I've read several books on the history of the plague, and some priests also thought that drinking menstruation blood would cure/ward off the plague. I kind of just think that the whole situation was so devastating that they were willing to try anything. But yeah, they did a LOT of gross things thinking it would ward off the plague.

      Lack of reliable birth control.
Women would have up to 10, sometime more, children over the reproductive time of their lives. Therefore increasing the chance that at least some of those children would make it to adulthood and pop out another 10 to 14 children themselves.

@@kyliepechler sadly, your numbers are pretty accurate, they probably weren't much better in the upper classes, I know Catharine of Aragon had a dozen or so and only one survived, cant say that I necessarily feel bad for Hank, yes Anne was a homewrecker, but there were plenty in line behind her, personally I think I'm stuck on Natalie Dormer with jet black hair, fair skin and outrageous blue eyes. There were a few guys that helped propagate the species William the conqueror, Charlageme and of course Gengis the Kahn had boatloads of offspring, I think 1 in 200 people alive today can be linked to, more the closer you get to mongol territories.
