Just had this grill delivered last week, cart arrived this week. You have amazing quick shipping. Never smoked before, little nervous but really excited!
Thanks for contacting us. The legs on the Trek are welded in place - they cannot be removed. GMG offers extension legs for the Trek to increase the height and they also offer a cart for the Trek. The Davy had little spring feet and the folding legs that doubled as the carrying handle. Any other questions just let us know. Thanks!
@@bookooc5605 Thanks for the message. The new design behind the adjustable heat shield allows you to make precision adjustments based on where you want the heat to be directed. For the most part I leave mine placed right in the middle, however if you were grilling something and found it would be beneficial to direct more heat to the right or the left, you can simply pull or push the rod to adjust the baffle which in turn will slightly redirect the fire. Any other questions please let us know! Thanks!!
Thanks for the message Richard. There is an upper rack shelf offered by GMG to fit in the interior of the Trek to create additional cooking space. For the exterior of the grill, there is not an add-on shelf, however the Trek Cart has a built in front shelf and side shelf. Has anyone thought about modifying the Davey Crockett deflector to have a threaded handle for adjustment? Drill a hole and a rod and nuts may do the trick.
Hey Jim, The Davy has welded protrusions in the base of the grill to hold the fire baffle in proper position. The Trek has more of track type design so that baffle can move. I've had Davy's forever and now the Trek for awhile. To be honest it's rare that I am adjusting that fire baffle. Any other questions let us know. Thanks!
@@EarthSense makes sense. I usually just put it all the way to the right. But I’ve never measure the temp on the left or right sides to see if it’s off at all. Maybe just more work for nothing.
@@jagoss45 Yeah I agree. I'll do some tests and make some adjustments as I go depending on what I'm cooking and at what temp, but my Davy's have been solid and I use them right along side the Trek. Any other questions let us know, thanks so much!
@@EarthSense Every time I remove the heat shield to clean the firepot I wish I had the Trek with adjustable shield. It's a PITA to remember where I need it, the marks on the Trek would be easier to remember. Plus if I want half the grill hotter I can adjust mid cook, impossible to do with a hot DC.
Thanks for the message. Yes we do offer the Trek and other GMG grills. Earth Sense is the company name, Pellethead.com is our website. Any other questions please let us know. Thanks!
Thanks for the message Paul. No pellet door for removal of fuel on the Trek here. 9lb hopper so pretty easy to remove pellets and add a different type of wood if desired. Any other questions please let us know. Thanks!
Davy is a great grill - I have two of them. One is 9 years old, the other is 3. I love them. We will always continue to carry parts, accessories and offer customer service for them. I just checked in with the parts team to see if we have any of these shirts available - We'll definitely follow up on that. Thanks again so much, we greatly value you as our customer.

@@watchluver Just sent a message to our grill techs on that. I will follow-up as soon as I hear from them. So glad our videos have been helpful! Appreciated.
@@watchluver Alright, tech reached back out and said that there is some calibration of the grill temperature allowed through the GMG app when connected to the grill. Take a look on the app and see where adjustments can be made. I personally find that it is good to periodically clean off the Thermal Sensor inside the grill. I just wipe it down and clean any soot or ash off of it with a terry cloth. Sometimes ash and soot build-up can prevent it from accurately reading interior grill temp. Let us know what you find, happy to help however we can. Thanks so much!
Yeah, grates are definitely thicker in the Trek. Depending on the generation of the DC there were different grates used, some were very thin bars and light. The newest grates offered by GMG are designed as replacement for both the DC and Trek and will be the thicker, more heavy duty grates. Part number on those is P-1014. I just inquired with inventory as our system shows two sets in stock, but the site listing shows Out of stock. I'll send you an update once I hear back just so you know.
