I'm a 74 year old woman, have been watching your channel for a couple of years. Love it! Was a little put off when Susie joined the team, but I've reconsidered! She is a wonderful addition! Thanks, Susie, for a such a good, thorough presentation. I'm in the process of ordering the jacket now! Keep up the good work, despite stick-in-the-mud viewers like me!
Ive followed channel for (whats seems) long time, i wouldnt say Susie joined the team but more allowed herself into the limelight as her other pressing concerns lightened 🤣
I've been using my Trek 100 down jacket for about 7 months now, it has a permanent place in my backpacking kit. One thing I think is worth mentioning is the fact that their down is certified responsibly sourced as well, which I think is a big deal.
We have Decathlon here in the UK. I first heard about this jacket from another RUclipsr, Justin Outdoors and he recommended it in the midst of a Canadian winter. The jacket you have reviewed is excellent for the price, so good in fact , I bought two. There are plenty of other good Decathlon items out there as well, try the merino wool kit. Keep up the good work....
Oooooo Sister thank you!! I bought 2 merino t-shirts, 2 merino pull overs, a fleece sweatshirt, and the same down jacket in magenta (pink). Thanks so much! There's a TON of value at this company! I didnt have much in the way of hiking clothes, as I just got into it last summer. Now I'm set! Have a great day, and thanks again! Oh, sorry, hi Luke!!
The male version is actually great for guys with long arms and torso I'm 6'⁴ and have had the jacket for 3 years use it everyday in the winter in city and probably 8 camping trips a year with a few cinder burns from stupidity near fires☹️
Yeay, again some decathlon review! thx so much. I've been watching this channel for 2 years now, and as European always wished there would be this company present in US, so i would match the reviews to the budget-friendly options here. thank you
I bought one of these and absolutely love it! It’s comparable to some very expensive ultralight puffy jackets. I live in an area with a lot of stabby plants and cactus. So far the shell hasn’t ripped or snagged. At $80 it’s a remarkable buy.
I purchased the trick 100. I'm a medium slim fit male. The reviews say that the jacket runs small and to buy a size up which I did. I purchased a large. I was very impressed with the quality of the jacket and it seemed to fit nice but still a bit snug. And unfortunately when I tried to sit down in a car or a dinner I noticed it felt very tight around my chest. Now. Keep in mind I just had a T-shirt on. There's no way I could have had a sweater on under this jacket. I'm not going to trash this company. I think this is an insane value. It's a great jacket. I'm just warning you, but if you buy it goes a size up but no but you may have to exchange it for an even larger size. Do not cut the tags out until you're sure you're comfortable with the way it fits and that if you intend to layer or even just wear a sweater under it, make sure it fits properly and it's not too tight.
Well done, Susan. Thank you for the review. Because of the no nonsense design, reasonable price, and water resistance of the jacket this should be looked at for guys too. Strong work. Thanks again. Texas
I really love your agenda free approach. I came here after watching Justin's video who, although he isn't sponsored, uses affiliate links so it made me a bit wary of the products. It's great hearing from a completely non-sponsored, non-affiliated creator
I purchased one in early 2023 and it was true to size - fits the same as my North Face puffy. Also it is available in a hoodless version simply called Forclaz MT100 for even less (I paid $55). Decathlon confirmed to me that it is the same jacket as the Trek100 simply without the hood. For me this makes it easier to layer as my outer shell had a hood and I can wear a beanie. Great jacket!
You can get this jacket for 50€ here in Germany (about $58). I have been wearing a similar Decathlon jacket all winter, worn it at -10 °C without issues, keeps really warm. I also have another similar down jacket from another brand that cost more than 4 times the price of the Decathlon jacket, and the differences are negligible. I can easily recommend it, especially for that price tag.
I recently purchased some Decathlon stuff (Solognac hunting shirt, Forclaz rainjacket...) after a review from Gruntproof. Really good quality and amazing price! Great stuff. Is in my list now together with HelikonTex and Carinthia. Good review Susie!

I cannot believe you were auditioning decathlon down jacket the same time I was. I got the 500 and I think it's a steal. Yes, very correct, the size runs small and a little tight. But, for $100 tax, title and license... I think this is a great addition to your winter kit. I will be trying out the larger and heavier winter one next year. Thanks me lady and cheers to a great and informative video.
Thanks for the review! I just ordered this jacket and at least the male version comes also in black. Decathlon is not in my country but I used a mail forwarding service. Even with the additional fees I think it's worth it. They have lots of other budget clothing as well.
Great looking jacket with a great price! Looks good on you, Susie. I've always admired how you and Luke dress for the trail...very distinctive and professional. There are many great channels on YT but so many of the hosts look unkempt or wear apparel that is not befitting the image that they are trying to present.
