Qantas has been flying non stop between London and other European cities and Perth using 787s. The flights are popular and apparently profitable. I wouldn’t do it, if I ever fly Perth to Europe I'll want two stopovers. I have to say though, this video sounds like a paid promo for Qantas and Airbus.
The A350-1000 that Qantas has ordered are ULR versions with a similar package to Singapore's A350-900ULR, this enables much further range than the standard version. Before ordering the aircraft Qantas put out a request to both Boeing and Airbus to see what either can offer to make the QF dream work Unfortunately Boeing could not provide a timeline at all for its 777-8 which was their option however Airbus came to the table with a 'we can do that' attitude. With the A350 for Qantas in early production but Boeing 777-8 nowhere to be seen, it appears Qantas made a very wise decision as it also came with a batch of A321xlr intended to replace the ageing 737-800 and a batch of A220-300 to replace even older 717, and Fokker F100. The A220 are already being delivered and the first A321getting close, it needs to be said that Boeing had no answers.
It flies 16, 000kms with 350 people. The Qantas A35K will carry about 250 - 280 people. That should make it less heavy and provide fuel for the extra 1000 km needed to reach London from Sydney with some fuel to spare. An empty(no passengers) A35K could probably travel 20, 000km. Singapore airlines does the same with the A359 between Changi and New York.
Who wants a 20 hour flight like honestly
This is really very very very old news
Nothing bold. The 777x doesn't exist.

This is corporate puff
Shame on you
So A350 1000 can fly 16,000 Km. How will it manage 17,000 London - Sydney?

@@mandandi The planned seat map will only have 238 seats on the Qantas aircraft
@@RonSchuurman-td7yj Yeah, that capacity will allow the Qantas A35K to reach London from anywhere in Aussie.
