Finally, this is the instructional video I've been looking for. 15 minutes of video, but concepts that will last forever.

I’m not a “visual learner” but the visuals you made for the video were very useful in places to show how your movements are played on an efficient path.

Great lesson, thanks. Not a beginner but still very helpful. Fundamentals rule.

This is really good thank you! It's all about muscle memory - at least the sticking part ;)

This a great video Tim! I have been watching your videos for a couple years now and I think you are doing the best jazz vibraphone content on youtube by far. I met the vibraphone for the first time about 4 years ago and fell in love. I am now preparing to audition on jazz vibes for grad school next fall. Your videos have been extremely helpful in my journey and I appreciate the effort you put in to your content and community! Best wishes from central Illinois :)

Hey Tim, thank you for this quick introduction! I hope you will contiune this as a "series". Would be cool!
Two questions though: Would you also practice the Arpeggios with changed sticking eg. RLRL instead of LRLR?
The other question is more a request: Could you do a video about chords and how to decide "what handposition" to use? E.g. answering the old question on how to stick B7. Thanks!

Now that’s a good idea.. I get that question all the time in lessons. As for the sticking, I don’t tend to practice the ones that feel really awkward, but it probably still is a good idea. Guess I should go practice more.

I may have to trade in one of my dogs for a cat, as she loves to 'sing' along LOUDLY while I practice. 😅 Does anything change in these rudiments if you have a marimba instead of vibes? Also, I see you stressed striking the center of the bar. Do you ever strike the end of the bar on the upper keys, or is that completely verboten?
