completely unrelated. Twitter jacked up the API prices and has generally been going downhill as of late, this has nothing to do with general online server discontinuation, that comes several years after the successor.

I used this as an easy way to transfer screenshots from my switch to phone

I never used this feature. It’s probably the most useless feature on the switch.
I did for a while. Didn't have my gaming laptop yet so I watched streamers on the app on my Switch.
Probably because you haven't been using Twitter long enough to see how how many folks used thsi feature. I have seen a lot of people use it.

That AND the platform's API costs rising exponentially thanks to Elon's paranoia regarding bots on the platform (which is funny since bots have gotten significantly worse since he took over).

literally the only thing i used twitter for was to easily get my switch screenshots and videos without taking out the sd card. oh well.

Probably due to API costs I would imagine.
There are other ways to get it to Twitter from the Switch. Like you can (through Settings>Data Management>Manage Screenshots & Videos) send to computer via USB. Or send to phone from the album etc
Or just send the photos to your phone and post them from there

Beware of the limitations on captures.

• SD card: 1,000
If you run out of room, you can connect your Switch to the USB port and export all your captures. You can then choose to delete the following:
• Delete all videos/replays without deleting screenshots
• Delete all album data
And nothing of value was lost
Splatoon 2's plaza posts had some value. they gave the game life. sucks to see them going bye-bye.
Nintendo: We will disconnect the WiiU and the 3DS
Also Nintendo: You will send friend request from your WiiU and 3DS.

Its just a share option
You can upload screenshots from your Switch's album to social media. Only through the hidden browser.
Twitter’s not on the Switch, it just no longer supports sharing videos, and posts there.

I'll miss this function, it was the fastest way to share screenshots and videos from the switch, and I alwyas liked having a archive for them, the hashtags were also a nice way to check other people playing the same games

You can send them to your Mobile Device and then upload them from there.
Same, now you're telling me I have to remove my SD card, plug it in my laptop & manually send it to Twitter there?

This is Nintendo's chance to make their own social media for players to post and share pics and videos without paying other companies to use their APIs. It's time for the return or successor of Miiverse.

So how will splatoon plaza posts work now? I never use it because it requires a social media account to use an ingame feature.
Splat 3 will allow you to make plaza posts without an account while Splat 2's plaza post feature is being shut down entitely.
Who uses these things and who cares take a screen shot on your phone then send it where you like

there's a feature on the Switch that allows you to send them to your mobile devices. that's probably your best bet.
Send them to your phone and upload it from there.

My only concern is what will this mean for the Splatoon 3 drawings? I know Nintendo discontinued the necessity for a Twitter account for those a while ago, but what does this mean for those of us who connected a Twitter account before the requirement for one was removed?
It seems that Splatoon 2 drawing will be discontinued but Splatoon 3 drawings will be uploaded directly to Nintendo’s servers meaning you can post without needing a social media account

Wait, looking at how it's worded on the Support page, does this mean that plaza posts in Splatoon 2 are dead? They seem to have only created an alternative for Splatoon 3, no more posting in Splatoon 2? :( That kinda sucks, how hard would it be to give the same alternative to Splatoon 2?
Yup, posting on splatoon 2 dies. i think they'll just use employee messages for the walls and such, but otherwise, its basically dead once posting on twitter is shut down.

Nah, it's fine... you can still post stuff to Facebook, after all.
(Also, there's an option to send stuff wirelessly to your smart phone in the Album.
Connecting a usb cable to the Switch itself and a PC is another way to copy stuff too.
There's a section in the System Settings for moving/copying your Album around.)
Take out your SD card, add clips to your PC and edit with something like Movie Maker. Simple.
Thank God all Nintendo fans aren't this dense.

First PS5 got rid of Twitter sharing and now Nintendo. It was easy to share to Twitter.. now I gotta scan a QR code save then share to Twitter just more hoops to jump through.

But BlueSky is nice so far. They just recently added GIF's. Still does need DM's & videos. Hopefully they'll be added soon.

I literally found that out BEFORE they announced it! I tried posting a screenshot on twitter so I can save it to my phone and I got an error saying "Twitter is no longer supported to post screenshots" or something like that so I knew that the only option was facebook (and yet they cut the quality in half💀)
As of now it’s still supported though

You can send them to your phone or computer wirelessly or with a cable or using the micro sd card

Not all at once but you can send batches of up to ten images wirelessly to your phone
It makes sense, the twitter api costs are far too much per month for what it is. It's not worth spending so much for it

UGH! NO! There's still that game breaking glitch at Freedom Planet 2's Nalao Lake. I cannot be relieve until that bug has been removed in maybe the upcoming update from GalaxyTrail. I need that feature just to convince the Freedom Planet 2 creators to remove that bug.
A bit surprised this is supposed to be new information. For me the feature (that I used extensively) has been broken ever since twitter changed names. It's been a while, it stopped working as soon as the name changed to X (I always figured it was due to the adress changing, since this seemingly works with the built-in Switch browser)
A bit sad to see it officially announced, but at least where I live this is very old news.
I guess that's all the console companies not directly posting to X. Guess, if I wanted to post there I'd have to take one single step and use the direct transfer to mobile device option, built in. Even though I mainly use that function to post to Discord, not X.

Yeah! Splatoon 2 and 3 has already connected to Twitter and now Elon is ruining it with his high prices.

The Switch had Twitter support?
Kind of a shame since it was an easy way to share screenshots and replays of funny moments. I suspect it's because of the whole API thing that's been impacting so many things.
