I’m quite happy with this actually. There’s a hard demon called little thingy that I really liked and beat when it came out. I spent about 3K attempts on it. Little did I know, the level had a stupid secret way during a cool dash orb gimmick section. Now every time I tell someone I beat the level, they say I used the secret way, even though I have my attempt count to prove it was a legit completion. RobTop doing this prevents this from happening in the future.

As a person who finds and documents secret ways, it was very surprising that the elder mods suddenly decided to fix dozens of levels out of nowhere. It's very weird to see levels that have had secret ways for close to a decade just be gone now.
For close to a year now, I have been documenting all of the viable secret ways in the game in a spreadsheet with the help of other people. We had documented over 700 secret ways. There are still a lot left that still work currently, but we don't know if the elder moderators are going to patch more secret ways in the future.

I think this is good that those levels get updated, because its the intended from the creator (except if the level was verified with the secret way)
Tbh it’s probably a good thing, beating 10 secret way demons proves you have no skill, rather than going for an easier demon with actual gameplay.

Yeah, but I don't find secret way demons free at all, I currently have 9 demons and only one of them is a secret way demon, but now is that an illegit completion? Because that secret way demon was ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP(you already know what this level is without the ending of the name).
Isn't there that pop-up before uploading a level that basically says, "hey, if you upload this, robtop can do ANYTHING with it"?

"It's just their nature", is a pretty bad take imo. When the creator originally made the level before 2.2, the bugs weren't there because the level was intended by the creator to be perfectly playable. So if an update changes that, then it will still be the same level if it's fixed. Also, no one wants to stumble upon impossible levels, and the creators would definetly not want their levels to be unplayable.

Secret ways on rated online levels are fixed.
Secret way in Theory of everything is not fixed.
Secret way in Power Trip (Sub Zero) is not fixed.

Honestly it would be better in my opinion if the moderators were able to place something like a special trigger in the secret way that would just stop the Player from gaining stars and orbs with an information why they did not get them at the end screen, if they really had to fix them
imo its not that big of a deal its aight robtop doesn't know much about community so him doing this makes sense for him in his eyes "demons having secret ways? no way I'm getting rid of that!"

i actually did beat 20+ demon with secret ways, felt bad like a year later and then used the "uncomplete" hack on every single one of them. i think like 90% or more of these levels don't have a secret way anymore.
The versions levels were made in are in the database. Add a system to change the physics to the ones in that version

Controversial, but it's almost certainly what the creator would want, so I see little issue. Going further and trying to fix swag routes is a bit much, though. I guess the main issue I see is that this could open the door for mods to have a little too much presiding power over old levels, and we might lose some things that do indeed feel like the "nature" of a level in that they give the level a unique identity, even if it wasn't the intent. Indeed, the intent is to create a really good level, but levels like Generation Retro fail by a long shot ; they should stay that way. I don't think we should ever have mods doing too much of the creator's work for them.
It's just that if a level is rated, then it does make sense for it to not have a secret way that undermines the achievement - hopefully that's the limit of what we see mods doing to levels.
I can never find a skip in base after base and jumping at that spike that's not there like you show isn't possible. Any tips? Can't find anything on youtube. Is it frame perfect?

I beat Supercharge when it first came out and I spent 145 attempts on it and all my friends are accusing me of using the secret way and I didn’t know until after they told me so yeah I’m happy that they are fixing the secret ways
I am interested in going on the search if it means that 2.21 comes at a faster rate.
Secret ways on demon levels is kinda good.
And I say it because unlike some addicts like GDColon, I don't spent my entire life 24/7 staring at a screen trying to beat a demon level. I have a life, you know.

Imo robtop do good thing, just like you are right but robtop have more right becouse, why someone should use secret way? Its just like using noclip on rated levels.

The level “Abcdefghijklmnopqrs” had a secret way too (i was one of those people who used the secret way but dw i came and rebeat it to get my dignity back 😭)

secret ways should be removed since they are a literal cheat and it doesnt change the actual level at all

I beat ABCDEF like a year ago without any secret ways (i didn't even knew it), when I told someone that I beat it, they told me about the secret way and I had to take my attempt count.

i think it's great they did this because now people can't cheat in demons or regular levels by using a secret way, why beat it with a secret way anyway? just beat it legit. you earn 0% skill by beating it with a secret way, remember that people. ^^
