as someone who's absent drug addict father would tell "you're my best friend bud" it's never a good idea to be best friends or "partners in crime" with your son.
A parents job is to instruct to educate to shelter to feed and to instill values into their child. Being their buddy should be near the bottom of the list. It's important to be your kids friend but a genuine friend. A real friend calls you out, picks you up when you are down, is there for you at your worst and celebrating you at your best and encouraging and pushing you to better yourself. This was so hard for me to watch. I'm not famous like Anthony, but we have a few commonalities. My stepfather introduced me to hard drugs at the age of 11 and convinced me to have sex with a 29 year old woman. I Didn't want to do it because I was scared and didn't know what to do. The experience changed my life forever in a very negative way. He's still alive and out there and maybe one day I will be able to confront him and tell him how much he screwed me up. It messed me up with how I looked at sex and intimacy which really effected relationships I was in, and it also got me started on a path of drugs and alcohol that I finally beat 10 years ago at the age of 36. Looking back I realize now he was a terrible father and abused me for some sick reason, and that now today would of be convicted of child abuse at a minimum. Pay attention to people and don't let children become victimized.
I’m so sorry that you went through that. As a female, I went through very similar things with predatory grown men. It started me on a path of messed up relationships and drug and alcohol addiction. I’ve been sober now for 7 years. I know how long it takes to let go of trauma but the only way is sobriety. All the best to you 💙

As a former drug user who was easily able to stop, but had so many friends that died. I hate heroin especially, and meth. Don't do drugs , don't be curious. Curiosity killed the cat. Look at what it did to all these great bands. When the death or disappearance of friends and loved ones becomes routine.. its time to seek help and find out what sober life is like. When parents bring up children with no boundaries, normalizing abnormal behavior it becomes part of their psyche. They don't see anything wrong with their actions.

Really well done. I was a student at George Mason at that time and was friends with some of the Program Board, who booked the acts. I wasn't backstage after the show, but it didn't take long for friends of friends to hear what happened. I've never gotten over it. He's a predator, period. I knew he had a f'ed up childhood, but I had never seen that interview with his "father". Unreal. As a parent, you can't be best friends with your 13-year-old. Especially when your life is sex and drugs. Seems like Anthony was doomed from the start, but I still can't stand him at all and never will. It's a shame, because the band has made some of the most incredible music ever.

My sister was a huge RHCP fan back in the 90s. She went to a concert in the 2010s and said it was the worst show she's ever been to as they were all high beyond anything she's ever seen. They didn't even sound proper at all! She said she was repulsed by the sight and that she regrets being so infatuated by this band.
I liked them in the late 80s early 90s, but it kind of died down after Blood, sugar, sex, magic. Especially when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, basically the grunge scene started, plus Tori Amos, Sarah McLaughlin, and Bjork came out about the same time (or I should say got big. They all have been around, just not very well known). After that, the RHCP seemed like a shit band. I'm glad I discovered and continued to discover other bands. Honestly, they were fun when I was young, but it didn't have a lasting effect.
Interesting docu-series on Netflix called Trainwreck that’s about the 1999 Woodstock music festival that had an incredible music lineup but everything else about it lead to the destruction of this so called reincarnation of Woodstock back in 1969. in so many different ways.

I read his book Scar Tissue as a young teen, and I remember not thinking too much of it at the time. I lived in America my whole life and complained about my chest from childhood but without insurance at the time nobody seemed to care. But my point is most American people are busy fighting each other and name calling rather than working together to make things better. My heart breaks for these girls, young women, and other females who have been victimized by this band. I don't care who you are you don't have the right to force yourself on females or physically hurt them. And you can't blame drugs or use drugs as a damn excuse as to why you did and do these things. How do I reconcile my love for the music this band makes and the horrific abuse they caused these girls, young women, and other females who didn't know what Keddis and some of the others in the band were doing? @Joeblogs999 I used to work for hhs and some in state cases might go like that. Out of state cases rarely would. The state would exspect the mother to interstate sue on her own the father and then the state would enforce what the judge ordered in the suite.
@sam12587 I find that hard to believe. Any child which is being abuse can be reported to the social services which will take it into care. That is irrespective of where the other parent is. Otherwise we'd have children being abused everywhere. I suspect the mother couldn't handle the boy and didn't want the stress and responsibility.

This was so hard for me to watch. I'm not famous like Anthony, but we have a few commonalities. My stepfather introduced me to hard drugs at the age of 11 and convinced me to have sex with a 29 year old woman. I Didn't want to do it because I was scared and didn't know what to do. The experience changed my life forever in a very negative way. He's still alive and out there and maybe one day I will be able to confront him and tell him how much he screwed me up. It messed me up with how I looked at sex and intimacy which really effected relationships I was in, and it also got me started on a path of drugs and alcohol that I finally beat 10 years ago at the age of 36. Looking back I realize now he was a terrible father and abused me for some sick reason, and that now today would of be convicted of child abuse at a minimum. Pay attention to people and don't let children become victimized.

As a former drug user who was easily able to stop, but had so many friends that died. I hate heroin especially, and meth. Don't do drugs , don't be curious. Curiosity killed the cat. Look at what it did to all these great bands. When the death or disappearance of friends and loved ones becomes routine.. its time to seek help and find out what sober life is like.

Really well done. I was a student at George Mason at that time and was friends with some of the Program Board, who booked the acts. I wasn't backstage after the show, but it didn't take long for friends of friends to hear what happened. I've never gotten over it. He's a predator, period. My sister was a huge RHCP fan back in the 90s. She went to a concert in the 2010s and said it was the worst show she's ever been to as they were all high beyond anything she's ever seen. They didn't even sound proper at all! She said she was repulsed by the sight and that she regrets being so infatuated by this band.
I liked them in the late 80s early 90s, but it kind of died down after Blood, sugar, sex, magic. Especially when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, basically the grunge scene started, plus Tori Amos, Sarah McLaughlin, and Bjork came out about the same time (or I should say got big. They all have been around, just not very well known). After that, the RHCP seemed like a shit band. I'm glad I discovered and continued to discover other bands. Honestly, they were fun when I was young, but it didn't have a lasting effect.

I read his book Scar Tissue as a young teen, and I remember not thinking too much of it at the time. The older I got the more I realised how disturbing certain behaviour was, but it goes to show that not only do we need to talk about these things - but we also need to make sure younger individuals understand the severity of such actions.
I used to love RHCP, mostly between 1999 and 2011. I lost interest in their music after 2011's I'm With You, and after seeing this video, I have no intention of ever listening to them again. Nicely done video. I'll go ahead and subscribe, help you get to your first 1K subs.

My heart breaks for these girls, young women, and other females who have been victimized by this band. Shame on this band and any other people who did nothing to stop their behavior.
The craziest part is that Kiedis admitted to a lot of it in his memoir, written many years before the MeToo movement would begin to expose him.

I used to work for hhs and some in state cases might go like that. Out of state cases rarely would. The state would exspect the mother to interstate sue on her own the father and then the state would enforce what the judge ordered in the suite.
@sam12587 I find that hard to believe. Any child which is being abuse can be reported to the social services which will take it into care. That is irrespective of where the other parent is. Otherwise we'd have children being abused everywhere. I suspect the mother couldn't handle the boy and didn't want the stress and responsibility.
