Catherine Zeta-Jones is PERFECT as Morticia Addams! Not only does she LITERALLY look flawless but she also has this very loving energy she gives off. And Luis Guzmán is equally perfect as Gomez Addams. As the only kid to a single mom I would’ve LOVED for Gomez to be my father. He gave his daughter a fencing blade at 5 years old, taught her how to swim with sharks, and gave her her own sense of independence while being incredibly loving and caring for her. I’ll be sure to do the same thing if I ever have a kid.
I love that Tim Burton kept the Addams dynamic of a healthy family. The interaction between Wednesday and Gomez while he was in jail brought a tear to my eye. Does anyone else out there get choked up by wholesome parents on screen?
At first I wasn't sure about Morticia and Gomez in the show as they didn't really fit with their counterparts in other Addams Family Series or film but I've really come to like their characters in Wednesday. Excited for season 2
@@Random-ed2xf Yes I've seen the comics, and I think that Gomez was good for paper and ink, but passing this one off as the guy that landed Morticia and watching him come on to her all the time just doesn't fit. To be honest, I felt like Eugene’s parents, being a same-sex couple felt more naturally inclusive in the whole story line than anything else that happened in the show because no one reacted, or was expected to react … at least to me … at least to me whereas the other parallels that happened I felt like there was supposed to be a reaction, but it wasn’t happening the same way I think they [the writers] were expecting
I just love that Eugene was talking about "there is no patriarchy in the hive" and then it pays off when you see that he has two moms you go back to that line as the set up for it. Like you said it's more natural not forced. It was a very sweet scene.
@rickking228 You're right, the presence of same-sex couples shouldn't be shocking in 2023; they are indeed just regular couples. However, when it comes to storytelling, the essence lies in how characters are developed. When characters, whether part of the LGBT community, women, or any other group, are characterized primarily by their identity markers without deeper development, it's a missed opportunity. This shallow approach can disrupt the story's immersion. Effective writing should delve into characters' complexities and growth, transcending mere identities. If not, it risks reducing the narrative to what feels like propaganda, affecting the authenticity and immersion of the entire film or show.
Personally as a gay person Enid’s story did speak to me because my mother pushed conversion therapy and electric shock therapy on me when I was first coming out
@@chakkra69 It's a fairly extreme treatment for serious mental disorders like schizophrenia, mania, and clinical depression, that involves inducing controlled seizures in the patient by passing an electric current across the brain. I'm sure people smarter than myself figured everything out pretty quickly, but honestly I really liked how the mystery(s) played out over the course of the show. Kept me guessing right up until the reveal.
It's not about feeling seen. It's just that happens SO often (victims not being believed). That's why a majority of r*pes don't get reported. And the analogy of the gay conversion therapy I think it's a conversation that needs to be had. Because it's something that's STILL happening. Don't know, nothing of that made me roll my eyes because it's part of reality. If it had been more on the nose or exaggerated I would have understood the criticism. XD
I will never get how people don't just see life when watching things. It's not political or virtue signaling it's just something that happens in real life that is happening to the character. I mean Morticia was giving voice to past trauma in a situation where a real person totally would. I mean they mention she and Gomez went to the cops. Should she have just not given voice to it when confronting the guy that literally ignored her stalking accusations? It would be unnatural for a real person not to say something.
Jaby sees anything, literally anything with diversity, race or women's perspective as an "agenda." He gets irritated by it all the time. There are countless of stories of women being stalked and eventually murdered despite the fact that they were reaching out to the police. So where is the "agenda" when this stuff happens in real life? That was what like a fifth of ONE episode in an entire series.. but sure lets call it a political agenda. Also Eugene's parents were just there for 10 seconds, nothing about it was made to be a big deal.
Gomez's story about stabbing Gates is one of those things that could actually happen, though of course no one would believe it. I had a guy back into my car's front end because he was too scared to follow through with leaving a parking lot before traffic came. As expected, not a lot of people believe that I didn't just run into someone else's back end.
