I like Roman's performances very much and I would pay the ticket to his concert if I had the chance. But if I had to choose between attending his live concert or paganini's concert (even just on film) you definitely know what my choice would have been...
this is clearly amazing work but in this piece some parts sounds like when a wet shoe slides against a wooden floor.. people can hear the notes in that?
I see lot of negative comments about this guy not being musical. Anybody who thinks his not musical go and post a video about your own self playing like him many of our fingers would break trying to play like that ,and by the way this is Pagannini first caprice this is not about musicality its about being in perfect tune and skills ... Witch he has
He clearly put a lot of hours into perfecting his movements and technique but that doesn't change the fact that his playing is dull aka not musical. (in this video at least) Asking people to prove such a thing is idiocy, clearly your version of "better" is distorted. I'm a pianist. Sorry love, but that doesn't make me unqualified to recognize a lack musicality. See what I'm hinting at here? It's quite logical.
He's using Richochet, as Connor said "How would you make ricochet this fast more musical?..." If you want something more musical, check out his composition of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
Paganini is not a musical composer ok? His pieces are mostly technical showpieces. And he does what is needed to do in a perfect way. This 1st caprice interpretation is very similar with Perlman's. So Perlman is not also musical? Funny kiddo :))
Mira Archer Does anyone ever conplain about an interpretation of Hanon or Czerny not being musical? If the point of a car is to speed on a racetrack it shouldn't matter when it can't go offroad. Different pieces are for different techniques.
freaking awesome fiddling! Ricci would have been proud of that. i don't buy the criticisms of no emotion, no artistry. this particular caprice is all about kickass technique. there's plenty of artsy-fartsy music around; this ain't one of 'em.
You know, that especially the mentioned Ricci said, that this caprice is much harder for the bow when played in a slow tempo? Easier for the left hand though. So I think Ricci would simply say: play it slow now and then the fun starts.
@@SimonStreuffViolinEducation you have a point. this is harder for the bow arm played relatively slowly, but keeping the bow dancing and have every single note pop out cleanly. many fiddlers get sloppy and just play psuedo-legato. i referenced Ricci because Roman's the only guy i've heard who plays this as fast as Ricci at his best, and as cleanly.
These people talking about musicality as if he should be doing vibrato on every single note lmao got jokes. They also make it painfully obvious that they are just jealous and unappreciative individuals. You ask any one of them how they suggest that he makes it more musical and they will just change the subject.
He's excellent. Many times on standard repertoire, his phrasing is questionable. Is he capable of creating logical phrasing? Of course, there is no question. But maybe in time he will mature more.
@@kehwa he shouldn't even have to play the standard repertoire, there is just no point in that unless you do something much different from others on standard pieces, and he does
In my humble opinion this is by far the best demonstration of the first caprice in the world. If you look at paganinis writing you'll notice a certain attitude that you sir, have completely and absolutely mastered. Bravo!
@Yunrui Huang I think he meant that he doesn't think Heifetz can play this piece at this speed. I mean ofc Heifetz can play this piece, most violinists dedicated to the arts can. But not most can't play it at this tempo and still keep in tune.
Edward Pancake Heifetz is not most violinists. He plays pretty much everything (except Humoreske, for whatever reason) 25% faster than most other virtuosic violinists, so there’s no reason why he couldn’t.
@@benjamindang5384 that's true, and I wasn't arguing that Heifetz couldn't do it if he tried. I'm just trying to clarify what the original comment was trying to say.
Это потрясающе!! Если не принимать во внимание темп "Andante", поставленный автором!)) В связи с этим задачи в каприсе совсем иные.. Но, повторюсь, парень гениальный!
marked Andante; played prestossimo. My only complaint, the piece is about richochet control, not playing as fast as possible. Great playing though, no doubt.
Oh, thank you very very much, dear professor. I'm sure you're totally entitled to give this young man a masterclass, before or after you learn how to write "prestissimo", you fucking idiot.
How old is he in this video? I saw a video of him dated 2012 where he looks a lot younger than this one. The description in that video stated he was 13 in 2012. He looks a lot older than 12 in this video.
For compliments thank you very much!!!
Roman Kim You are awesome so much perfomance and talent😍🥰
How long did you learn violin at the time of this preformance?
I love your crispy ricochet😍😍😍😍🤗
These are not complements, these are appreciations of your talent!
This is one of the best performances of this piece ever, its actually perfect. Consistent richochet, perfectly in tune, you are an absolute legend.

How in hell?! Just perfect!

Almost literally as Paganini was thought of to be the devil’s violinist

Is this like a stereotype for Violin videos that video quality is not the best but type sound is just so clear.
Jesus, at this point I think it is
So as to not give away their secrets, see...

Some people have suggested this is speeded up because the pitch is higher. However I think its brilliant
Paganini sometimes tuned his violin higher to sound brighter or something like that
Someone has replaced Ben Lee for fastest violinest. The only difference is the guy actually plays the right notes lol
