At 40 years old, i genuinely remember her playing this when it was broadcast on ITV, I must've been about 8. I've whistled it for years and now suddenly I've found it. Thank you. 😂👍
"I'll put my sprouts on in Novembeeeerrrrrrr!" This is such a warm, lovely song. Who else would celebrate every life other than Victoria Wood? So glad that her work lives on.
Victoria basically retired when Id discovered her at 13 years old. In 34 now, and I can still say she's one of the greatest! No one come close to her persona or comedic identity! Legend!
I've always remembered the line about saying "No way Hosea" and having "a mortgage that's the size of Wales" lol! You know if this song was 10 times longer I'd still love it -all the stories. xx
How dare 12 silly lazy people sat watching RUclips in their phones sit and watch a piece of art by an incredible woman who became so famous for her clean and award winning humour. How could you DISLIKE it. It's my favourite song ever actully
I've just recently (relatively speaking) discovered this wonderful woman. I can just tell, she is a beautiful soul. Sadly, we lost her way too soon. ❤❤
Victoria, thank you for being in my life and making me laugh so much, how on earth is this world going to live without you in it. I miss you so much but I am so glad you were here. I only mourn what else you could have given us, we love you.
So gutted about Victoria leaving us.. Along with Julie Walters, Jenifer Saunders and Dawn French.. They put womens comedy on a whole new level.. and probably the best of all has left us.. R.I.P Victoria.. One who shall never be repeated.. copied maybe.. but no one will ever be as good. :(
+Fingers Titan haha, i agree with all your sentiments , except, the suggestion that any person COULD be repeated, e.g., if your missing your friend.. just repeat them, then you might feel less bereft haha.
OH MAN!! I've been looking for this for ages!! "I want to drink warm Rose and say No way hosea and have a mortgage that's the size of the Wales" looool! xx
My first time to see this, oh WOW!!!! Absolutely brilliant! She was such a talent, so sadly lost but thank goodness we can rewatch so much of her work. I love Acorn Antiques and Val De Ree, Dinner Ladies.... love it all!
Just playing a few Victoria ditties on NYE 18, my 3 year old son is now a huge fan, we've had to play this about three times and he still wants more! lol! xx
I hope that Victoria found Joyce Grenfell coming out to meet 'little Vicky' at the Stage Door again, even though out of our sight. Live on, rather than RIP, Victoria! Life needs you.
Now every Victoria Wood video on RUclips is littered with tedious 'RIP' comments. These videos are here to be enjoyed. She put so much work into making people laugh, so all the bores writing the same tedious and unoriginal comments are doing her a huge disservice.
elvisleeboy It's called respect, if anything, you are the one doing a disservice by complaining about people leaving their respects to a well-loved entertainer.
Zoe-Jane Sutherland 'RIP' is a meaningless platitude, particularly when it is said by countless others. I think she deserves better than that. She deserves to have her life and work celebrated, rather than be defined by her death. Yes, her premature death was a tragedy, but the fact is, we are the lucky ones who got to have her for as long as we did.
@unitedwestand Absolutely. Similarly with the 'thoughts and prayers' rubbish people write before instantly moving on. It is self serving, because it is all about them and not really for the benefit of the recipient. They are doing it as a quick way to alleviate themselves and to be seen to be doing what they think society expects of them with the minimal effort required. Real grief is private and these attention-seeking public displays are crass and undignified.
Revisiting these songs of vintage Victoria I'm realising they are not simply vehicles for her amazing ability as a comic lyricist (eat your heart out W S Gilbert, Noel Coward, practically anyone you can think of) but that the best of them, like this one, have such bloody good tunes. There's a danger that in gawping at her verbal dexterity and piercingly sharp observation, we under-rate her simply as a songwriter.
Will be looking you out for you, second time round. Sad today but you have left and given so much laughter - Reincarnation In Paradise...................
"I'll put my sprouts on in novemberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" Hahahahahahahaha, sounds just like my dear old mum,god bless her. She'd spend the 1st half of the month slashing crosses in the bottom of about 20 pounds of sprouts, then the 2nd half boiling them to the point where you could slurp said sprouts through a straw! Victoria Wood is the ultimate in observational humour.
I'm listening to this now with the auto generated captions switched on and laughing my butt off. "I want to have big bum chimes in a bathroom with a sharp pain sweet...." LOL!
Er well she had her 'awesome' moments, lol.Though she didn't often appreciate it when we'd have to ball our fists into our mouths to try to hide our laughter! But she was a dear & I do miss her. "I want to be Mrs.Pugh & live in an avenue..."
Sounds like your Mum and my Mum cooked their sprouts the same way. And my Mum's mashed potato also had big grey lumps in - I think that's why this song made her laugh so much.
The chord sequence of this whole song (once it gets going) is the same as 'Tip Top Tap' from the Acorn Antiques musical... so if you've heard that maybe that's why it's ringing bells?
@transmissionends64 , Whoa, steady on dearheart, lol.Love is a subjective word! Ok,you're right, yes I admit it,I love her! There, satisfied now?! Hahahahahahaha! Actually,it's your numerous uploads which remind me of so much that I've forgotten about her work! I watched her the other night on Paul O'Grady & I have to say,she didn't seem particularly pleased to be on his show. But she did have some theatrical venture to promote,so there you go. Reincarnation! I wanna come back as VW!
I like to believe Victoria is reincarnated every generation, that way the world is still as bright as when she left us.
At 40 years old, i genuinely remember her playing this when it was broadcast on ITV, I must've been about 8. I've whistled it for years and now suddenly I've found it. Thank you. 😂👍
Exactly the same, “A Cleavage that could Drown a Mouse” those Lyrics were repeated by everyone who ever herd this amazing song!
"I'll put my sprouts on in Novembeeeerrrrrrr!"
This is such a warm, lovely song. Who else would celebrate every life other than Victoria Wood? So glad that her work lives on.
I agree with you so much!
I put mine on in November. They should be just about ready on Monday.
Just the best line, the ones immediately before keep raising the bar, then the sprouts line knocks it out f the park.
Victoria basically retired when Id discovered her at 13 years old. In 34 now, and I can still say she's one of the greatest! No one come close to her persona or comedic identity! Legend!
I wish I could capture something I love like this. She clearly loved her community so much.
RIP Victoria. One life per person really is not enough...
+DDLondonBridge It is when you're immortal like she is. :-) xx
+DDLondonBridge She doesn't need more than one life, her comedy and memory will long outlive all of us
+DDLondonBridge Maybe she'll come back as Mrs Pugh and "do a lot with Oxo"
Let's hope so. I'd like to taste that mashed potato.
I miss her so I hope she returns as someone else. I would love to live next door.
"Have a roller blind with scolloped edges", bet that's in no other song! Fantastic!!!
I've always remembered the line about saying "No way Hosea" and having "a mortgage that's the size of Wales" lol!
You know if this song was 10 times longer I'd still love it -all the stories. xx
Genius, I’m so thankful to have been around in this era! No one will ever match her!
Yes I agree, We had the good times, not sure I like it now.
Victoria Wood was the absolute best comedian EVER!!!
RIP Victoria...let’s hope you still among us as Mrs. Pew living your fourth best life xx
How dare 12 silly lazy people sat watching RUclips in their phones sit and watch a piece of art by an incredible woman who became so famous for her clean and award winning humour. How could you DISLIKE it. It's my favourite song ever actully
Trolls. Wanting reactions like yours. Sad buggers, imagine how pathetic their lives are.
I've just recently (relatively speaking) discovered this wonderful woman. I can just tell, she is a beautiful soul. Sadly, we lost her way too soon. ❤❤
Tracksuit bottoms and stiletto flip flops. What a comic genius. She was awesome live too. Miss you Victoria.
Victoria, thank you for being in my life and making me laugh so much, how on earth is this world going to live without you in it. I miss you so much but I am so glad you were here. I only mourn what else you could have given us, we love you.
i wonder if she actually knew how utterly loved by the public she was
I hope so too. Beloved and adored
I hope so she was utterly fantastic
What a master of language manipulation! So much fun. Hope you’re enjoying your reincarnation, girl 😊
So gutted about Victoria leaving us..