The werewolf conversion camp thing, I think was not an accurate portrayal of what they were going for. If Enid didn't want to be a werewolf and they were sending her against her will, that would make it an accurate comparable depiction of what they were most likely going for, but Enid was crying because she wants to wolf out and be part of the pack and be able to find a mate so in that aspect I think the mark was missed. To me it's more like saying someone wants to be a pilot but they can't figure it out on their own, but if you get them brochures to flight schools it's being insulting to them to want to help them become what they themselves want to be. But that may just be my autistic and therfore overly analytical and logical thought process that picks up on little faults in language that change the whole meaning of a statement. Sort of like when people use the word literally to describe a figurative statement, I have to analyze what was said to figure out if they meant it literally or figuratively.
Yeah, that part seemed awkward. It's not as if Enid doesn't want to wolf out. The goal of the camps does technically align with her desires. They're trying to bring to viewers' minds the real world bass ackwards Christian motivated camps that used to be a thing a few decades ago where they take the gay youths and try to brainwash the gay out of them and train them to act straight. But with Enid and these werewolf camps it's more like if the gay conversion camps went in the opposite direction and tried to teach the gay youths the "correct" way to act gay. Like training them to live their lives 24/7 just constantly cranking up all of the most flamboyant stereotypes to 11. I get the impression from the tone as Enid reacted to the brochures that the werewolf camps would be likely to use some sort of torture to rile their campers up into a frenzied and animalistic state of mind in preparation for the transformation, programming their minds to embrace the most primal werewolf stereotypes. And even though we haven't spent any time in this show getting to know any other werewolves besides Enid (at some point a group of wolves hanging out are just pointed out in passing without actually going up and introducing any of them) it's kinda obvious that she wouldn't fit the stereotype. She's bubbly, not aggressive. She faints at the sight of blood and gore. She likes to be well-groomed while other werewolves seem to prefer a more rugged look.
I don't see it as agenda setting but trying to be inclusive to the point of having many different scenarios for the variety of the audience that is watching and therefore that part of the audience can see themselves in the show. I didn't see it as political per se.
Upon a few viewings my take on Eugene having two moms was that bees are mostly female and Eugene has a connection with bees so it could be a play off of that. Also when is something an agenda and when is it not and if it is an agenda behind it when is it forced? Dave Bautista has two moms that he speaks on proudly. Is he pushing an agenda or is he just speaking on the circumstances of his life? I see that with Eugenes moms. Yes it is a conscious decision and might have an agenda behind it but it didn't seem forced or in your face, it was just there.
I'm sorry to say this but it did seemed forced because Eugene's parents didn't even have any important role like all other parents shown in this episode, they all had a purpose but for Eugene's parents, they just suddenly showed a black les couple for like 10 sec and that's it. Seemed more like a checklist item that they just wanted to show just for the sake of it.
I think we've seen representation, inclusion, diversity etc... done so badly / commercially these days that it can feel like a cringe moment before it even gets a chance to play out. The intention definitely matters.
Thank you for the reaction! Beside the obvious points I loved a real therapist comment about Enid mom walking away: "Good. Personally i hate agenda pushed hard ruining stories but it wasn't that intruding in this serie, didn't bothered me at all.
I think there can be a "danger" that people who are knowledgable don't consume media in the same way as the majority. I had a friend who taught a writing class and I remember her telling me once she had trouble reading for fun because she found herself dissecting the book rather than just reading it. After saying that, this is the weakest episode of the series but I still had a lot of fun with. I can understand Jaby's mind wandering onto technical details. I'm not sure the majority of the audience would have the same issues as Jaby, but they may think of this an interlude before launching towards the finale.
I mean I get the point of always guessing but it's better to just enjoy the show and not keep guessing who killed who and solve the mystery. It's fun for a while but you guys are doing it all the time. It's not Sherlock Holmes so it's easy to guess anyway. I would rather have you comment on performances
Being part of the queer community and speaking solely for myself, I can't say that I felt seen by Enid's storyline. I saw it as Enid's mom being what they call a Perfectionist Mother or a Narcissistic Mother. However, if their goal was to make some type of correlation between the two, then I would say the way they threw it in there felt more like a checklist item. I did like how they introduced Eugene having two moms. It felt very organic and wasn't the focus of the conversation. It wasn't done to create shock value nor made to feel taboo. It was just two parents introducing themselves to their child's friend.
