I was in London for the first time in 2022. I couldn’t find any trace of the BBC on my hotel tv, so I turned on ITV. Brings back memories of waking up late.
TVAM and GMTV were not mere morning programmes but television stations in their own right. They were independent of ITV and simulcast on the same frequencies as the ITV regional networks in the 6-9am slot, the licence to broadcast in that slot given by the UK govt. ITV had no say on the content or who ran the breakfast broadcasts. This changed from 2010-ish onwards as ITV has been trying to consolidate around a single network for the last 2 decades with buying up all the regional franchises (except STV in Scotland). GMTV was the last piece of the Channel 3 network still outside of ITV's control.
@17:58 There was an almost palpable sense of realisation on day one of ITV Daybreak that they had screwed up the set design. Putting the presenters in front of a big window with a view over the River Thames doesn't work in a country where it's dark 6-7AM half of the year.
I don't understand why they had a solo person until 6.30 from the 2020 era...made no sense, also the voice over guy they had from that year doing the date was horrid

I always thought they were just shows. I didn't know they were actually stations until about 6 or 7 years ago.
Lol they got very serious towards the end of the 90's.

ITV Is going to change to ITV1 Again alongside, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 & ITVBe, Why did they change this?
Reasons.
Because they can't settle on a name for their flagship channel. Don't be surprised if they drop the 1 again.
So 2 months ago, ITV became the good old ITV 1 again?
I don’t like the current one as much as the previous. They looks more elegant and transparent.
