Always wondered why publishers commit to 3d beat em ups when upfront they knew graphics would turn out to be 10 times less appealing than if they had delivered the same effort onto a 2d title
The PS1 could have done so many arcade-perfect ports of beat 'em ups. It's too bad the industry was so worried about mediocre 3D experiences at the time.

They really only suffer compared to Sega's best, but everything looks bad when thrown up against the Streets of Rage series until we started getting God of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, and Bayonetta .

Yeah! The game started it's development as Streets of Rage 4, but Sega did not want it. The Game always felt like Streets of Rage in 3D to me.

I loved Captain Commando in the arcades, playing with my 3 friends. All four fighting, smashing the buttons for hours.
I also like it a lot, the Super Nintendo version was disappointing, but this one from PS1 is very good.