Lurch talked a bit in the TV series, he become a teenage phenom then. While I appreciate the inclusivity of the two mothers, Xavier mentioning "he or she" when wondering about who Wednesday was waiting for and the brief conversation camp mention I was disappointed that there was not more saturation of LGTBQIA+ life in the universe. The efforts honestly came across as intentionally placed to make certain points instead of add to a more natural story and holistic universe. For example, I love the language and how Enid asked if Lucas wanted to dance "You up for getting down?". It's polite, it's seeking consent and partnership, shows Enid in a different situation in a different relationship, and it's completely the character and builds a more interesting (and endearing) Enid for me.
Wednesday is different. The last four lost sight of the purpose - to highlight Wednesday’s peculiarities. Now it’s all about solving the case. Pity. And as always, Achara’s spot on. About everything. You go, girl!
I totally disagree. Rich and powerful people manipulate institutions. Just like mayor did in gates' family's order. That's not a "man" thing, it's a systemic injustice. Although mayor being a man made him less empathetic towards morticia's situation. It's not meant to be emotional or touching but it's exposing systemic injustice that often normal people face, everyday. Idk about america bt in india, many rich people buy their way out of justice system by blaming normal people. That's the sad reality of today's world. Also, being a bi trans girl, i get that gay conversion therapy instance. It's infuriating bt it doesn't translate well with being a werewolf. So, no that's not a gay conversion symbolism.
Not everything is an agenda and not that serious, achara keeps making sure she comes off as anti feminist as possible it's too much sometimes lol. They just stated a fact that women are generally not believed easily in those cases especially if the perpetrator is rich. Just because it didn't move you doesn't mean they're pushing an agenda. It's weird of how much it affects you when there's any type of woke theme on the episodes. Maybe you should like study and educate yourself about the importance of these things being talked about in series like this one. It's not really an agenda they're just trying to be inclusive so people can see themselves in the show. It's not the first time you complain about it, you could just try to enjoy things even tho it doesn't involve you and your experiences.
I love the entire cast, but I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed about Gomez. He was so dashing in the movies and I love Louise Guzman as an actor he's an incredible actor but he just doesn't give me Gomez Vibes. He's doing a good job with the role but.....
Potpourri is a mixture of dried, naturally fragrant plant materials used to provide a gentle natural scent, commonly in residential settings. It is often placed in a decorative bowl.
I'm not sure why you decided that Enid's story was an analogy for gay conversion. I mean, I guess individual viewers could see it as that if they want but the show never makes that connection. I saw Enid saying "you want to send me to conversion therapy for werwolves???" as a joke. The show often pokes fun at Enid's more woke tendencies-intentionally playing off of the cringe that you reference, like when she told Lucas that he couldn't say abominable snow man because is was offensive now. This was just another example of that. Other than that one joke which wasn't meant to be taken seriously, where did the show push or even indicate this analogy? In my opinion it wouldn't make sense as a "woke" analogy, because she is going to wolf out eventually, it's just a matter of when. I saw it as a storyline about parents not being accepting of their child taking things at their own pace.
I finally totally agree with Jaby. While it has some good points, this is definitely the worst episode compared to the others. It almost feels like a filler episode or something. Enid's dad though ... he really tells her when he FINALLY speaks (after his wife walks away btw) "I'm proud of you, you do you"... wow thanks for the great advice dad. Why couldn't he say this earlier. He is the most pathetic character I've ever seen. If you're going to support your daughter then support her at all times instead of pulling a "Turning Red" and give the simplest praise in secret. Sorry but that B plot just killed me.
Is it pushing an agenda or is it just not your default and even a hint of representation freaks you out because it doesn't involve you and your experiences
@@saurabhraj2690 disagreed. People just exist, showing them is not an agenda, they are not abnormal creatures that they are trying to make you accept as normal. They are literally just showing you real people and their real situations and showing you what they go through.