I have this in mens in the olive green and a few friends have them. I picked it up for 40 quid in the UK at Christmas. The price is going up on them the last few times I looked maybe Brexit or just that so many good reviews are out in the world now on them so maybe bumping the price. The jacket is superb for me being tall it fits brilliant in XL at 6.3 tall 225lbs. Never had it off my back since I bought it. The only problem is it hard to get in stock in larger sizes in the best colours.
I purchased the Trek 300 for both myself and my wife, seems well built and warm but fits small. I normally wear an XL so I ordered an XXL to fit over other layers. It fits a bit small so I have to wear it as the one under my other brand XL (it gets in the -40s were I live in Canada which is why I need to layer down jackets when static). I recommend them just order a size or two up.
I like Decathalon products: tend to be very good quality for the price, which sometimes is silly low (I own 4 squash racquets that I paid $50/ea and they easily perform like my $180 ones). The items I've bought have tended to run slightly small (from boots to gloves to shorts) but the ones that fit and that I kept were fine. Best part? ONE YEAR free return. That is, I'm terrible at processing returns, and when I finally got around to doing so, they happily took back the too-small shorts from summer with the too-small winter boots. Definitely a company to keep shopping with. Note: their US website is tough to navigate; pages load very slowly, and sizes tend to be out of stock often. They're truly a global company, selling everywhere, and availability sometimes reflects that.
We have had ours for 2 or so years. Both are wearing well. I have been using Decathlon product for years. My Decathlon snowboard is made by Rossignol for Decathlon. My friend likes it better than his Burton board. Their boots are good also. In Europe they provide a full range of equipment suitable for, in my opinion every body's different needs and budgets. Shame that the outdoor magazines do not include their products in reviews often. I suspect that they do not want to upset their mainstream advertiser's.
Decathlon is a European sports discounter which originated in France in the 70s. It's what Aldi is for groceries. The stuff they offer is sometimes 20% of the price of similar brand name items. It seems to me that the most sold items in the stores carry a Deathlon-specific label or brand name. Even though some are dirt cheap many items have been specially designed by and with Decathlon or adapted for Decathlon. I heard they tried to expand to the U.S. 1999 but gave up after a short time.
Decathlon are a fantastic company. Great policies and as you say transparent with all they do. Been in the UK for a good few years now. People are just waking up to them as a brand. Looks good on you too.
These are a slim fit for men as well (good for me, and as below long arms for tall people!). Only problem i had was the pocket liner snagging in the zip, eventually lead to it jamming and ripping. I've had this problem with other low budget "primaloft" type jackets though. They don't wash that well in a machine, either (tbf not sure what the directions say, probs hand wash!). Worth buying a couple of these in summer when they are discounted.
Do also Simond from Decathlon, higher quality then Forclaz. They have good selection of pants and jackets. Technically for climbing but I’m using it for hiking successfully. Hard to believe that nobody is reviewing Simond line...
Hi Susie really helpful review, I have always liked that jacket , good color and you look great in it. Thank you for the advice to order up in size. I'm in the market for one that I can wear with a fleece and get under my foul weather jacket for early spring sailing in the northeast, that water isn’t warm yet and the winds are cool. Take Care.
I got the same one for men and I wear it at -20°C no wind with only a t-shirt and I was fine. Décathlon its European size that's why its run small Im wearing XL usually and mine is a 3XL
..funny thing about the size. Im from europe, and I bought jacket from Outdoor research. A size, which I would usually buy here in europe, XL (I also have this Decathlon jacket in XL, mens version, fits exactly). But I think I would be OK with L from Outdoor research (even on top of that Decathlon jacket, that was the intent anyway)...
Since we chatting about decathlon, the jacket is indeed pretty awesome, I wear it often just around town as well. For anyone curious about their merino boxer briefs..... well its pretty awesome quality except for the waist band, one of the worst offenders for rolling down I have ever seen :(

I bought a decathlon down jacket in a bigger size than I needed, and the seams under the arms failed in six months or so. They are cheap, but I am not sure they are good value. I certainly would be wary buying one again
I would love to get stuff from decathlon....except they have nothing in stock in a men’s large....like ever. I have a half dozen items that I’m on the notification list for...going on 6 months now. Even in the video it shows that half the sizes are unavailable.
Great review - however, low cost also comes with a price and that's generally paid by the people making the garment you wear. Low wages, no union representation, in some cases forced labour, long hours, unsafe working conditions are all what goes into the product you wear.
Can I please have her height, weight, arm length (with the arm hanging down, armpit to wrist) and bust (measure around at the widest part)? I'm usually a small as well, but the medium looks a bit big on her. Their size chart doesn't actually look like they run small and you can't return the stuff on clearance (and this jacket is on clearance right now).
Love my mens trek 100 Buyer beware!!!!! The sizes are in European sizes not US. The zippers on the mens are set the same way as women's zippers. But anyway I won't do winter backpacking trips without it!!!
