Parkour isn't skateboarding. If you are careful you control the variables because you are the variable. There aren't wheels to slip out from underneath you, there is your body which you choose to carefully use and preserve

More exactly, "un parcours" is a predefined way that can be filled with obstacles. It can also be just a track for running, walking,... Like, there are "parcours" in forests for example, tracks that people are meant to walk on. But yeah, the verb "parcourir" approximately means "travel", although not in a "travel to a foreign country" kind of sense, more like "go through something from point A to point B". So, as a french I thought it would be nice to elaborate and try to explain what the word really means (hope it's clear, though) ! :)
