I think that the solar pannel setup is great. Accessing it on the roof of any building requires someone younger than us. It's great shelter and storage as well. It's perfect. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦

Awesome progress and simpler but functional build on the solar panels. This reminds us of our 250 each 85# bags that we used for our ballasted mount system. It was a totally labor intensive operation that we had to endure from transport up the hill to mixing and placement. Were glad it was when we were a bit younger though. We get normal 80+ mile an hour winds on our system so we had to really get serious on our mounts and ballast system.
I have bookmarked this video to use as a template for my panel mount expected to be constructed sometime in the next year. I really like this design as it is dual purpose with storage, looks great and is very solid. Well done!
Think about all of the bugs and flying insects those birds eat. I've got two pair of flycatchers that raise their families here every year and enjoy watching them catching their meals. Every day they clean off all the moths that cover the front of my shed next to the night lights, among other insects. You're right about the pooping on everything though...lol. When will the retaining wall go in?
I think your solar system is very nicely done and it seems it served you very well so far! I have very similar structure for my solar panels, just one row of panels and 35° angle. I have it covered all in stained tongue and groove planks, since it's sitting in my garden and is partially visible from house. It's a handy storage shed for long items, such as spare wood material, building material for my further additions to little ranch, etc. One thing I did differenty is that I used ground screws instead of concrete posts, since I plan to move the solar to house addition later. And other difference is, that I didn't use any rail system and roofing underneath - I instead spaced rafters exacly to the with of the panels+6mm, put sealing underneath at gaps and screwed them directly to the 8x8cm rafters. Worked perfectly, the solar panelst themselves are the roof! And it allows excellent access to the cables underneath the panels. Since my panel array is temporary, I designed chose a simple design. Your solar shed is definitely build to last and I wish you to get the best results year after year! 👍👍👏
Nice execution. I appreciate the logical explanation of your decisions. A thought on trying to repel birds; try stringing up fish line above the panels. The intent being that the birds can't easily see the line and will harmlessly snag it in flight. Once freaked out, they will avoid the area. No guarantee, but maybe worth a try? I've seen it done over swimming pools in Florida.

I have land and would rather not place panels on the roof (at least not 30-35 panels). It makes more sense to ground mount as long as the animals can’t get to it. I am looking at Iron Ridge with schedule 40 pipe in the ground or possibly Sinclair with seasonal adjustment.
Ground mounts are an interesting idea. I think if you have the space and the right hardware, though, it often makes more sense to just oversize your array, or to install panels at several different angles. Solar panels themselves are so cheap these days.
Agreed. We do have plans to add about 4 more panels on a post that can easily be moved daily and seasonally and we have a small windmill we plan to put on top of the dome when we’re done building

That does sound very labor intensive!!! Sounds like it was worth the effort though with those crazy winds you guys get there!
