This is just what I needed! I would also like similar/complimenting patterns for a tattoo style Japanese dragon and tiger as well. That would be awesome.
Thank you for the very detailed video. Great explanations of the why’s and where’s to bevel. I’ve only been doing this for about 6 years so I still have much to learn and I greatly appreciate your willingness to teach.
You are a marvelous artist...and a damn good teacher too. I ached to be standing behind you & seeing what you were looking a as you worked... Perhaps there's a way to put the camera there? The focus was good when you held the leather up to the camera. Nevertheless, Thank you for taking the time to make & post this video. I learned stuff & feel inspired & encouraged.
Thank you for the video you clarified quite a few things up for me but what would be really nice is to actually see the tool that you’re using as well it’s hard to see exactly what type of tool it is and how its shaped for instance where you were flattened down things to give it more depth
Oh yeah... Question; How do you keep the oils from your hand contaminating your work? Or, does it even do that? Is there a way to clean it off, prior to applying any coatings, paints, or dyes? I'm new at this... real new! Like six weeks into it, and I don't want to invest a days worth of time, only to kill it with hand oils. Sorry for the question, but it seems legit to me. Thank you for your time!
I do wash my hands a lot, but for the most part it is really not an issue for the work I do. I do see some videos though where folks are wearing gloves while they work... mostly oriental people.
Kewl, several of my projects are fueled by the exact same adult beverage that you have in the background there. Just started tinkering with leatherwork and have VERY limited funds for this rather expensive hobby that I am making available for commission based orders to my growing clientele. Any suggestions on where to pick up tools of decent quality until I can dedicate more cash as my skills and abilities improve? I have just been buying one here and one there but it’s so frustrating to be “crippled” by lack of necessary tools for a project. I have made some tools from scrap materials laying around my shop... including a head knife, a thumbprint stamp and several other stamps for very specific applications. I’m loving the videos and certainly appreciate the “long-hand” template that provides so much needed detail.
A-A-Ron... This video is exactly what I needed! It was "Fish Lips" that did it for me! Very great talent, Sir, and I love your subtle sense of humor! That's Texas, for sure! I lived in Killeen for a few years, after I finished with the Army, so that I could work for ManTech, on Ft. Hood. I totaled my Vette back there, and decided to move and go back to work in Afghanistan. I'm still there, right now, watching you teach on RUclips! Thank you!
@@makersleathersupply1220 Thank you, Sir. I consider myself lucky, to have stumbled upon your videos. Especially another military guy. Did you do this while you were in Army (Just guessing Army)? I'll bet your Platoon members were always hitting-you-up for "Favors". Anyway, thank you, very much!

It's beautifully done, but I really wish the video was more zoomed in onto what you were doing, so we could actually see you tooling it.
“... pause the video so that we can all remain friends.” ... LOL

Glad we could help. I spent a few years deployed, keep your head down and be safe!
