Buying Ransomware Is Easier Than You Think

- Simple, scalable and low-risk, ransomware makes for a particularly tidy cybercrime. These days prospective attackers don’t even have to create their own ransomware; they can simply buy it on the dark web. Bloomberg investigations reporter Drake Bennett procured some malware to see how easy it was to launch an attack.

It's so stretched out without any content.
basiclly... you had to very foolish to be able to get them to work since .... modern computer don't let it to lock up... virus in nowaday is more like to traking and try to get finance info... and why the hell would you connect a important pc on the internet on first place?
@@campkira You vastly underestimate the stupidity of users. I work in IT and it's pretty insane how people would be willing to read you their bank info or enter their bank credentials into an email because the email looked semi official. Ransomware is becoming more of a novelty these days when all you have to do is make a user thing they have a virus even if there is no real indication of it. Most hacking these days is social engineering.
@@campkira Attacks like NotPetya can also affect an entire network of computers, just by getting access to one. I think they just tested the most basic form of ransomware in this video
The editing on this is pretty bad. The story jumps all over the place and in the end nothing really happens.
they are trying to copy the other media channels but bloomberg sucks at editing
So... clickbait. Nice.
This could have been such a great video if they had included images and process flow representations of how the guy went from searching for ransomware as a service to infecting his boss' laptop. Instead they've made an 11+ min video with content that could've been represented in 53 seconds (the exact time stamp for when there is a typo in the video).
Yeah, you right it's waste of time but on the other hand it might be illegal to show people that kind stuff couse you makin' easier for them to try raas or malware thing also youtube wouldn't like it i guess..

That was a pretty effective ad for ransomeware brought to you by Bloomberg.
This is how we write reports, news and exams -stretched with very little info.
technologically illiterate?
Interesting that you use a laptop with Ubuntu on it then?
Reg Jennings and secretly only using the command line
With jinxed code that isn’t there with the amount of number it spits out
bitcoin is traceable (to a certain extent). Cash is not traceable.
Every USD also has a unique address: serial numbers.
Yeah. That's exactly why they use cash in ransomware. Oh wait! They don't. They use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
It’s not traceable if you know what you’re doing. Most people wouldn’t be willing to go through all the work though.
There's a whole market of crypto traders that you can go through who are doing something as illegal as you are. It's certainly not 100% untraceable but it's definitely less traceable than cash if you know your way arouns
@m why all this mess ?? Monero alone is enough.
What’s missing from this story is the trust relationship between the two Bloomberg employees. Think about it like this, someone coming to break into your network doesn’t first notify you and there typically is some form of endpoint protection. They neglected to mention what safeguards were in place that this ransomware somehow mitigated.
Those windows sound effects 😃
Looks like a TRS-80 model III in the background (2:51).
when you mean hacker for hire you also mean people like NSO Group right
typo at 0:53
Unacceptable, they need to hanged and quartered
Holy hell this is frightening interesting.
News Alert: there are creepy people everywhere, including the dark web
That’s not true everybody on the darkweb is malware friendly
did that simple journalist used Tor, Linux and a terminal to say he's a simple journalist without any tech savyness or u intend that the "use" of these tools, not the "set up" of these, is achievable by non-tech savvy users
Where i can buying rensomware plis?
So, you consider letting people know that anyone can do this of public interest? I say that it might entice more people to actually do it.
Dude paid $150 for a site , this ham got ripped😂
Drake work for Bloomberg also
So interesting
I hate hand movements
Good thing this was for an investigative piece. Otherwise, *pretty* sure this is grounds for being fired.
Geofencing. It's like saying that russia will let its hackers hack if they don't hack russia. It's similar with indian and chinese hackers too.
Thank you Lexogeek for saving my life!
That's scary how easy it is to attack someone with ransomware
rly
How to find ransomware
One word for you sir. Fud.
Wow. I didn't know i could do This to my boss. Hahaha
Are there any interesting companies in this space?
Dre is not a hacker.
Wasted my time. Surprised to get that from Bloomberg.
How to buy ransomware
Ransomware not ransomeware
Seems like they where mainly trying to make a point instead of show entertaining content. I'd imagine they didn't want to promote any specific dark web site or specific malware tool. I'm guessing that's why they didn't make this more entertaining and show us more. It would've be fun to see what they were doing though as most of us, including myself, have no idea what those programs or sites even look like. Or maybe their lawyers told them not too.
I find fascination in this topic, yet this is remarkably uninteresting. You didn't actually show any of the process or talk about the systems in place against this stuff... You didn't even include the element of the reaction of your boss as he was on to the sceme the whole time. Just two guys taking into a camera conveying no actual information
Bruh use Monero BTC are traceable you might get caught!
Am I the only one that's never been attacked by ransomeware
just boomer things xD
@@V23TheF4iler Fun fact. Boomers are using all of the resources because you don't deserve them.
Of course not dude
@@thisismagacountry1318 Fun fact. Everything after these 2 words is true and has to be taken seriously. You're a living meme my lonely friend.
They go after big companies that have value and sensitive files to blackmail...you have nothing to offer hackers if you did they would target you
You realize that you guys just argued that it's not that easy? Your product did not work. Who is going to ignore all the warning boxes? I'm sorry, this experiment has failed. And you had to go to the dark web for information, create a bit coin wallet etc.
- I'm particularly technology illiterate
--- Has linux installed on his laptop ---
Wtf, linux is just an operatin' system just like windows
Lol was looking for the exact same comment, linux is not an is for everyone.
🔥
😴
Computers illiterate but use umbutu
This video is all condiments and no food. What a waste of time.
This is clickbait, it's boring, and you're drawing attention to the ease of access to ransomeware. This is a bad video.
So long. No content
P
Nice propaganda, I see this starts to become a trend so I’ll just unsusbcribe and save myself from watching these bogus videos. Also, kindly report this video for spam.
This was not well done at all….. v disappointing.
Liar.
The dramatic pose @9:16 followed by the change in tone is all just really cringey acting.
Did not enjoy this video at all lmao
This video is scam
