The Steam release for this game is surprisingly more forgiving than the original version that was part of Windows' best of entertainment pack. For those who haven't played it back in the 90s/early 00s, there was no skip option! Each level had a 4-letter passcode for the player to write them down as they discovered new levels in case their save data was lost. If a player was absolutely stumped on a level and failed an x number of times, a popup would appear, offering the player the option to skip to the next level. Besides that rare option to skip, this game has no hand-holding and would be downright brutal on a good number of levels (so much so that there are even Steam acheivements for completing specific levels). It would rip away several minutes of your time because you pressed up instead of left by accident and pushed that block into a wall that you needed to beat the level, too bad restart from the beginning hahaha -_- Nowadays it's incredibly easier to 100% the game on the Steam version because there's no passcode system anymore, and we have wikis, gameplay, and map screenshots for reference. I'm so nostalgic about this game because I played it as a kid who went wild over the mysteries of the final levels locked behind an impossible difficulty for me at the time. No other puzzle game since felt the same, and I don't think a new game with the same unfair design philosophies would bode well with casual players unfortunately. On Steam I recently beat my last level (145 - Force Field) and can finally walk away. I'm free!! Screw force field, screw city block, screw pain, screw all the headache levels... But I'll never forget the patience this game taught me. It's a right of passage honestly
Your comment described my feelings when playing this game so well. Hahaha. In some time-consuming levels despite there are no enemies wandering around, the thing I'm most afraid of is pressing wrong button, so-called suicide action, especially like 033 ON THE ROCKS or 081 WRITER'S BLOCK 134 PAIN. And if you notice in the video, I sometime seemed to be idle. That was some moment I took to take some mental-rest. LOL
Good to know you love it. I love to show how I were playing the game. But to be honest, I don't want to play this game anymore. Playing for 033 ON THE ROCKS or 134 PAIN only once in the life is more than enough. LOL
Wasn't it such a cool feeling to be sitting at your personal computer with a nice set of speakers and monitor, diving into the world of a simple game like this? It felt like a real transport to another world.
20 years ago, around the same period for me too. I just remember that back then this was a damn very hard game. With the catchy song, and very terrifying Teeth monster. LOL
some part of me remembers this game from my childhood. it was so long ago but i remember very distinctive things & this just unlocked memories of other games i used to play on PC. wow. crazy how wikipedia led me to this game. ah!
@@THSticky yeah, I understood the functions and rules of the game, It's easy to understand but hard to beat, the computer also had the Windows 98 entertainment pack and also brick breaker.
I knew a guy who, on level 2, used to push the blocks down and cross the bottom of the pool. When I saw him do that, I was deeply uncomfortable in a way I couldn't explain. I just knew it wasn't quite right.
This game is extremely long thanks to the stages like "033 ON THE ROCKS", "081 WRITER'S BLOCK", "134 PAIN" I roughly took 2 months to complete all stages. Nice attempt but no more ever. LOL.
this is my childhood I played the hell out of this game i even remember how to turn on the ignore password cheat just hold down control and alt and type in qwerty
I used to play this game for hours upon hours. The elementary level was the one that stumped me. I believe it was during the summer of my 7th grade or 8th grade year which would have been about 1997 or 1998.

Actually "FORCE FIELD" is level 147, 145 is "Thanks to..."
Best computer game of the 90s. I miss this! Thank you for posting, it was fun showing my kids what I played as a kid!
Good to know you love it. I love to show how I were playing the game.
But to be honest, I don't want to play this game anymore.
Playing for 033 ON THE ROCKS or 134 PAIN only once in the life is more than enough. LOL
That iconic "bummer" gets me right in the feels, I miss playing this so much 😢 😭 💔
I love that sound too. Haha. You can get this game on Steam.
Wasn't it such a cool feeling to be sitting at your personal computer with a nice set of speakers and monitor, diving into the world of a simple game like this? It felt like a real transport to another world.
This is nuts, it has to be 20 years or more since I played this and watching this seems like yesterday. 😭
20 years ago, around the same period for me too.
I just remember that back then this was a damn very hard game.
With the catchy song, and very terrifying Teeth monster. LOL
Wow I never knew you could finish lvl 18 that way. I've been doing it the hard way all along!
I once have been creating the bridge and destroying the bombs also. LOL
This is the steam version, and the level on the thumbnail is called “STEAM”
Oh gosh, it really is! It wasn't intentional. LOL
Meta lol. Game doesn't look like much but it is interesting to hear the nostalgia stories
some part of me remembers this game from my childhood. it was so long ago but i remember very distinctive things & this just unlocked memories of other games i used to play on PC. wow. crazy how wikipedia led me to this game. ah!
It's been a while. I hope my muscle memory still memorize it.
