Really enjoy your documenting of the maintenance/repairs on the boat, even mentioning the more monotonous chores like cleaning. Really keeps things into perspective. Gotta pay to play. Looking forward to seeing how yall fared in the canal!
Thanks, Johnny! You know we were thinking of cutting alot of that out of this video as it is monotonous and not FUN! But the truth is 50% of our time is spent doing things like this! Glad you enjoyed it!
I've never seen the dinghy/ halyard launching technique. That's inventive for sure. Looked like a blast... And nothing like the threat of a caiman eating you to make it more exciting!
You guy’s are great, you both haven’t lost the excitement of adventure and discovering new places & that’s refreshing! Doing the research and sharing it with the rest of us too......Thanks for being real.
Thank you, Christi! We really appreciate this comment. Every day is a new adventure for us out here. We are always learning new things and we try to keep an open mind as we go! ♥️
What a laugh, just found out 'Toucan' sounds different in English UK, to that of American English. Hope you don't run into any Jaguars lol. Ahahahaha, great being launched into the river. Great time to get those chores done, but important to have breaks. Glad you got to see the monkeys. That's so cool putting your moniker on the wall. Love it :)
Documentation procrastination...the bain to my existence 😳!! Birdlife in that place is phenomenal and oh my word the launches are cooler than Space Ex's!!!! So fun!
Just discovered your channel. My wife and I are owners of hull #12, Emmanuel. We bought the boat just over 10 years ago and have been restoring her ever since. The boat was storm damaged in the Carribean, then brought back to Stuart, Florida where we purchased her. Like many others who bought sailboats needing repair, I was not expecting the amount of work I would end up doing. Just finished spray painting the deck with Alexseal 2 part, including Kiwi Grip for nonskid. Will give some more details later if your interested. Got to get work at my other job. Yours is absolutely the best setup Offshore 40 I've seen. Beautiful boat.
Awesome to hear from another owner! We would love to chat more with you, would you send us an email to sailingonelife@gmail.com ? We have a Facebook owners group as well that we'd love to have you join. Cheers!
I love the water, love boats, and have always wanted to live on a sailboat, but because of my weight it was no possible. I Weighed over 650 LBS, and was in a wheelchair most of the time. That was 3 years ago. TODAY is different. I have now lost 400 Lbs and I'm starting the journey of look for a live-aboard sailboat. I am so excited. My Dream is finally going to come ture!
What a beautiful anchorage and wonderful sunrise/set reflections in the water. Glad you're all shipshape and Bristol fashion ready of the transit, looking forward to seeing that video.
Hey! I’m friends with misty and Lana and they told me about your adventures so I’ve been tagging along here and learning so much because this is also on my bucket list! It amazes me how u taught ur selves how to sail!
Hey Desarae! Ah that explains the FB request! Haha! Welcome to our channel! That is so cool that you've been watching and following us! Hope to meet you when I visit Misty and Lana this summer!
Hi .this is rather late but catching up on your vids. That type of shaft fitting often has a grease nipple fitted on top.grease once or twice a week and stops leaks but lubes packings.
I love all your sailing adventure videos, that's why I never miss you. Always keeping it real, fun and of course, exciting. I can see why the military used the jungle in Panama. It looks just like Vietnam, during the war. Stay groovy and stay safe.
I think it is Toucan, LOL. Thank you for a great episode. No diving today_ Epic drone shots, Nice to see how to adjust the drip rate on the shaft. I am glad the girls made it back
@@SailingOneLife Yes the rope launching with the dinghy was epic. I actually got scared a while that she was going to injure herself coming back to the boat. That could have gone really really wrong.
Hey Gary; Worked with hundreds of Engineers. They usually just do the paper work and ignore the repair. The good ones on the other hand do the repair first and worry about the paperwork after. Good on you mate.
Outstanding video. Nice river voyage. Good monkey impression Gary 👍. Great record keeping of your repairs, part numbers and date of completion. Great to be along on your adventures. Cheers 👍🇺🇸😎⛵️🥇
Hahaha Gary's favorite animal is a monkey, can you tell? 🙈🙉🙊 Thank you for coming along on these adventures with us. We are so happy we get to share them with you!
Toucan Sam, Great Video Y'all. Loved it. Back in 1992 I was at Fort Sherman for jungle training, located on Toro Point at the Caribbean (northern) end of the Canal. We called it ( Green Hell ).
Loved this video, really enjoy the "normal life" you guys show. Most video makers may think this is boring and not worth the time, but I really like seeing what the normal day consist of. Can't wait to see you next video! BTW, was curious if you guys thought about what you would do if your drone happened to go down in the forest?? Awesome video captures!
Ahh yes it's not all white sand beaches and bikinis! It's easy to over-sell this lifestyle, but there's a lot of work and daily tasks that don't often make it on the camera. We try to give as much of a look into our actual lives as possible. If it did crash on land, we could get the last GPS coordinates of it from the controller and go searching. That would be better than the last time I guess, when it dropped into the middle of the ocean!
@@SailingOneLife LOL...yea, I'm sure that set up for a bit of panic!! It's the same thing as going full time living in an RV off the grid, you have to work at it to be able to enjoy the life. Safe travels!!

I am buying a boat, and it has a dripless seal on the shaft. I am a little concerned that if a dripless seal fails, it could be catastrophic. I think a leak that gets worse slowly seems a better option.
Yes the old style packing nuts like we have are pretty bulletproof. But even if a dripless fails the amount of water coming in through the gap around the shaft shouldn't overwhelm a proper bilge pump system. I would feel fine with either option, both just need to be monitored and maintained properly. What is the boat you are buying?
Hey Rodney! Ah bummer, we introduced the girls a few episodes ago - in episode 64. We met KK and Jill-Ena in Bocas del Toro. They are backpacking their way around Central America and spent a month with us!

Probably because of the acidity of the water, just like Rio Negro in Amazonas, Brazil. It also avoids the risk of malaria in those places
