When you are doing this, in Pro-Q3 make sure you change the zero latency down the bottom to linear phase and set it to high :D

Trying to wrap my head around why you used match for this. Match would analyze the instrumental and the vocal to get a curve that matches the instrumental spectrum to the vocal. If I were to do this I would just use the unmask feature and then manually create and duck the bands over the red flashes, which I believe is gonna give you a more accurate unmasking of the instrumental. Once again I'm not 100% sure that your technique with the match doesn't work, just saying I don't really get it since it's kind of doing something else when the goal is to just duck the masking frequencies. Creative video. I wish I could try it out for myself, but Ozone 7 match doesn't let you edit the match curve or make it dynamic for that matter. I guess I'm stuck with my technique

Yeah you can achieve the same with the masking as well. What I'm trying to do here is getting extremely surgical. When I use magic you it is telling me what part of the instrumental needs to be boosted to get it to sound exactly like the vocals. So pretty much anything that it's asking me to boost to get it to master vocals, you reduce that and you have a finer control over the frequencies to remove just those relevant parts

@@SoniqSounds but that's the problem. The frequencies necessary to boost in order to *match* the vocal and the frequencies that are *clashing* with the vocal are two very different things. If there's not enough 2k in the instrumental, for example, and if the match feature tells me to add 2k in order to get closer to the vocal, if I take 2k away from the instrumental, that doesn't mean I'm fixing frequency masking issues. It means that I'm cutting a wrong part of the frequency spectrum because there wasn't enough 2k to begin with

If you're looking for a fully automated unmasking process that is as surgical as you are trying to achieve, the only plugin that I know can do it is iZotope's neutron 4. I have never updated to this version so unfortunately I've never tried it myself but basically what it does is creates and ducks the bands based on the red flashes. It's one of the only eq features iZotope has that Fabfilter doesn't and from what I've heard it's pretty cool

Oh I forgot, another one is Waves trackspacer. Does the same thing
