her fight/s with mami (i rewatched the rebellion trailer and it reminded me of this) the spiral staircase reminds is something i have definitely seen before. i thought at first that it was mirroring the first scene of the series, but apparently that doesn't have a spiral staircase. the closest thing i can remember is Utena, which has both a spiral staircase and an encaged elevator. it's also a bit troubling that we're ascending this staircase and the ending leads to nowhere. the green hair girl seems to be taking her ring off. not sure what to interpret from that though. while the coffee table mirrors the coffee table in the drosselmeyer sequence with kyoko, it also mirrors homura at the end of rebellion (perhaps even better that because of the flooding near the chairs). it also mirrors the scene that we're looking at in the very next frame! the camera is on a chair next to green-hair-musume, with stuff on a coffee table. sounds like someone's first date nightmare. the purse also has seashells (i thought they were butterflies?) and vine ropes on it? i heard some speculation that the girl is gertrude, given the garden symbology, but it doesn't make /that/ much sense. also the teaware. white, blue, and gold is the colour scheme of walpurgisnacht (in fact we see a cup of that same set later in the part of the trailer where the arm is stabbed) another nice detail about that shot. the lens flare seems to be breaking through the fences. might be a bit ham-fisted but something about light being corelated with divinity. the second half of the trailer i have surprisingly little to say about. but the ending seems to be a straightforward lucifer allusion. white feathers rising up to the heavens, and a singular white feather descends and turns black. looking forward to seeing what the quarter will pull off. i'm ready to be disappointed because i've got my hopes too high, but they've had a lot of time and Urobuchi is always one to surprise.
I can't wait to see this movie. I hope it does great, it should be just as good if not maybe better than Rebellion. I also hope we get more information about the movie soon.
So, Firstly, when Homucifer is falling the outside looks like when Walpurgisnacht shows up is the anime. Dark, gray and cloudy. Secondly, her eyes are purple in the anime, just like her soul gem. Now, her eyes are red and blue?
Also, I think that's Homura hurting herself with that blade. She's a known cutter and tried to commit suicide. It could be that she believes she deserves it.
Wait red and blue eyes in separate scenes? Are the ribbons or headbands different in the scenes as well? That would mean there really are multiple Homuras for whatever reason, possibly like how the Law of Cycles was split. I wasn’t sure for awhile if it was meant to be literal or metaphorical, but honestly it just might be both. Gosh I’m so excited for this film. Also sidenote but I feel like its not a coincidence for the color choices of the new magical girls introduced to be green and orange, because those were the missing colors in the main cast. Maybe it isn’t relevant, but with them we have a full rainbow with a couple additional colors. Its going to be great seeing people nitpick and figure out things about this movie after it comes out for possible years, just like when Rebellion released.
@@hallowedchromee310 Yeah, in the trailer when she's dancing with Madoka her eyes are red, when she is looking in the mirror her eyes are blue but, in the anime her eyes are purple so maybe there are multiple Homuras.
I think the rerelease of the movies could be to generate funds to finish the production of Walpurgisnacht Rising. Most likely, it will be aired Christmas 2025 to give time to finish production once the extra cash comes in from the ticket sales of the previous movies.
Something very interesting you don't seem to have noticed is that both the orange haired girl and the green haired girl have that black collar on their outfits. Given Homura is the only other character to wear that, I'd say they are tied to her in some way. Maybe they're Clara Dolls, but also they both have a magical girl ring so another possibility is that they were normal magical girls that were saved by Madoka and then dragged back to Earth with her. After that, they might have decided that Homura's system is better for them than Madoka's. Though that doesn't explain Kyubey. So many questions...
I believe that Sayaka is going to go through a similar journey as Homura in Rebellion. Sayaka still knows that something isn’t right with Homura and that she’s a demon. I believe that Sayaka is going to try and figure out more about Homura and the world, but Homura will be trying to actively stop her and that could be a cause to why her face is bandaged up (kinda like she’s trying to silence her.) With Nagisa I think she’ll be super important in this movie. I have a theory that she still retains her memories because in rebellion Sayaka still had her memories when the world was reset but the other girls didn’t. Homura erased her memories after she shared her thoughts but we never see her do the same to Nagisa, and it can be assumed that she also remembers since they were both Madoka’s angels. The food shots could also be interesting. In rebellion after the world was reset the girls seemed have their memories reset but still have a vague sense that something was off, maybe Homura is like feeding them all these treats, showing them balloons, ball pits, and other fantastical things to kind of distract them and keep them in this fantasy mindset. Kyoko was eating a treat but she also seemed to be kind of bored, maybe the illusion is wearing off her and she’s starting to see past all the tricks and gimmicks Homura is using to distract them. The new girls I believe are different witches from the show as girls. I don’t think they’ll play too big of a role in the movie but I think that Homura might use Kyubey as kind of a puppet and talk through him (kinda like a phone) to make contracts with new girls so they can battle the Wraiths. Homura also probably has multiple split personalities in this movie, and the different personalities are fighting Homucifer for control because maybe some of them feel like what she’s doing is wrong (probably her inner guilt personified by different personalities she’s trying to keep down). Also that shot of Homucifer falling looks like she was kicked out of some kind of structure, maybe the birdcage we see her in. That shot could be taking place in her head and the other personalities overpowers her and some of them could take over for a bit. (Side note the feathers we see could be a reference to swan lake. In the concept trailer we see Madoka performing it so maybe that’s another thing that remained in the final film. Also we see alot of Nutcracker references in Rebellion so this could be the ballet they chose for this movie, and also could tie into the themes of Good vs. Evil because Homura claims she’s an existence known as evil and Madoka is obviously good.)
The Rebellion re-release (or re-screening as they called it) isn't something new. They have done this several times during the range of the 4th movie announcements (circa 2021-now).
