A Tribe Called Quest are true legends in the game . Check out other songs from them like “Scenario” , “We Got That Jazz” , “Award Tour”. They got too many dope songs for me to name right now but those are just a few .
The song was partially used for the end credits of the Wayans brothers show I want to say back in the day? So you may have heard it on TV on the Wayne's brother show
J. Cole re-did it. One of the crazy things about this beat that not a lot of people pick up on is , it's a 3 bar loop. That's very unusual and difficult ro make sound smooth, but they pulled it off.
Damn the video went public, I was unaware of that since it was blocked when I uploaded it. Yea the track was Forbidden Fruit, I was blanking during the video. That’s crazy, thanks for sharing that fam
I mentioned in my other posts about the vocal exchange within verses that you love so much. Many Hiphop historians believe the original Hiphop groups like Treacherous 3, Furious 5, RunDMC, they were imitating Doo Wop groups from the late 60's. Some may say this is a stretch, but remember Hiphop started in the early 70's. When Hiphop started they were imitating Soul and funk bands in a bid to get respect. What fascinates me is that all black music is connected. Rap is a modern version of blues and spoken word. Black people left the African diaspora over 400 years ago, against their will I must add. Yet we still love the African drum beat. It's in our Essence. Which may go beyond DNA.
That’s really interesting that Hip Hop were imitating Soul and Funk bands. That’s very great observation as well, the African drum beat is for sure in our essences
Great Reaction Prs My Dude This Is One Of The Greatest Hip Hop Songs Ever The Music Critics Loved It When It Came Out In 93/94 In Fact The Whole Album Midnight Mauraders Is Considered One The Greatest Of All Time And Yes Prs J.Cole Used It For His Song Forbidden Fruit with Kendrick Lamar
Thank you fam! That’s very great accomplishment if it’s considered to be One Of The Greatest Albums Of All Time, I’m definitely going to have to get through it. Yes you’re right, that’s the song I recognized it from. I also remember hearing it from The Wayans Bros theme song too
When phife (RIP) made a reference BBD is 3 member from the group new edition r&b new jack swing hip hop. The initials of the last names ricky bell, michael bivins, ronnie devoe since you were wondering what that means. ATCQ was part of the native tongue movement. The sample comes from a song called mystic brew by Ronnie Foster great jazz fusion cut, young brother you doing a awesome job. A Tribe Called Quest one of the best hip-hop groups ever I am a new subscriber keep delving into the world of old school and hip hop
Atcq it's true hip hop they only say how good they are at rhyming and getting women they don't talk bad about anyone else except for how the good they are on the mic
@@PRSPR OK. I was wondering if that's where you was talking about. Yeah, I remember growing up watch The Wayans Brothers...and I kept hearing that intro, like That's Fire. Then a few years later, I heard the song by Tribe like Oh...thats where that came from. Lol 😆
Tribe is a part of much bigger crew, The Native Tongues=Jungle Brorhas A Tribe Called Quest, Dela Soul, Black Sheep, Queen Latifa, Brand Nubian Money Love, Chi Ali, Digital Underground( Tupacs first group). They were the best. Check them out to get the full picture
That’s a perfect way to explain this track, it’s hip to the hop 🔥🔥🔥 Thank you fam! I never heard of that group before, I definitely will do a reaction to that track fam. I appreciate you putting me on to so many gems, you pick artists and songs I never heard of before
@@PRSPR : Fa sho dawg. I'm a first generation Hip hopper...As a Hip Hop head I appreciate your journey and really enjoy your content. Being the thinking man you are I enjoy hearing your thoughts from your perspective. Very interesting..
Classic joint for sure. The chill vibe brought loads of female fans into Hiphop. That's why so many Hiphop fans consider Tribe pivotal to Hiphop. They are not the greatest lyricists, but they showed Hiphop could be a vibe and that vibe brought allot of fans to the music. Let's face it 80-85% of Hiphop and music fans are not into the lyrics, even back then. Most people like the beat, melody, groove and vibe of a song. Then after they hear a song play 20 times, they start to notice what is being said. ATCQ (A Tribe Called Quest) had loads of all four of those elements.
That makes a lot of sense why they were very pivotal to Hip Hop. Yea you’re definitely right about that, most people listen to music for the overall vibe rather than the lyrics. I can’t wait to check more of their music out. Thank you for breaking that down, that’s really dope
love to see you diggin this, man. highly recommend checking out their final album from 2016. after almost two decades they come back with the most relevant shit that came out that year. would be a good one for a full album react but also just the first 4 songs are total fire. their style aged like a fine wine, and for once with a comeback album it doesnt sound like a bunch of bitter washed up old guys who are too rich to have anything to rap about. age definitely bought them wisdom, and the kind of wisdom that doesn't require them to shit on the younger generations
crazy features too. andre3000, kendrick, ye, anderson paak, plenty of busta, talib kweli and even sir elton john hopped on a track and said the word "goons" lol - worth it for that alone
This shit was dope af no doubt! I totally see what you mean, that’s a very valid statement about age bringing one wisdom so it’ll be dope to see them put that in their music. Those features are crazy for sure, I got ya full album reaction to that. Idk exactly when but I added that to my list of music to react to 💯 That shit is funny af, Elton John saying goons is something I would never have imagined lol
The back and forth rap exchange that you are loving harks back to the origins of Hiphop. Group like Treacherous 3, Furious 5, Run DMC all used that interchange of voices within the same verse. ATCQ made a conscious effort to include that in their style. As an echo back to the origins or essence of Hiphop. Because ATCQ was not considered gangster or street, using the vocal interchange would make Hiphop heads take notice. Damn these dudes are really into Hiphop if they are updating rhyme styles from the 80's.
That’s dope how they implemented that into their style, I really enjoy the back and forth a lot. Makes sense how the listeners gravitated to them as well, thanks for pointing that out and explaining the origin of the back and forth rap exchange
If you like this type of jazzy type of chill beat, you may like Award Tour by them. I like Find A Way too. Thats 😎 But do that last after you did the others. Lol. Idk why ppl slept on Find A Way for. Maybe cause it was after the other big hits...and that was like their last 1 before they separated and started doing their own thing. Bonita Applebum is another good 1 too.
