- Wer noch einen Roland Juno G besitzt, wird wahrscheinlich das Problem mit der defekten LCD Anzeige kennen. Dieser Synthesizer kam im Jahr 2005 auf den Markt und mit fortschreitendem Alter versagt irgendwann das Display. Das ist tatsächlich ein Alterungsproblem.
Die damals von Roland verbauten LCD Anzeigen sind meiner Meinung nach eine Fehlkonstruktion und die Firma hätte durchaus darauf kommen können, dass es mit der Langlebigkeit nicht so gut bestellt ist. Vielleicht lag es an der Preispolitik oder der zur Verfügung stehenden Technik.
Mittlerweile kann Roland diese Displays als Ersatzteil nicht mehr liefern, aber es gab zwischendurch mal eine verbesserte Version, die für teures Geld kurzzeitig angeboten wurde. Heutzutage ist es aber so gut wie ausgeschlossen, einen Ersatz zu bekommen.
Ob eine Reparatur möglich ist und welcher Aufwand dafür betrieben werden muss, werden wir definitiv in dieser Folge herausfinden.

The LCD of my juno G has been replaced 3 times. the last time they said it was the V2 of the LCD and it requires a firmware upgrade.
I'm pretty sure the failure comes from the COG bonding process quality. like oxydation or something like that bacause it takes some times before to fail.

This is where it fails, although it’s not exactly at the CoG, but it’s close enough, it’s the other end of printed ribbon connecting CoG.
Upon terminating on printed circuit board, layer of thermal glue held ribbon down onto contact pads closing up electrical circuit.
For some reasons either the bonding degrades or the contacts oxidised.

Did you finish developing the simple and inexpensive repair for this? My Juno-G failed 2 weeks after the warrantee expired. Neither the walk-in store that sold it or Roland would do anything. I paid $1230 usd the first year it came out. Adjusted for inflation here in 2023 this is about $65,000,... Thanks for the videos. I love your workroom.
Hello Dick, I am still waiting for parts to come and as soon as I finish my current Projekt I will put my hands on the Juno G again. We will see if it works and I will produce the specific Video to release on my channel.

There is a guy in France who installs a raspberry pie screen it's not as wide and he asks nearly €250 I think.
I'm sure there is a way to fix this type of lcd. Search more videos on LCD's in general.
Cleaned the ribbon cable contacts with a dry eraser, by the 3rd time it works! Thanks.

I just cleaned the ribbons withcontact cleaner and the screen was still only orange.

Display is faulty, get over it. The only reason it works with instrument on video is that particular instrument was used very little (likely). Anyway, replacement is available on instrumentalparts for 200 usd.@@TheCosmosKids
Ahh jetzt endlich in HD. Ich war mal wieder zu schnell.
Gab es keine Moeglichkeit zu versuchen die aufgeklebte Verbindung letztendlich zu fixen? Waere interessant zu wissen.
Was passiert denn, wenn man den Anpressdruck auf die Leiterbahnen per Hand oder per Klemme erhöht? Ergibt sich dann ein besserer Kontakt? Ist schrecklich ein funktionsföhiges Gerät dieser Art einfach als irreperabel wegschmeißen zu müssen. Vielleicht sind es auch garnicht die Kabel, sondern die SMD ICs auf dem Display? Mein JX-305 hatte auch das Problem mit den Flash Speicherchips, die sich ablösten. Flux Paste und Erhitzen haben dann die Chips neu aufgelötet. Seitdem geht wieder alles. Allerdings muß ich das Display ersetzen.
Roland hat wohl häufig Probleme mit diesen Komponenten.
Es liegt definitiv an der Verklebung der Kabel. Hier ist keine vernünftige Reparatur möglich. Es gibt jetzt aber eine einfache und kostengünstige Lösung, ( ca. 15 Euro ) die ich demnächst ausprobieren werde. Niemand wird dann seinen Juno G wegen eines defekten Displays wegwerfen müssen.

Gibt es über dieses Display noch ein paar Infos wie Auflösung und Größe? Ich habe den Hersteller Sanbum gefunden, doch nur so durchscrollen durch die Angebote ist wenig zielführend.
Edit: Die Auflösung ist 240x96. Das ist wohl eine eher ungewöhnliche Auflösung. Ich glaube mit einem Raspberry pi pico sollte man den spi stream auslesen und modifiziert ausgeben können.
Bleibt die Qual der Wahl welches Display denn am schönsten dort herein passt.
Ich habe beim besten Willen nichts über dieses Display in Erfahrung gebracht.
@@Synth-Hunter-Germany Ist dort nicht vielleicht sogar genug Platz um eine Buchse anzulöten? Sonst besorge dir mal Lötpaste für niedrige Temperaturen um das Kabel direkt aufzulöten mit der heißluft Station.
@@Robertkopp84 Guter Ansatz passende Buchse zu finden, eher unwahrscheinlich. Das Löten habe ich ausprobiert, die Mikrobeschichtung der Leiterbahnen vom Kabel nimmt kein Lot an.

This is definatly not passable.
Perhaps capacitors dry up and the voltage goes too high washing out the graphics on the display?
Nearly! The broken capacitors prevent the generation of the negative voltage that the display needs for the contrast. In this case, however, the leaking electrolyte damaged other components.
What firmware do you need the juno g to have? Does this modify working on all firmwares (type 1.01, 1.02, 2.00, and 2.01)??
This mod should work on all firmware version. I recommend to use Version 2.01
I have tested 2.01 firmware, which will cause the original normal LCD to be unable to display, but will be degraded to 1.06 firmware. Do not upgrade to 2.01. The degradation process is very painful and difficult
Hast du es Mal mit dem Bügeleisen probiert auf Synthetik das geklebte Band, wieder fest zu schweißen?
It works for a while, but not reliable.
The way it was bonded at factory was a carefully controlled series of processes and tools.
First the tool needs to have surface suitable to heat the glue up, and after some time (seconds?) the heat has to be removed while tool is still pressing on letting the glue to cure down to suitable temperature.

Ich suche ein Juno-G LCD, da meins in der Mitte gebrochen ist. Wo könnte ich noch eins bekommen?
Ich vermute mal, dass Ersatzdisplays nicht mehr zu bekommen sind. Da ja die Firma Roland mit Privatleuten nichts mehr zu tun haben will, bin ich zum hiesigen Musikladden gegeangen um Ersatzteile zu bekommen.. Der hatte aber keine Verträge mehr mit Roland, weil die Bedingungen nicht akzeptabel sind. Angeblich braucht Roland auch keine ortsgebundenen Verkaufstellen mehr.
Also das scheint die Lösung zu sein. Sehr günstig und relativ einfach zu realisieren:

Es erschien die Aufschrift „Eror 1“. Ich habe versucht, die Software zu aktualisieren, aber seitdem erfolgt keine Reaktion.Das Display leuchtet einfach auf. Ich bräuchte einen Rat, wo der Fehler zu suchen ist. Alternativ wäre ich sehr dankbar, wenn Sie bereit wären, den Synthesizer zu reparieren.

@@Synth-Hunter-Germany Thanks for the answer. Auto generated subtitles help a little bit, however some sentenses are not completely correct translated. It would be much helpful if you translate your texts by yourself and then include the subtitle option to the video.