the thing that makes me cringe is how much the show can't get away from having an insipid love triangle. it doesn't add anything to the plot but it's expected for the YA category so they forced one there. it's pandering is what it is
@@s.e4572 Seemed forced like a checklist item just wanted to include it for no reason. Other parents shown had something important to add to the storyline. These 2 were just shown for 10 sec max and then vanished. They were not even there in the next episode while their kid still remains in ICU.
You definitely notice when the director changes I don't know what that is but you had Tim Burton for four episodes and as soon somebody else went in the episode turned extremely woke it's like can you idiots please have an original thought on your own and stop shoving that shit down our throats 24/7? I generally liked this show but there are some moments where you really cringe watching it.. I hope Tim Burton directs more episodes for season two, if not, I'm certain we will see a very woke result and that would ruin this show for me for good..
What did they shove down your throat? Honestly, when a person is as ignorant as yourself, anything even slightly different than the status quo feels like a personal attack or being "shoved down your throat". It must be nice for you, to not identify with any of the "wokeness", can't imagine being that privileged.

Is it just mean but the grande sounded like the one from halo (the video game)
You should post these on the Indian channel
Please react to Alice in Boderland
Fire will Rain = Chambers of Secret will reopen.
Gabrielle is a horrible evil woman I can't wait until Bianca and Wednesday team up
Bravo Achara
Yes, I agree, Jaby. This episode is my least favorite.
I❤This Show So( Its One Favorites!)🤔😵💫🫣🥰🎛🖥💖
It's weird of how much it affects you when there's any type of woke theme on the episodes. Maybe you should like study and educate yourself about the importance of these things being talked about in series like this one. It's not really an agenda they're just trying to be inclusive so people can see themselves in the show. It's not the first time you complain about it, you could just try to enjoy things even tho it doesn't involve you and your experiences.
I just can't stand how Gabriella walks into her daughter's life and threatens her right away.
All bc she wants to use Bianca’s voice for her own purposes.
Why this is too late
I love the entire cast, but I'm not going to lie I was a little disappointed about Gomez. He was so dashing in the movies and I love Louise Guzman as an actor he's an incredible actor but he just doesn't give me Gomez Vibes. He's doing a good job with the role but.....
He gives me the Gomez of the source material vibes, but of course most trace back to Raul Julia because itr was a great version of the character.
what's popery? that he us eating.
Its Potpourri. Its a matetial to have natural scent in a house.
Potpourri is a mixture of dried, naturally fragrant plant materials used to provide a gentle natural scent, commonly in residential settings. It is often placed in a decorative bowl.
@@billpaine6241 Well yeah thats right. The google definition.
i think this was just to show that the addams consume weird gross things or percieved gross to others

The principal is one tall women. Like man is she very tall. Must be hard to get into cars
That's why she drives a minivan
Is it pushing an agenda or is it just not your default and even a hint of representation freaks you out because it doesn't involve you and your experiences
You do understand that that's just her opinion right and she entitled to it? Why does that offend you?
You just said "is it just pushing agenda" in two different ways.. let me answer you, - YES
@@saurabhraj2690 disagreed. People just exist, showing them is not an agenda, they are not abnormal creatures that they are trying to make you accept as normal. They are literally just showing you real people and their real situations and showing you what they go through.
I can tell you what was wrong with this episode, Jaby:
Woke overdose
@Rick King 22
Watch to the end of the video to see Jaby (and Achara) explain it.
The tried to put in as much Western Woke agenda in the episode as possible.
You guys are always ready it's hilarious
the thing that makes me cringe is how much the show can't get away from having an insipid love triangle. it doesn't add anything to the plot but it's expected for the YA category so they forced one there. it's pandering is what it is
First
Two moms wtf, adopted ?
yes
@@Maya_hee stupid to have two moms, kid needs daddy also…
Yeah that was a little weird.
@@usmantariq7997 why?
@@Maya_hee aww.. did I triggered you sweetheart.. have a soy latte and chill out..
They said the sister drown actually
If there’s no body, then the person is still alive.
