The instrument in the music video is not Gayageum, but Geomungo.
Gayageum has 12 string and Geomungo has 6 string. Geomungo has a thicker string than gayageum, so use a stick called Suldae(술대).
Hwasa honestly gets the credit. She was involved in just about EVERYTHING: song writing, composing, mv, album packaging, promoting, marketing, etc. All the Mamamoo members like to be super involved. My theory is that, when she negotiated her extension, she got more creative freedom?
She's as involved as she's always been. She's been in charge of everything even before Twit.
@@wil6064 yeah, but i feel like this is pretty bold + budget. I don't know rbw well, and they've supported the girls with a lot, but this feels different
@@ProcrasTina I get it, but I still believe Twit/María were pretty similar with the budgeting. The production is exactly the same tho, she's even working with the same group/director for the MV, same stylist, same choreographer (Lia Kim), same dancers... Also, Hwasa always seems to know exactly what she wants and her ideas are really complex, that's also why her MV's look so cool and different from everything else (the reason I love her so much).
@@wil6064 yes. I'm not saying she's never had input. She's always been involved in her concept, but I personally think this comeback is on another level 1. Because she pushed herself but wondering if 2. She made some demands that got her even more freedom and/or support for future projects. It's okay to disagree!
Either way, I was saying that Hwasa should get the credit for this video, concept, song, etc (instead of rbw) because she's super involved in her work

The thing about Hwasa's releases is that it never gets credited to RBW. Hwasa herself outsourced producers, video directors, wrote and composed the song with park woosang and utilized her usual style team.

When she comes out of the box she wears the same dress she wore in 2020s MAMA where she performed Maria's intro dancing with the floor covered with the water
This track has some Korean producers including Hwasa’s longtime collaborator Park Woosang, but also non-Korean producers for the first time! (Those Swedes!) That’s why the sound is a little different than before :)

The more I watch it, the more I love it. This is a masterpiece. It’s just so classy and tasteful.
The initial scene can be compared to a birth, plus Hwasa has the same dress used in Maria, connecting the two mvs and themes as Maria was like a rebirth to her and the water (another recurring theme) represents life.
Basically this mv is an alternative end for Maria mv, here Hwasa embraces her bad side, "If I don't became a bit*h I can't survive" is what Hwasa thought while working on new music and it's the concept of the title track.
When she opens the door the scene is like watching inside that box she came out but as you can see everything is black outside instead inside the box is bright because Hwasa is the light.
As we will see later there are 2 Hwasa, one watching inside the box and one actually inside of it “there’s no light without shadow” as Hwasa said.
The whole mv and lyrics are playing with dark and bright, white and black, you can clearly see it in this part “life is so incredible. Even if I go crazy my sin is beautiful” then “life is now so terrible I can’t cry even if I smile”.
Her sin is beautiful because she’s doing what she loves, music, but she feels like she’s sinning because she’s ‘mistreating’ herself and the people she loves.
This is her guilty pleasure: pushing herself beyond her limits.
We can spot flowers in the whole mv, the pictures in the blue room, she’s wrapped under plastic like a flower in a bouquet and in the room with white furnitures, the only touch of color are the flowers…Hwasa loves flowers and her symbol is a flower.
Talking about this room, in Maria mv Hwasa wearing a sort of straitjacket was monitored in a white tiles room, she was cornered by pencils (comments) pointing at her…now she’s free standing bold on those white tiles furnitures, this time she has a pencil in her hand and she’s completing a crossword with ‘Hwasa’ and ‘Crazy’. Basically she’s saying I’m crazy, so what? Again with the lyrics ‘In a word I’m out of my mind so far I’m alive’ like she has to go crazy working on music to really live.
In the ending scene there is another recurring theme since Maria, the snake, another symbol of rebirth, transformation. Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. Of course that scene is hinting to another mv she will release for another track from Guilty Pleasure album. Hwasa co-wrote and co-composed 2 out of 3 tracks and this is the first time she teams up with non-Korean music producers.

The guy who plays the instrument, is Park Dawool. A member of KARDI which ranked 3 on "Superband 2", an amazing show with many musical geniuses💗 it would be SUPER COOL if you watched some of the performances💗

Out of all her solo comebacks "I'm a 빛" is probably my least favorite song, but the MV is gorgeous as always and I absolutely LOVE the dance breakdown with the classical instrument. Hwasa is staying true to herself and it's great. Hopefully this is a success for her!

Great reaction, as always. Not too hard given the caliber of MV you are reacting to. Mamamoo have talent oozing out of them. They could simply conquer the world. Take the title, for instance. It is a play on words - 빛 is directly translated to Korean as "light." I'm sure, when dissected properly, there's a lot more Easter eggs to find. Good job Hwasa and creative team!
The title of the song " I'm a 빛" it sounds exactly same as "I'm a bit**" but the Korean word "빛" actually means "Light" so I think it's word playing or something...
I'm a person who loves Hwasa and Korean traditions so much! After watching Hwasa's music video, I almost died of breathlessness. This is because I personally love Geomungo in this video. Geomungo was invented in an ancient Korean country called Goguryeo, and its appearance, playing method, and sound are unique to Korea that cannot be found anywhere in the world. It makes a sound by hitting the string strongly with a stick. That's why there's a strong and magnificent sound. Therefore, geomungo is often an instrument that symbolizes strong beauty. It suits her very well! The appearance of Geomungo in the video seems to have more meaning than the appearance of traditional instruments!
