He’s got all his marbles at 81, that’s no mean feat, like many of his peers, he’s earned his stripes, well done on passing the test of time sir

Yes, the marbles were all there, although I believe he turned 79 in 2017 here, but close enough.

Me too. I grew up during his "prime" and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is the most beautiful and haunting song ever written.

In the age of the internet, music is a feast for anyone like me who tries to study guitar and song, with , so many great artists to choose from , it gets overwhelming, but after a long life with Gordon Lightfoot I can honestly say I find him absolutely astonishingly gifted as a composer and singer, his comparatively simple approach to guitaring makes all his songs such a delight to listen to. Thanks Gordon , thanks for enriching my life, you are the best of them all. YOU are the totem pole you refer to here , other artists know that, including Dylan..

Gord says he and his band rehearse 40 or 50 songs that they can call on at any time but that they can't stand out there for 4 and a half hours and do them all because it's not fair to the people. I am going on record here to say, Mr. Lightfoot...please do not worry about what is fair to me if I am in your audience. I will gladly and willingly sit or stand, any day and any time, for 4 and one half hours to listen to you play your songs. Please play as many as you want. It will not hurt my feelings whatsoever. In fact, I would be honored to do so.

Why has Gordon Lightfoot never received the Kennedy Center Honors? Compared to other music people who have received it, it just shows a lack of knowledge on the part of the selection committee. Let's all write to the Kennedy Center Honors. Gordon truly, truly deserves it.

I was just as emotional as Ingrid when I found out my own dad had had his mitral valve in his heart repaired; my mom didn't tell me and my brothers until after the surgery was over (which took 5 hours; they even injected the last two lethal injection chemicals into him after hooking him up to the heart and lung machine, albeit in much lesser doses) and she'd gone to see him because she didn't want us to worry; but he was home 5 days after the procedure and went for follow-ups every couple of weeks after. He now has the blood pressure of an 18-year-old, better than all 3 of his kids; my youngest brother is almost 22!