At least, I'm sure you remember this catchy game bgm. LOL
I love the sound he made when you kept trying to walk into a wall or into something that had him blocked
Yeah. That bumping sound.
I love to create rhythm with it. :)
My mom's boss gifted her a Compaq Presario back in 1999, I used to play this game in it at the age of 4. It was fun tryng to pass the whole game.
You really started playing this game so very early. I played this game when I was 7.
@@THSticky yeah, I understood the functions and rules of the game, It's easy to understand but hard to beat, the computer also had the Windows 98 entertainment pack and also brick breaker.
The puzzle difficulty from level 8 to 9 jumped insanely high, haha.
Yeah. The game levels are not well balanced.
Luckily, we can skip the level anytime. LOL
I knew a guy who, on level 2, used to push the blocks down and cross the bottom of the pool. When I saw him do that, I was deeply uncomfortable in a way I couldn't explain. I just knew it wasn't quite right.
The bottom of the pool? How did he play that way? I want to see that. LOL
Wow didn't realize how long this game was lol. I could only get to level 21 hahahaha.
This game is extremely long thanks to the stages like "033 ON THE ROCKS", "081 WRITER'S BLOCK", "134 PAIN"
I roughly took 2 months to complete all stages. Nice attempt but no more ever. LOL.
@@THSticky I actually can believe that it took you 2 months to complete the whole game. Lol
this is my childhood I played the hell out of this game i even remember how to turn on the ignore password cheat just hold down control and alt and type in qwerty
Oh... I never heard of that cheat before.
All I know is killing yourself enough will sometimes let you skip the current level. LOL
Try it
I don’t think I ever got passed level 10 as a kid, this game was hard af!!
When I played as a kid, I messed it a lot.
Then the game provided me an option to skip to the next level.
That's the only one mercy the game has. LOL
This game could be actually made into a horror movie.
Ah, right... I remember when I played the game as a kid. It was surely frightening.
I used to play this game for hours upon hours. The elementary level was the one that stumped me. I believe it was during the summer of my 7th grade or 8th grade year which would have been about 1997 or 1998.
Oh... 1997 ~ 1998. Back then, I was just 2 year old. LOL
Wait this is on steam???
Yes! Both for Chip's Challenge 1 and 2!
Peter? Remember how dad said we should start with the school reports first?
Excuse me. Can you tell me who is Peter?
That's true
0:48 🥴
I really want to feel the nostalgic again, is there any way to play it in windows 10?
Sure! I got this game via Steam, both for CC1 and CC2.
@@THSticky thank you
I always got stuck at lvl 7 as a kid
Es posible jugarlo hoy en día? Alguien tiene link de descarga?
This game is available on Steam.
From where should I download this
It's available on Steam.
There is also a bundle with CC2.
@@THSticky what would be average cost I haven't purchased anything from steam is it safe
@@n_acquaintance I just rechecked the price. It seems that CC1 in Steam is now FREE. LOL.
And of course, it's safe. You can trust it.
@@THSticky thanks bro✌️
I wanna play this game again...
Sure. The games are available on Steam for both CC1 and CC2.
@@THSticky thanks😊
How do I override a save on the switch. I can't figure it out
Sorry, I don't really understand the question.
But talking the save, the game automatically saves the progress as you play.
What's the name of the song? I just want to know the name of the song they will be playing in hell for eternity
Oh... Good question. But sorry, I don't know the song name.
I really love this CATCHY song and want to know its name also.
Encontré uno en Steam pero no es el original. Cómo puedo jugar este?
I also got this one from Steam.
The game interface can be switched between old/new one.
@@THSticky Muchas gracias. Intentaré averiguar cómo cambiar de uno al otro.
You're welcome. Hope you can solve it.
does this support win 11?
Yes sure. I'm using win 11.
Peter.
Peter.
Peter.
Excuse me. Can you tell me who is Peter?
@@THSticky It's a reference to a RUclips Poop. ruclips.net/video/Y7WtkdLQ6PM/видео.html
Oh I see. Thanks a lot. :)
Why's lvl 20 called tossed salad
That's certainly strange... LOL
WTF? There was music in this game?
How have you been missing this catchy music.
I can't get this music out of my head. LOL
So hold on...lvl 20. You didnt need any chips cuz that sauare wasnt blocking the end?
Maybe the developer just forgot to place the door. LOL
@@THSticky I just got chips challenge on my switch curious to see if it's still that way
Please tell me too. I'm also curious. :)
I heard that there are lots of versions, but I don't know much the details.
They forgot to put a socket
Most stressful game of childhood
Same to me. But maybe this is why I wanted to play it again. LOL
1080p lol *adjusts glasses*
60fps 👍
Hahaha
lvl 9 - my tomb
That certainly is a big change, from the lesson stages. LOL
This game definitely doesn't favour lazyness
It took me around two months to complete the game. LOL