Such sad news today, which life will you come back in Victoria? None will be as hysterical as the one you just left. Rest in peace, lovely crazy lady.
Victoria Wood is a part of my childhood I’ll never forget. She shaped more of my own humour and character than a TV personality should!
God bless you, Victoria. The world will be that little bit darker without you.
Thank God we still have recordings of Victoria. I miss her loads. RIP X
5 years today, still undoubtedly the best British comedian, a genius

She's a riot and very talented.
My first time to see this, oh WOW!!!! Absolutely brilliant! She was such a talent, so sadly lost but thank goodness we can rewatch so much of her work. I love Acorn Antiques and Val De Ree, Dinner Ladies.... love it all!

Such a talent
I remember toasters with ears of wheat in the 1980s.
Er well she had her 'awesome' moments, lol.Though she didn't often appreciate it when we'd have to ball our fists into our mouths to try to hide our laughter! But she was a dear & I do miss her. "I want to be Mrs.Pugh & live in an avenue..."
i like Victoria Wood because she is so funny
Sounds like your Mum and my Mum cooked their sprouts the same way. And my Mum's mashed potato also had big grey lumps in - I think that's why this song made her laugh so much.

Go out for an Aqua Libre - I loved that drink..
The chord sequence of this whole song (once it gets going) is the same as 'Tip Top Tap' from the Acorn Antiques musical... so if you've heard that maybe that's why it's ringing bells?
